Gramercy Momeni Sage Area Rug - Have you seen in person?

Well, I still haven't purchased a rug for the family room (despite photoshopping so many last year). I came back and reviewed my old decisions and think I have made up my mind.

I know I 'should' order the smallest size of this rug to make sure the color works but maybe I don't have to? (I just want to pull the trigger!!)

Have you seen this rug in person? Do the colors I'm showing look true? Sueb20 - you have this, no? Any feedback as to how it's worn?

Also - I'm looking at the 8x11 size; available at RugStudio for $999 with 20% off, so $800. Free shipping. Can anyone suggest a source with a better price?

I think it is PERFECT! With it you have a good foundation for your inspiration room / color scheme. What fun!

And I am amazed you can buy a rug that size for that price, that is a deal!

Val: I know this was a very hard decision for you. Bravo to you for giving it a try despite all the drama involved. :) It took us a long time to find most of our rugs. Some we loved to death and had a hard time talking ourselves out of because of one reason or another. When we did find the right ones, it was like it was meant to be... right color, size, condition, etc..... We were able to bring them home, put them down and just stop thinking about whether they were right or wrong because they were perfect for us in every way. There was never any second guessing. I know there are rugs out there just waiting for you to find them. Don't exhaust yourselves trying to find one w/in a set time frame. Shop when you have the time and the energy. It may take months, or it may just take days... but please take your time and enjoy the journey. One more thing. Some dealers may seam snooty, and some may even BE snooty... but the good ones know their stuff and want you to be happy w/ your rug. Some will want to educate you and some won't want to bother. Never tell a dealer what your budget is as some will never show you any less than your upper range. If pressed, just say that you must keep it under $xxx, which should be less than you really are willing to spend. I look forward to seeing your future finds!

Oh Geesh, that's about 180 flip from "The realtor (haven't signed with her yet) said if you're not going to change it all, just leave it the way it is, even suggested don't worry about taking down the peach floral wallpaper and leaving up the lace valences." So, let's define 'move in ready'. Move in ready means a house is clean, functional, in good working order and devoid of decorating bizarre enough to injure somebody's sensibilities. I don't have anything against granite counter tops, but slapping them in has more to do with the stainless/granite/open trinity than making a home move in ready. It's a LUXURY. Of itself, it will not magically turn any house into what's hot. I don't think it will give you the return on investment that just pulling down the wallpaper or replacing the funky vinyl will. Now, since you aren't in a great rush to sell, you can keep sinking money into the house in hopes it will compete against the glut of stainless/granite/open homes at their level. Or, you can market it for what it is, and that is a very attractive 80s home someone has maintained well and has been tastefully redecorated for 21st century tastes and sell it accordingly and not buy into marketing gimmicks.

The angle of that last photo definitely shows the true size of the room....thanks for posting it! I like the blinds since they give a lighter, brighter feel. But hey, that's just my opinion. : ) And.........I have to agree with Caminnc's comment about the cushions re: color vs pattern. You have a lot going on with remodeling, so waiting on the window treatment may be wise at this point. Hanging some simple panels on each side of the window, along with the blinds, would change the whole feel of the room, but I understand you wanting to stay with the current WT. I think the white is 'glaring' at you because of all the other dark colors in the area and it appears to be the only white anywhere except for the flower stand. Finish the rest of the tear-out........and the white may grow on you!

Thank you everybody for your votes and chiming in on the blues/greens. I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one that likes the more blues/greens than the tans and warmer colors. So glad we are not all the same in what we like. I like both blue and greens. I will need to do sample boards though to check against the granite, my chairs and all the different fabrics I've got going on. I know the greens will work well with it since I've had it in a previous house, but I want to check the blues too since I love blue. The blues/greens just seem happier to me and of course they are my favorite colors too. I also like calmer colors vs. bright so these really seem to fit that bill. Here are the ones I like from squirrels awesome photoshopping. Of course this is on my monitor so may look different on somebody elses. This one looks happy to me still although a warm tone. It didn't look good on another monitor though so YMMV. Squirrel do you think you could do this one with my regular rug please? Doesn't seem happy to me, but still putting it in because something caught my eye with it. Although some are still darker than I like, but I still like the tones. This one is what I'm guessing BM Manchester Tan would look like, which is the back-up plan if I can't find anything else we like. The good thing about BM Manchester Tan is it picks up the colors around it and takes on a matching cast. I might have missed including some because on the current monitor several look alike to me and I can't tell a difference.

