RECIPE: need professnl pie baker's help
Comments (1)I've never used honey in this kind of recipe but I think only using 1/4 cup honey would make you pucker up....See More'Make Ahead' suggestions for recipe needed
Comments (7)Haha, I think "cake" and "pie" is getting interchanged because of the title and my mention of pie crust :) I'll give it an extra 10 minutes at 350 degrees with everything else that's in the oven; I think this should work. I am never confident when it comes to reheating; as a matter of fact I'm terrible at it. I get distracted very easily, and I tend to leave things too cold or over cooked. I'm not entertaining for a big crowd this year, but foods usually have to be super hot. Needless to say I'm always running back and forth trying to get the temps right for everyone. Since I'll be cooking a day in advance I may even use the dough recipe above instead of the pillsbury. Much more relaxed about this now, I can't wait to try this one....See Morelighting placement needs to change - need help
Comments (1)I would want the island light as close as possible to the back of the sink cabinet and the start of the overhang. Do you see a direct, straight-on view of the hood from anywhere? Even if it was centered, no one would be able to tell if it is or not when looking from any angle. The undercabinet lights might take care of your other problems, but if I were starting from scratch, I'd have one over the spot where the 2 counters meet to the right of the stove (centered approx 21" from each wall)...Then have one the same distance from the center of your hood on the other side, the same 21" distance from the back wall. It seems like having them 3 ft from the wall in front of your fridge and pantry is a good idea. The lights in your hood should be enough for the stove top....See Morerecipe: help?? need xmas menu, lost recipe box!!
Comments (5)I feel your pain. Suggestion: try allrecipes.com,,they have some collections like Xmas extra with all of it together. That might help and you can do an advanced search where you put in name of recipe or main ingred you want or don't want in a recipe,,that could help you track down some lost stuff. Plus I like that they are rated and people tell how the dish turned out,,what improvements they made etc. I can bring up bread pudding without raisins or if I have extra bananas on hand I pulled it up using bananas in the bread pudding and got hits there too. About.com in their food section has some wonderful recipes that I've made for years and lots of collections too. Now you got your work cut out for you in deciding....that is the hardest part you know. I hope you have a great first hosting experience,,,just remember, it's just one meal,,this won't make or break a persons life. Why don't you ask some that are coming to "bring your favorite XYZ dish" to help you out? I've done those,,"I'll do the whole thing dinners" and by the time I'm thru, I'm too tired to enjoy it,,I'm broke and say I'm not doing this again. Or, how about ordering some stuff from Honey baked ham or whatever. Take advantage of Costco, they have great appetizers you can pop in the oven. I'm just thinking out loud here. Have a good one.
