How to send messages with Houzz

Noticing that some of us don't know how to send messages to one another with Houzz since it is different than it was with the old G. W. I thought I'd post this little reminder.

To send a message to another member of Houzz:

Click your icon or go to 'Your Houzz' at uppper right.
Click 'Edit Profile'
Click 'Advanced Settings' on the left bar
Scroll almost to the bottom to 'someone messages me'
Click 'everytime'
When you receive a message Houzz will will send you an email saying you have received a message.
Go to 'Your Houzz' The link will be within the email
Click 'Messages' and you can read and reply all within Houz.

Both sender and recipient have to enable messaging for this to work.

Hi Georgect: If the person has allowed anyone to message them, by setting it up in their personal profile-advanced settings, then you can send them a message by clicking their name to go to their profile and then clicking the message link on the upper right hand corner. If there is no message link, then they have not chosen to receive messages. You can also send a message if that person is following you. You can try it by clicking my name, because I have elected to receive messages from anyone. You should see the message link when you go to my profile page.

My Sent messages are now showing up, so all's well. Maybe it just needed me to go outside and pull some weeds. It was 75 degrees here yesterday and joy ensued.

How to send a private message?

Click on the profile of the person you would like to send the message to. That's where the message option is. There are some bizarre Houzz rules on who you may or may not PM. Something like you both have to be following each other, unless the recipient has enabled the 'allow all messages' feature.

Click on the profile, there should be a message tab on the top right of their page. If there isn't one, they have set their profile to not receive messages. In which case they need to go to their settings, click on advanced settings and check the boxes for people they are willing to receive messages from. Hope that helps! KC

Thank you, roselee, for referencing this how-to in another post. I find the houzz' Help setup to be lacking. The answers may all be there, but finding one is like a scavenger hunt.

To send someone a private message on Houzz follow the instructions given in the original post above. It's not hard to do. Just follow it step by step. Wishing you well ... :-)
