Color experts needed to help me with choosing kitchen paint
Comments (41)You know, I never considered white, probably because I have color everywhere. That is something to consider. I'm not sure about the green ceiling though. Of course I've never had color on my ceiling before. I appreciate your suggestions. And just when I thought I had it figured out....See MoreColor Experts please help - best neutral grey for exterior
Comments (4)Dorian Gray (cool name) looks like a good color. I also have a gray house that needs to be painted this year. I don't like blue grays and definitely not purple grays. If I have to lean towards an undertone, I prefer green, which DG appears slightly to me....See MoreChoosing an Exterior Paint Color-Can I get some advice from an Expert?
Comments (11)There's a Glidden color called Grey Squirrel 30YY 14/070. You can get a chip/sample from The Home Depot or any Pittsburgh Paints Store - they both have Glidden's Master Palette colors. Gauntlet looks VERY battleship gray (no warmth), Gauntlet Gray has a value of 5, that's about right. Hue is 1.42Y-so it should be a warm gray--tending towards brown? GG has an LRV of 17. And it doesn't have a lot of Chroma (colorfulness) so it quite literally is a near neutral gray. Meaning its proportion of grayness is greater than its proportion of colorfulness. Which is why you're perceiving it as battleship gray, no warmth. In comparison, Grey Squirrel has about the same LRV, 14, but it has more than twice the Chroma. Which means it's farther from a true neutral gray. It has more colorfulness and it's not going to look like battleship gray....See MorePlease help with exterior paint color and trim color on historic home!
Comments (37)Just a quick update to say I chose paint colors! I went with Miller Paints (only in the PNW). A for the body of the house, B for the main trim, C for the mullions. Also took an updated photo of my house to share for those of you who commented on the vines on the trellises on my house. (Still lots more vegetation to get under control before painting, but it is a constant process!) I'll share an update when the painting is completed, but it will be awhile. I work more than full time, have lots of weekend getaways planned for the summer, and the prep work is going to be incredibly time-intensive (but important)! Just need to get it all painted before the rain starts in the fall. Thank you all for sharing your suggestions and opinions! (Please excuse the hose, garden watering was underway!)...See Morehappyallison
