Tide Original Pods now "he turbo"

I am usually not a big fan of any pods, although I find them insanely convenient. Also, in the past, the first generation of pods sometimes did not completely dissolve, and a little piece of the pack would remain stuck on wet laundry; and then the laundry would go through the dryer and the little pod piece would melt onto the laundry. Not fun!

Fast forward to May 2015....and it seems P&G (for once!!, LOL) got something right. Not only are the Tide pods with he turbo offered in "original" scent, but they produce barely a bubble (even with using two pods), and all 3 rinses in my washer are pretty clear. The original smells clean, and the scent is much lighter than the mystic falls, or spring meadow or unicorn on an April glitter day or some non-sense like that ;) So far, there has not been a stain, mark or odor that has not removed when using 2 pods per medium to large sized laundry loads.

I've even tried using a pod with there Tide boost with bleach packs for whites...and my laundry was SO white, fresh and bright. I have Two big boxes of Tide he original powder and he Cheer powder, and I put them away, under the sink. How liberating and easy...NO measuring liquids or powders. I hope these continue to work.

I tried the new HE Turbo Tide pod plus Febreze 4 in 1 Botanical Rain. Very fresh scent, not too over powering IMO and that is odd for Tide now days. Most time the smell is blowing the door off but these are just a clean scent and few suds. I will have to try them on a load of whites later in the week and see how they work.

Sadly I'm too traumatized to try the pods again. So many clothes came out of the dryer, with the clear pod fused to fabrics!!!

I am liking the he turbo though. No suds to worry about.

Makes me think of the vintage tide ads. If I remember correctly it was something like "just wash wring, and done!! No Rinsing!!!" Hmm...I'm gonna google it.

Such advertising makes me shocked!!!! The thought of not rinsing out detergent? Maybe it cut down on the need for starch? lol

Well, mine was fine. It didn't suds, but I also don't think I used enough to do any good. I had a small blood stain (from shaving) that would have easily come out with Cheer or Persil and it's still there after this run. Next time I'll increase the dose and monitor suds. As for the smell, it's pleasant -- old school Tide liquid. However, the only Tide fragrance I really like is the old school powder. Liquid fragrance doesn't do a whole lot for me. Now, the bleach smell emanating from my dishwasher with the Cascade powder? That's a smell I can get behind :)

There are a few boxes of what looks like the good stuff on Amazon, old packaging, NOT he turbo, just regular he. Sellers must know people want and love this...many are $30-40 box + high shipping! The boxes are not big either. Highway robbery!! I am just going to enjoy what I have left, and with 1-3 TBS. per load and also using Bubble Bandit and other detergents... my stash will last me a little longer, just not as long as I expected and planned it to last. Sad, and upsetting...but in the grand scheme of life, not a big deal. I will just keep telling myself this. LOL

greeny, I was thinking the same thing about P&G reading our forum for info about what real people like and think. I doubt they ever thought some of the members here were so smart about ingredients. Times have changed. I used to use Cheer Free liquid a lot some time ago and I must have liked it because I had no sensitivities to it. Soon now I will give it another try. However, I will buy Gain powder tomorrow just because I have to get it out of my system. I have the Flings or whatever they're called. I will consider donating my new jug of Tide Free Gentle liquid since I am hell bent on eliminating Tide from my life. Just finished 3 hours of Planet Earth II and am on a chemical elimination kick again. We'll see how long this lasts until I decide my clothes aren't getting clean enough. Jeesh. Round and round we go. Just want to add something for MizLizzie: It's "Tide Free & Gentle" and "All Free & Clear." Also, just remembered, I have a HUGE unopened box of the wonderful old Cheer powder without OBs. I'll have to be sure the new Cheer powder doesn't have OBs before I give the old up to my Humane Society. Thank you for the good news, greeny!

Eh, not to start an argument (I've washed on both Warm and Cold with good results, so no real stake in this game), but I don't really buy into the "if it touches your body it should handle hot water" claim. Using that logic you should be able to launder silk in hot water because it can withstand being worn, ironing and even steam, but we all know that that's a terrible idea. Brief partial contact is very different from extended submersion. Also, one thing that I find easier with Cold is being able to wash medium and dark athletic gear together with no fear of bleeding. Warm had caused a couple of my orange and fuchsia garments to bleed, so I was separating lights, darks and mediums. Now I just wash whites and very lights separately, and all the other spandex goes in together. Basically at this point my approach is "if it works well at 86F, why bother with 105F".

I too avoided the pods since they were introduced, as I too had issues with not fully dissolved pods (What a mess & ruined items). It has been a few years since they became widely available, and it seems P&G has FOR SURE fixed the issue. I have used several dozen pods now....Warm wash, Cold wash, Hot and Sanitize wash, Express/Quick wash and EVERY load was perfect. Not one minuscule speck of pod material. So clean rinsing too! I think you're safe to try! :)

That sounds promising. I might try them if I see them in store. I not going out of my way to buy them online though, I have to limit myself. I have too much detergent, I just have to try everything!

If the problem is indeed fixed, this would be great for my brother, as he overdoses like mad.

Check out Tide's Facebook page. Lot's of people are still having trouble with the pods. When I used them, I would make sure they were dissolved before I added my clothes.