I think that rug must be related to a chameleon :). I checked the internet and the color changes from tan to sage green depending on the web site. I really like the pattern, but I am not sure of the color with your sofas ( they seem to be more gray with a hint of blue.)
I did see it on Overstock for 645 dollars. I have not seen any reviews there to indicate color accuracy, but they did have two photos, and even there the color looked different between the 2 photos.

I agree with Karenseb. Your picture above looks brighter than sage. This is what I see online, though either may work for you, I believe it will be a grayed green, like we typically think of sage green.

I found a site with two reviews that comment on the color, oldbat2be. They both say that instead of sage, it is more of an olive or army green Hope this helps.

Oldbat2be, as long as you've waited to purchase a rug, I'm afraid I would have to see a sample to commit to this. Of all items available to view and purchase online, rugs seem to have the worst representation on my monitor. I recently ordered 6 rug samples for my LR. The one that I thought *for sure* would work, doesn't. The one I added to my order as an afterthought, does work. Ordering without samples first is a crapshoot.

Yes, I have the same exact rug, but in charcoal. It's in the master bedroom, so not a high traffic area, but we've had it for a couple years and it still looks brand new. Seems high quality and it never did that shedding that's so annoying with some rugs. I think I also paid around $800 for the same size.

Holly-kay - IÃ¢ÂÂd love to order from RugStudio due to the excellent customer service youÃ¢ÂÂve mentioned; I may give them a chance to match the lowest price I find.

Karenseb - Thank you so much for the Overstock find, nice detective work! IÃ¢ÂÂm guessing at the pattern size and just hoping the color will be right. Yes, IÃ¢ÂÂve seen the same variance and am checking the pictures from every browser possible. The picture you posted I think is the same I photoshopped but something could have easily been lost during the copying and pasting and different programs; the Ã¢ÂÂpictureÃ¢ÂÂ of the rug in place does look lighter to me. I like the lighter green look. I originally fell for the rug in charcoal and am hoping any green in the sage version will be sufficiently lighter.

Voila - Checking the reviews is a good idea and I do it religiously for appliances (but didnÃ¢ÂÂt even think of it here). Thanks for the color feedback.

Sueb20 - so glad you saw this! Great to hear the carpet has stood up well. Did I get the size of the circles right this time?!

Peony4 - If this fails, I will definitely order multiple samples next time. As I checked out I was wondering whether I should have included a few others, just in caseÃ¢ÂÂ¦. Glad you lucked out with your sample selection. Have we seen pictures of what you selected? Please post :)

Keeping you all in the loop... expert shopper (ha) that I am, I ordered the sample from retailer A. Lead time=5 days. As the labor day weekend approached (and huge shout out to Karenseb), I found an additional 20% off on Overstock so placed my order late Monday assuming that I'd be able to receive the sample from company A before the rug from Overstock shipped.

Driving in to work this morning, I learned that the Overstock (full size) rug had shipped.... also learned around 1 PM that sample had been delivered... Took late lunch, zipped home, ripped open sample and.... huge sigh of relief :)

I think the colors are very similar to what I originally photoshopped. Rug is due Friday so I will post an update over the weekend. Huge sigh of relief, here :)

I love it, hooray! Interestingly, the circles are larger than in the small rug sample (which I like, very much).

On to the next projects for this room - reupholster chair, white built-ins and then tile fireplace.

OB2B, Yea! I love your new rug. It's beautiful and looks great with your furniture.

I am so glad that the color worked out for you so you didn't have to lug the rug (lol) to UPS to ship it back.
