Help! Remodeling Bathroom-are almond fixtures dated?
Comments (7)I think you need to ask yourself a couple of questions, to answer your question. Do you like the color? Yes, then go for it. Will you be selling the home soon? If so, I'd say no, as others may see it as dated. But, if you plan on staying in the house for a while, then go for it. You have to live in it, you should like what you see. I am installing brass fixtures in my basement bath- brass was common to the era of my home. Some think it's out of style, but it works for me and my home's style. I started buying fixtures 3 years ago, and won't be installing them until next year, and guess what- brass is coming back into favor again! Who knows, almond may come back in style too....See MorePlease help me with my bathroom!
Comments (7)Pretty bathroom. I would probably change the wall color to a crisp white with some grey in it... like Benjamin Moore’s decorator white. The cabinet hardware goes really nicely with the other fixtures with those straight lines that everything has... but that kind of hardware drives me bonkers when I’m actually using a bathroom (or kitchen for that matter) because clothing and cords get hung up on them. So I’d go for something that looks similar but doesn’t leave any material hanging out for something to get caught on so easily. I usually go with bright white towels, but I nice, light grey towel would probably look better in this room. Some light pink accents would also look very pretty....See MoreUpdating an Almond/beige bathroom with which gray paint?
Comments (14)Thank you everyone for some great ideas. There is no natural light, but it really isn't as yellow as it looks in the photos. Probably a really good idea to prime first and then look again at my swatches. The gray idea came from another post about a bathroom with almond fixtures. In that discussion it was mentioned that white or cream makes the almond/beige fixtures and tiles look dirty. They had finally decided on a gray color (SW Mindful Gray) that had some warm tones in it. From the photos, it looked good, but I know it is difficult to tell in a photo. I think if I go that direction, I might need to rethink the shower curtain....See MoreHelp me update my 1940's bathroom
Comments (22)I'm guessing your existing bath is about 15' long. That's not "slightly bigger" than 11' long, that's 36% bigger. 4' makes a world of difference in bathroom design, as it gives you room for a tub at the end. I guess I can see one (crowded) solution: put the toilet where the vanity is now, put the vanity in the alcove, tear down the wall between tub and toilet, put a tiny 3x3 shower in the corner (you might be able to eke out 3'x4' if you're lucky), and a tub next to it. This will work if you hate tub/shower combos more than you hate tiny showers. I wouldn't do it, because I like me some elbow room. But we all have different preferences, so that might work for you....See Moreteeda
