Big Boo-Boo! On Red Robins

I started some Red Robins a while back, or I thought I did........

What I have growing under lights are defiantly not Red Robins! They are 3' tall and blooming now.... but at least they are healthy!

I have my saved seeds in baggies and I guess I picked up the wrong bag. I was having trouble seeing that day, my contacts were bothering me. They could be Brandywine, black cherry, Brandy Boy, or many other things!

Oh well, I guess I'll figure out what I have if they set fruit! The pots are too small, 3 gallon and I'm running out of room for my lights. I'm planning a trip to Lowes after while to get some stuff to raise my lights up.

wertach, do you mean 3 inches ?

Planting the wrong package or labeling it wrong, . can happen to all of us. Last year i thought I was growing Kumato but it turned out to be yellow grape.

Also seeds can get mixed . right now I have potato leaf seedling in Rosella Crimson pot. Either I messed it or the seed seller did. It it were RL, I wouldn't know it.

Another taught: If 3" tall is flowering, it is very likely that is an EARLY variety. Are you growing any early variety ?

Seysonn, Rosella Crimson has regular rugose leaves which at seedling stage can look like a potato leaf if you haven't grown dwarfs before. Most dwarfs have the rugose leaves. So hopefully your seedling really is Rosella Crimson.

So after discussing the product with the trainer at the store we decided to return it. Besides the collar rubbing my pup's neck raw, there were times when it would not work when needed. This was a common complaint of the internet and it was not a battery issue or the prongs not hitting. It just would not work all of the time. I don't normally return stuff like this and the $189 pricetag was not bugging me even if I only used it a few times. It was the accumulation of issues. The store says they will return it to company with "customer dissatisfied" as the reason. So this morning he goes outside to check out the wind. Yeah, he sticks his nose out and just sniffs with his eyes shut. The neighbors boxer pup was running circles in his yard, jumping around like a kangaroo. So naturally my 2yr shephard had to join in. He barked a little but observing what they were both doing to each other it was clear it was puppy play. As soon as we asked him to Leave It and come Inside he obeyed wagging his tail. I felt bad for neighbor pup. From my upstairs window I could see him just staring at the fence with his little head tilted. I swear his eyes were tearing up! lol I think I need to see if my neighbor would agree to take them to a dog park so they can really play together on neutral territory. That could be really fun.

Oh, I've done that too. I know it doesn't help, but you're not alone. My oops this morning was being too tired when I started sewing. I needed to hem a raveling washcloth & moved the setting to zigzag, looked at the foot to make sure it was the right one & hit the accelerator. Snap! It wasn't the right foot & that was my last #11 needle.

I think they are going to work and I like them. I would get rid of the blue pillows from the sofa and try to get something else that combines the blue with the other colors. I can see that the chairs might fit in better if the wood was darker. One thing about vintage style, if that's where you might be going, is that it gets better the more you add to it in terms of other colors and styles. In the beginning it can look a bit disjointed because it isn't "full" yet. Ralph Lauren does it best, and the link from Bellaflora is a great one. The more you look, the more colors and odd styles you see him combine. He's a master at that. I get a lot of inspiration from his site. I have lusted after this wood Pottery Barn flag for years. (Link below.) I think it might be perfect over your sofa or fireplace. It's quite large---50" x 27" I think. ps. I would straighten the rug too. It seems off. Hello Hollyhocker ... Wish I could give you some of my morning glories ... they are like weeds in my back garden ... grow up my fence arch about 12' and reseed all over the place ... by the end of the summer they have grown over everything ... and all this started from one little pack of seeds about 10 years ago. You must live in a rural area to have deer,rabbits and woodchuck ... I live on the island where the critters you have watch out for are the LARGE SUV'S... I would rather have the furry kind! I didn't save any seeds last year that would be an early variety, so I don't think they would be an early one. Unless I used seeds from a few years ago, I had some black cherry and some other cherry seeds.
Brandywine and Brandy boy are out because they have regular leaves.
I think they are blooming because I put them in the 3 gallon pots about mid December and it is a very warm room. They are probably root bound and stress will force blooms, or so I've heard.
They are growing like an indeterminate, lots of branches.

Last year I grew two Red Robins. One was normal but one plant grew tiny round pleated tomatoes. Had to be a wrong seed. The pleated ones were spitters. Insult to injury !

Yeah. Rosella has RL. It is so obvious. They already have 4 true leaves. The other one with PL also has about 4 true leave and twice as tall. I just separated them. I labeled the other one " ?1 SURPRISE !!??" . It is very vigorous. That is why I am keeping it.

Update!

I gave up on them and trimmed them all back so that I could keep them alive, except two plants that I gave to our secretary at the shop. She put them in a very sunny window in her office. I don't have a sunny window at home so all of my light has to be artificial.

They have ripening tomatoes on them now and I am pretty sure that they are black cherry plants because of the color and size of the fruit. They are very tall and spindly but have fruit! She will have fresh toms before anyone! :)

I planted the ones that I trimmed back in an old bed over a week ago and they are growing fast! They had a lot of roots and they will probably be my first toms too. I'm not too crazy about the taste of black cherry, but since they are early I'm sure they will be better than store bought, I can accept that!
