I always enjoy! I have the DVD, read the original book and a couple of other memoirs from the family, have visited Salzburg and their home in Vermont. Whether the real or the movie version, theirs was quite a story.

I enjoy watching it but I also enjoy singing along with them.

Sometimes I am in another room and the show is on and I can picture absolutely everything going on. Usually I'm singing along to the tunes. I'm not even sure I have to actually watch it but sometimes I enjoy doing so.

Watched parts of it again…looked up the Von Trapp family…naturally changes were made like the kids names. Matia had 2 children while still in Europe and another in the US. At least that’s what I read.

I use to watch it but then it wasn't on cable tv anymore so I stopped looking for it. I just found it on my listings and sorry that I missed it.

Funny thing, for the countless times I’ve watched it, I either haven’t watched it in its entirety or simply don’t remember. My wife switched on during the “16 going on 17” scene and I had no idea what we were watching! Anything later, I’d be singing along with everything.

I love all the Rogers and Hammerstein movie musicals. Sound Of Music is extra special for this time of year.

No broadcast TV here, so I have to search for it on the streaming platforms.

@arcy_gw, the 1965 Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella with Lesley Ann Warren is streaming! Prime, Roku, Tubi, Freevee, and others. I think it is also on DVD at my library. Last year I watched it easily a dozen or more times while washing all the china and crystal in my parents’s house for the estate sale (along with White Christmas). And I watched it night before last. It is so charming!

A few years ago my son took me to the neat-o movie theater in the city for The Sound of Music, on the big screen. Oh, my, I was in heaven. He’s a good kid!

btw, if you go to an Ellis Island website you can see their names on the list when they came over. And you would be surprised at where some of them were born. After all, the Captain was in the navy, when Austria actually had ports. And their ages, because the oldest boy was already out of university.

I own copies of the three I mentioned. I just like to think of them on for annual watching by the masses.

I think my fave scene from R&H's Cinderella is the Stepsisters' Lament. They remade it with Whitney Houston and Brandi back in the 90s, but I prefer the original, since that one takes me back to my childhood.

arcy_gw, I also wish the yearly broadcasts of Peter Pan (with Mary Martin) and Amahl and the Night Visitors could return. Probably no chance of that.

Back when my DD was 3 or 4 (35 -ish years ago) NBC aired that 1955 Peter Pan after many years - I taped it, and my DD absolutely was crazy for it. She watched it every day for a month straight, and memorized Tiger Lily's dance.

I was entranced by Amahl and the Night Visitors myself as a child. It was an essential Christmas tradition for many years in our house.
