Well, I Went Bargain Hunting Today . . . and Scored!
Comments (9)Thanks for your kind words . . . and your enabling (LOL) ;^D I do have to make one correction, though: the gold & white plates were $1 each, not $2. Patty: girl, you get out a lot! I've seen your bargains, but if you want to zip down here, we can go out bargain hunting together and really do some damage! Jane: you have the turquoise? I saw a few of those recently; they're lovely! I have 4 (or 6?) of the same pattern in the cream and really like them. It's scary when you have so many dishes you can't remember things like that! You should have seen DD yesterday when she saw the 3 new groups of dishes (ROFLMAO). There was a lot of eye rolling! Jeanne: yes, you are a very bad/good enabler! I plan on checking out some tablescape pics here to inspire me. Kathleen: thanks. If you have any pics of white & gold tables, I'd love to see them. I need inspiration. Punk: Thanks! I'm anxious to get started on the plates....See MoreWell, well well, I need that information that was
Comments (6)My sister told me a story about dirt dobbers just a couple of months ago.She was telling about having one in the house when she was a child and she was running around screaming about it.Our grandma told her they didn't sting and not to be afraid of them, then she grabbed it in her hand and carried it outside.Sis said Grandma winced when she closed her hand on it so she knows it must have stung her but she never said a word. So,I guess they do sting if they are squished in a closed hand! LOL...See MoreWell, I can no longer say I'm "no-spray".....
Comments (15)lplantagenet -- Yes, this year some roses were looking rather rougher than usual, hence my decision to intervene somewhat. Again, part of that was that I didn't get to do post-flush pruning last year, and things were growing everywhere. Now that I've cut back quite a few roses, they can sort of "reset" and grow anew. Before I hit them with the spray yesterday, new growth was already getting dusty, and I didn't want that carrying through any further. jerijen -- I hear you about toxic side-effects from some other fungicides, and that's why I won't use them. Normally, I don't mind some roses going naked after the first flush, because what I've come to observe is that their first set of leaves don't seem "built" to handle Summer conditions here -- they seem more "built" to handle the cooler temperatures of leaf-out time in April. But this year, bad foliage was coinciding with the first flush, at which point I felt it was too late to do anything, since anything sprayed would get all over the blooms. I felt the need to do something, since powdery mildew had run rather rampant. It wasn't about "perfection" so much as it was about keeping things in check -- a little bit here and there I can tolerate, but not great swaths of it. So far today, I don't see burned foliage, but I do see a sharp reduction in the white dusting. I'm guessing that at the moment, it's simply smothered rather than actually killed. We'll see how things look after the sporadic rain forecast for the next few days. :-) ~Christopher...See MoreWell, I've had better days! (Warning: medical/blood/general TMI)
Comments (52)Wow, I can imagine how fearful you were to go under general anesthesia, especially with hemorrhaging and dropping blood pressure! But thankfully you were at the hospital and in good hands. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, which may have been a fetus medically, but was of course, a potential child, to you and your husband. The fact that you did get pregnant naturally, is a good sign. It means that you are not infertile, so I'd think your chances of a successful pregnancy, whether natural or through IVF, will be great, since you have proof that you were able to conceive. Take the time you need to recover physically and emotionally, then look forward to planning your 'rainbow baby,' with all our best wishes!...See MoreUser
