I'm not sure if they are seconds, but the same thing happened to me. The 2 by 3 was a much different blue than the 8 by 10. I didn't use the smaller as a basis on which to order like you did, but they almost looked like different manufacturers. I think mine was Surya.

Try looking on Paylessrugs.com -- put in the actual name and/or number of rug in the search box -- they carry a lot of Momeni and usually have a 20-25% discount code that makes prices better than Overstock. Not sure of return policy -- might have a restocking fee. Other option is to ask Rug Studio to match price -- many will match a published on-line price.

I don 't have an answer for you but I can say inconsistency in dyed textiles is always something to consider. Reading comments from customers on any given site, it is apparent there are differences in products or vastly different expectations from people ordering on line. It is always a risk to order from a picture. Even if you ordered the larger rug from the same place you found the smaller, I would say different dye lots might not be perfect matches. I ordered a large area rug with much trepidation from Overstock. Comments were very mixed. I like you, could not resist the price and the free shipping. I could not be happier with my rug.

Luckily overstock sent a replacement rug (well I didn't authorize it ...) and the replacement is great! I'm happy now, but I'll take note for future orders.

Similar thing happened to me. The rugs I ordered were inexpensive, and it wasn't a problem for me. But I did wonder why the disparity in color form one size to another.
