Missing the Garden Web Already
Comments (8)"I feel betrayed by the sale of the Garden Web to Houzz." Initially I was very upset and very disgruntled, and had thoughts of going elsewhere to find a site with forums that I liked better than the new GW. Well, there just isn't, in my opinion anyway, a better all round site than Garden Web, with the Home Forums, and the Garden Forums, complete with the trading forums. Houzz has listened and met a lot of our needs and desires. See the link below. LINK...GardenWeb Updates I also noticed that today we have the capability of making the print BOLD or in italics. "But that didn't shut me up much. What did shut me up was being able to revert back to a gardenweb style background" I agree. As soon as I got the area surrounding the page set to the pretty morning glories I felt like I had arrived home. See screenshot of what I see now. If anyone wants information about getting morning glories set up, just message me from the link on my member page. hth. chemocurl...aka Sue...See MoreGarden Web was set to be closed down
Comments (25)Yes it is under message user, they must have it set in their profile that they will accept messages from anyone however. I don't remember any list of members profiles on GW? Where was that? I always just clicked on their name and went to their page to use the contact them through gw option. I have been on other forums that had an alphabetical user name list but don't remember that on gw? Here just click on their name or avatar. I completely disagree with the statement that this houzz thing is a crying shame. What would be truly a crying shame is to have tried to come to our beloved KT - gw and find it wiped out and gone forever with nothing saved, nothing salvaged. I am extremely thankful houzz chose to save gw in tact! That is very rare. Usually if a conversion happens it starts fresh brand new they don't care about or bother with saving anything. It was a massive undertaking for houzz to do what they did. Personally I think there should be a lot more thank you than put downs to houzz, no matter why they chose to save it. I have been through a major shut down of a forum I was very involved with, one day we clicked on the link and were faced with a notice that the forum was closed nothing saved goodbye. We had a huge databases of recipes and crafts and projects that people had worked on for years. In the flick of a switch basically it was wiped out. That could well have been what happened here......See Morelist of articles on using Gardenweb to explain where Trade Section

Comments (5)It felt like Kansas, mid-July here yesterday. 105 degrees! I hear you on the changes. For a while, every time I opened a thread it opened a new tab in Google Chrome. I didn't notice till I went to sign out that I had 8 or 10 tabs open. Crazy! It isn't doing that anymore, thank goodness. I hate to see people post that they're out a here when they make changes. Change is frustrating, for sure. But I value the conversations here and still learn something every time I visit Houzz, be it plant wise or technology wise. A lot of people have migrated to Facebook's gardening sites, which I visit, but rarely as those posts on FB are more quick statements than conversations. I come here for more in depth communication and to catch up with my gardening buddies. Thanks for keeping the faith, Steve! Barb...See Moreannpanagain
