Bathroom paint advice (lots of wood/almond/gold)
Comments (2)I can't help with color. I tend to chose "bright and bold" myself and that's a bit against the current popular trends. I will say this about the metal tub trim, for what it's worth. I had similar trim surrounding the main tub when we lived on the base. The Housing Office let me remove the glass doors - no way was I going to try to keep them clean - but that left the metal frame that hurt my foot every time I got in the shower, was the devil to clean, and was very uncomfortable to lean over and against in order to clean the tub. I got out the power screwdriver and removed all of it. Yes, it left a few holes along the tub, and three up each side of the tiled walls, but I carefully filled them with caulk and never gave it a second thought. The small filled holes were much less bothersome than the frame. There was no water damage, and believe me, before we moved the housing inspectors tried their best to find some, LOL. Since our house was scheduled for demolition once we retired, I did not have to replace the glass doors and frames that I had carefully and thoroughly cleaned, wrapped, and stored in the basement. So if you don't like the large expanse of gold trim around the tub, and you don't mind a few dots of caulk, remove it. You'll more than likely be very pleased with the results. I have that very same cabinet over the toilet in our basement bathroom. It's as sturdy as can be, very well made, very useful, etc...so I just decided to embrace it's '60s glory and use it as is. You could change the handles and switch out the sink faucet. Once you pick a paint, remove the tub trim, and maybe change the faucet you can just celebrate having a functioning and not-bad-at-all bathroom....See MoreWarmer paint color to go with beige bathroom tile?
Comments (6)Simply White has a yellow tone. The tile has an orange tone. If you stick with colors with tones of yellow to orange, no matter how light or gray they are, they will work. 903 Pirates Cove Peach is a near match to the tile. I split the difference in tones between the tile and Simply White, then increased the saturation to get both 176 Goldtone and AF-305 Ylang Ylang from Benjamin Moore. Below is a photo showing all these colors on your wall. I cannot say that my color rendition is exact, nor can I say that your monitor will produce these colors the same way mine does. However, I found the color names for those I produced via an online program called Easy RGB....See MoreNeed quick decision on paint color for beige tile bathroom

Comments (11)Boy, thanks so much both of you for the thoughts and advice! I really do appreciate it. To answer a few questions .. I am trying to do it on a budget but NOT a $500 DIY budget. I think I’d be happy in the 2-3k range. I’m looking to sell in the next couple of years so I don’t want to spend tons (or as much as I would if I were staying) yet want it to look updated . I think double sinks is preferable as it’s really a kids bathroom and most families in this size house have more then one kid. Of course my 17 year old daughter gets it all as my 16 year old son has always been pushed out to our master bathroom lol. It’s not that bad as he spends about 2 minutes in the bathroom. I’d love to make the tub and tile white but figured that’s 1k at least eating into the budget so was trying to see if there was a way to make it look decent . The vinyl tile or to go with it I decided on price point and the fact that luxury vinyl really to me is looking pretty good and not so fake anymore but would love real tile. To rip out old and put new though even though it’s not a big space is going to be more $ then vinyl. I personally love the stencil idea and looked at tons of videos but realistically I don’t have the time myself to do it. That’s a little more on the project....See Morejulieste
