Short follow up lest someone ever finds themselves in a similar situation: I recently came across my same tree in a plant shop, bought it, and put it on the terrace in my second home. After about 2 weeks, I noticed it was growing plenty of lovely PURPLE leaves... so I promptly returned home and put the other, indoor, tree, outdoors... It has lost alot of leaves in the meantime, and looks drab and sad, BUT... the leaves that ARE growing are lovely and PURPLE... So it was a light issue after all, as some has suggested from the very beginning. I guess that no matter how much light OUR eyes see, it is not necessarily enough for the plant. Thanks to ALL of you for your help and advice, enjoy, Nihal

I hear ya perkladd! I think I'm obsessed with clematis. I also have blue ravine & ramona. And I recently purchased sweet autumn, helios, avante garde, princess diana, teshio, fireworks, asao, miss bateman, multi blue and another niobe. Of course I have no idea where I'm going to put these but I'll find a place :)

For modern-looking iris: LOYALIST - a bright reddish purple - very late TITAN'S GLORY - large dark bluish purple - striking BLUEBERRY BLISS - gorgeous dark blue, I don't grow it, but it sure looks nice HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS - very dark purple and ruffly - extremely hardy and vigorous for me HAND PAINTED - purple and blue blend - I LOVE it and it reblooms Or, if you like the older looking ones there are two very very hardy oldies that are attractive: I. Germanica (the old dark blue bitone garden variety - comes out in early spring) ALCAZAR: bitone with more purple in it - its extremely tough. Laetitia

Purple is one of my favorite transition colors for flower arrangements and in the garden. As an artist, purple is just something to add life to any shadow. Can't do Iris here. Gophers think they are lunch......... But they are so beautiful!

My Irises are up, but not blooming yet. Same with the lupins. I hope they hold off for a couple of more weeks until we have water on.

Purple makes me feel good just to look at it. Wish our flowers were up but they'll be here soon.
