Thoughts on chrome trim around tiles? Will it date bathroom?
Comments (13)If your spidey sense is acting up and you aren't comfortable with what you're seeing, stop him now! I suggest a heart to heart with your contractor. What can be done at this point depends upon what happened, i.e. whether this was something you talked about and agreed to during the design stage, or whether he just started doing it on his own, which would seem a bit odd. But even if you originally agreed to it, if you don't like the way it's turning out, don't let him continue. You might have to pay for him to re-do the part he's already done, but better to do that now and end up with what will make you happy rather than to not speak up, feel totally uncomfortable with the whole thing, and end up hating your beautiful new bathroom! I usually know to follow my gut on stuff like this because our guts are usually more accurate than our heads. :-) You're the boss here. it's YOUR bathroom and you should make sure it's what will make YOU happy! No need to be confrontational or to blame him for it not turning out how you'd hoped. Just a "Hey, we really need to talk about this trim; it's not doing for me what I'd hoped Can we sit down and talk about some options?" Your contractor, if he's a good one, will want you to be happy as much as you want you to be happy. Hope this helps! :-)...See Morehelp me update my almond bathroom
Comments (7)I had the acrylic tub/shower in our main bath sprayed over 5 years ago. It went from harvest gold to white. We have had no problems with chipping or peeling, looks as good as it did when it was done. I would definitely do it again, just be sure to get someone with really good experience/references....See MoreHelp Me Select Bathroom Tile
Comments (0)I am just starting the task of redoing our hallway bathroom which serves a guest room and would serve an additional bedroom if that room was not being used as an exercise room. I went out to look at tile the other day. Have not looked at tile for years so was unprepared for the vast number of choices out there. How well do the patterns of honed marble made up of many small pieces hold up? They are lovely to be sure but I was left wondering about all that grout to seal/clean and how often you need to seal the honed marble to keep it looking nice. There were also many small glass tile patterns that which made me wonder similar questions. Our house was built in 1903. The tub/shower in this room has a window in it measuring 27 wide by 36 tall. Right now there are 1 foot size tiles in that area. The present tile is a sore point as I have never liked it. There is a complicated story behind how we ended up with it but i won't bore you with it. We still love the kitchen we designed and built with the kind guidance of Gardenweb so hoping for similar results with this bathroom redo. Thank you, Michele D....See MoreHelp me update my 1940's bathroom
Comments (22)I'm guessing your existing bath is about 15' long. That's not "slightly bigger" than 11' long, that's 36% bigger. 4' makes a world of difference in bathroom design, as it gives you room for a tub at the end. I guess I can see one (crowded) solution: put the toilet where the vanity is now, put the vanity in the alcove, tear down the wall between tub and toilet, put a tiny 3x3 shower in the corner (you might be able to eke out 3'x4' if you're lucky), and a tub next to it. This will work if you hate tub/shower combos more than you hate tiny showers. I wouldn't do it, because I like me some elbow room. But we all have different preferences, so that might work for you....See Moreasm198 - Zone 6a (MO)
