Anyone Watching/Watched Get Back?
Comments (4)I recall seeing a shortened version of this back in my high school days which would have been in the 70s. I think it was for a music appreciation class. I remember some studio clips and their famous rooftop concert. So when I saw this advertised I though, "Well they probably had a lot of unused footage from that shorter video so now they are trying to capitalize on it. I'll bet a lot of it was boring stuff." So not going to spend the dough for that. I'm a Beatles fan, but I had a feeling it would be a tough slog. But yes, that rooftop concert . . . !!!!!! Proves that they weren't just a studio talent, that they could crank out pure rock and roll like nobody's business. All those early years playing clubs . . . I have seen Beatles cover bands twice, and that music rocks in live performance no matter who is playing it, it's just pure rock and roll genius. RE Yoko, I just have no appreciation for her talent, but I'd hardly blame her for the Beatles break up. Most bands do break up as the artists mature into different individual interests. And yes, there was something creepy about her sitting there, but she has said in interviews that John wanted her to be there. I imagine she was kind of bored so that's probably a lot of the vibe....See MoreAnyone Watch AGT Last Night?
Comments (10)Over all, I thought it was a fantastic show, although I missed a couple of the acts, the ventriloquist and the sax player, not sure if I missed anyone else or not. I recorded it, so I might skim through it later today to see what I missed. Drake brought the house down! I was surprised he sang his audition song, but I agree with Simon, it was a good move. It's a durned good song and it hit #1 on some charts after his audition. Chapel Hart, yes, a disappointing performance. And the music so overpowered them, I couldn't understand most of the words to their song Again, I agree with Simon, it would have been nice if he could have had them sing it acapella. It was one of their original songs, and I think there were some beautiful lyrics hiding in there amongst all the glitz and glam and noise. But whether they win or not, they've made a pretty big splash in the country music world now and hopefully they can take that chance and run with it. The Mayyas are beautiful, but I think that type of act would be pretty limited as where and how often it can be performed. Those are my three favorites. What Metaphysic does is interesting and unique, but their act last night was boring, probably because their Elvis was so bad and we've had more than enough of Simon singing. Okay, that's my personal, unprofessional and wordy opinions (not that I am very opiniated or anything) (grin) Rusty...See MoreAnyone watching the Murdaugh trial?
Comments (15)I ’ve been paying attention to it for a long while now. Not gavel to gavel, but I keep informed. The New Yorker article is good. If there is a paywall, go to link and as it opens up, immediately select the READER VIEW option. Then you can read it. The article gives you a feeling for the whole backdrop and cultural landscape. Great poverty in that area and extreme political and fixed hierarchy. What an unclassy crew. Craven entitlement. Other cases I’m keeping an eye on: Idaho murders (latest is that the suspect, Kohlberger had been fired from his TA position after hostile intereractions with his advisor and staff (and female students), so that might well have put him in jeopardy of losing his office (for sure, as well as income), and his apartment in grad student apartments. Duxbury, Massachusetts Mother charged with killing her three young children and attempting suicide. Post partum psychosis. The US judges post partum women who break psychologically and kill or harm their children very harshly. Out of ignorance. Very sad and horrible....See MoreANYONE WATCHING again?
Comments (21)@arcy_gw, the 1965 Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella with Lesley Ann Warren is streaming! Prime, Roku, Tubi, Freevee, and others. I think it is also on DVD at my library. Last year I watched it easily a dozen or more times while washing all the china and crystal in my parents’s house for the estate sale (along with White Christmas). And I watched it night before last. It is so charming! A few years ago my son took me to the neat-o movie theater in the city for The Sound of Music, on the big screen. Oh, my, I was in heaven. He’s a good kid! btw, if you go to an Ellis Island website you can see their names on the list when they came over. And you would be surprised at where some of them were born. After all, the Captain was in the navy, when Austria actually had ports. And their ages, because the oldest boy was already out of university....See Moreblfenton
