Back stock of Original Scent Classic Tide powder :( :(

I have 6 boxes of Classic Original Scent Tide "he" powder. While I use and buy other detergents, this still remains my all time favourite.

Today was time to open a new box (this is a big occasion...exciting, yet sad since it means nearing the end of my Tide stash).

I have 6 boxes. 3 are very large, 3 are very small sizes.

Naturally the 3 large boxes were thrown away today. I wanted to cry :(

When I opened the 1st box the powder was almost totally petrified. I broke up as much as I could with an ice pick (yes, I am that old...LOL) and then mashed it with a potato masher. I used some...but it did not suds at all. I mean not at all!!! Clothes came out smelling musty and not clean and a few stains remained!

I opened the 2nd box....Same. 3rd box same. Unusable, hard, smells off (not bad, just not how it should)...and results were dismal. It seems the boxes must have gotten wet at one point (they were manufactured in 2010 and 2011). The powder maybe got so wet, it "activated" and then turned into a solid, hard lump.

So I opened one of the 3 small boxes....and it was perfect. I dumped it into an Oxo container. I now have 2 unopened boxes of Classic Tide powder.

So what I thought would be a 5 year supply...just got A LOT smaller today. End of an era is coming sooner than I expected.

Oh. Noooooooo. This makes me sad to read. So sorry, Larsi. I felt like you were the Federal Reserve of our classic Tide scent. Just awful. I know you've come to really like a few new powders (Rosalie's and Bubble Bandit), but nothing is quite as lovely as that original. *tears up*

Oh wow, I hope that doesn't happen to my Ultra Plus detergent that I have in a huge plastic bin in my garage. I still have a 3 gallon bucket full I have to go through before I move on to that stash.

I bought the Tide powder with bleach orignal scent, it is not HE. At the beginning of this post, some said that the indregients had a suds, surpressor in it or sompthing like that. I find that one or two of the coffee scooups works in my washer according to load size and soil level. I have a 9 yr old Kenmore He3T. Drum capasity is 3.7 cu ft, and my washers uses 15.8 gallons of water per load. The ride resembles Persil in seem, just a nice clean scent that I have yet to find heavy of my clothes after they are washed and dried. I will continue to use it. BTW all my oily work clothes came out very well. I cant say that they were any cleaner, than if I used gain HE or Tide HE, but I was very satisfied with the results. My work clothes consist of Jeans, and Scrub tops, I got them cheap, and they work out great for work, wash good too, even on sanitary cycle right along with the jeans

One more little tip... all the recent boxes of Tide, will have a small scoop image on the side, saying Line 1, 2,3,4,5. Ignore all of those, and boxes that say "HE TURBO". All of the old boxes, said line one, two or three. Although.. some of the nasty scent boxes, did have this same dosing scheme. But... those two indicators, really make it easier to shift through the rubbish, for the gold.

Original Scent. Mid - 2014. I have to respectfully disagree with Larsi... I think the Liquid smells very overly sweet, and disgusting. I honestly don't understand why they are messing around and doing all of this nonsense... but some of the store brands that "Compare to Tide" do smell quite similar, I'm told. Both the scent of Liquid Tide & Powder was changed. Jayme, if you check out enough stores (and look for boxes without "HE Turbo" you'll find it) :) Just AVOID Wal-Mart for searching, and stores with very good turnover. Pharmacies & Corner Stores are great places to look. Or... you could try Aldi's Tandill Liquid Detergent. It smells about the same as Old Tide Original :)

Alex, consider Tide Pro, its formulated a bit different than what we buy off the shelf. Its formulated to be near neutral PH in order for hotel laundry to hold up to daily washing, so it would be a good choice for a less caustic detergent yet still have great whitening properties. It does in fact have extra sodium percarbonate in it. So all in all it will whiten and be gentle at the same time. Le Blanc and Forever New are both boutique detergents, which I've never found to be anything more than perfumed water, but these two are actually good at what they are intended to do, clean the sheets gently, leaving them with a *finished* feel to them. If you do decide to try one, I'd suggest you try them first with no FS, I think you will be impressed with the silky smooth feel of the sheets. Also ment to say the Tide Pro has a near neutral PH where the Tide with Bleach powder off the shelf has a PH of about 11.

Larsi....how to tell you this..but I found the same with the box you sent me, but you probably guessed that...I resealed the box with a hot glue gun LOL attached a note to it saying its not usable and put it with my keepsake stash of not to be used. Even though I can't use mine its ok..I was missing this in my keepsake collection..so for me it worked out...

Its ok Larsi and of course you wouldn't have sent it knowing..I'm glad you didn't know lol..I needed the box haha

Oh Larsi that sucks! I love Tide too and would be just as heartbroken as you. Sad day for sure. :(

There are a few boxes of what looks like the good stuff on Amazon, old packaging, NOT he turbo, just regular he. Sellers must know people want and love this...many are $30-40 box + high shipping! The boxes are not big either. Highway robbery!!

I am just going to enjoy what I have left, and with 1-3 TBS. per load and also using Bubble Bandit and other detergents... my stash will last me a little longer, just not as long as I expected and planned it to last.

Sad, and upsetting...but in the grand scheme of life, not a big deal. I will just keep telling myself this. LOL

Upsetting. Maybe it was in a very humid place. That happened in my basement laundry once. I keep everything in sealed containers now.
