Cast Iron Sewer Replacment under concrete slab

I have a 2,400 sq-ft, 4 bedroom, 3 bath house on concrete slab.
The cast iron sewer pipes are 39 yrs old and are pitted with the
bottoms corroded out in some places rendering the sewer system
virtually unusable. I have a quote to replace the sewer lines by
tunneling entirely under the slap to replace with PVC lines. The
quote is $32,750. I was told it would take one week using two
plumbers and 10 men to dig the tunnels. Does this sound excessive?
Would trenching some of the replacement PVC lines outside the slab
reduce the cost?
