Northerner my favorite flower is a daisy or any type of daisy. Shasta daisy use to be a flower that I really researched out, did you know there is 150 different types of shasta daisy that luther burbank created?? I know that is totally irrelevant but I just had to throw that out there cause most do not realize there is that many different varieties of the plant. Anywho after falling in love with the shasta daisy white knight many years ago and purchasing seed and actually getting germination I was sadly disappointed the second year. Ended up that it was nothing like the white knight I had read about and it looked more like the alaska version. Well after more reading I found a website that actually listed the white knight as an f1 hybrid. Now I do not remember what website I read that on and I do not know if it is true, but it could explain why you had low germination and why I had an alaska look alike. How I actually started my seeds were actually direct sown. I direct sowed them in my unamended clay soil in full sun. I had pretty good germination, I did not do a cold treatment prior. Northener I have currently of the shasta daisy collection, silver princess, alaska, becky, and snow lady. My favorite of the ones I have grown is the becky. She does not flop, she has a long bloom period and she is evergreen here. I plant her anywhere in my yard regardless of shade or full sun and I get great results. The blooms are about 3" in diameter, and they make a great cut flower. I have never had a problem with disease or pest and I am the type of person that hates to drag out a hose so I rarely water so she is also drought resistant. Currently I have a clump that I can dig up that is not budded yet that I would be more than happy to send to you for postage. That is if you are interested. Just email me and we can discuss that further if you want. Oh and after I found that out about the white knight either last year or the year before, I tended to lose interest in the shasta daisy. I just decided I have good faithful becky and I am happy. Now if someone offered me a clump of broadway lights or sunny side up I would probably be on that like gum on the bottom of a shoe, lol. Thanks Smoochas!! Honestly, I really don't know what I'm doing,lol...I'm one of those that cut...and then wonder if I've done the right thing? Josh is giving you the right advise. I really need to follow his advise for the next "whacking"...He knows what he's talking about. PG is right about rooting taking so long especially in this heat. I had a small cutting that took over four months to start putting out a "few' tiny roots and that was in the fall/winter(which is the best time for me to root Jades) ...its very hard to have patience believe me I know. I wasn't blessed with much. Don't give up and good luck!

I found myself in this complex step family situation due to death not divorce, however, from what I hear ... the grieving process of a divorce is similar to that of the grieving process of a death. After extensive counseling ... the point they all seem to drive home is ... My life has changed, It is forever different. I am different now. I can never go back to the way it was. I accept this new life and make the best of it. My personal point ... What doesnt break you makes you stronger. It almost broke me ... I blew the scale off the stress charts ... In less then two and 1/2 years (just the HIGHLIGHTS in chronological order) ... I got married, I had my first child. Bought a new house. Just found out that second child was to be a Boy. Husband was killed in a car accident. Moved into a fixer upper my high-energy husband wanted. Roof leaked, needed new furnish, etc... Change of occupation (Over ten years experience programming computers for fortune 500 companies - to a full time stay at home single mom, that had never changed a diaper, until the birth of my first child). Gave birth to second child who had an undiagnosed ear problem (stupid doctor - I switched pediatricians). This child never slept more then one hour at a time until I had tubes put in his ears at 1 year. No one would keep him over night. I had to beg (which is very difficult for me) friends and family for a few hours once a week (if that often) so I could sleep. The sleep deprivation almost sent me over the edge. I found strength in my children. I forged on. Things got better. I now believe more in myself and my abilities. I am stronger now, an independent women and I have confidence that I can conquer any twists and turns life may throw my way. I have emerged with more confidence in myself and who I am. I realize that I will do anything for my children's well fare. Remember Lea, you beat the odds, you made it out of an abusive relationship. I admire you and your strength. Accept it. learn from it. Thank your parents for giving the brain power and instilling the strength in you to over come such a hurdle. Maybe some sort of volunteer work to help others in abusive relationship, might ease your sole. And Yes, writing just the highlights, still brings tears to my eyes.

Hi senior gal, What a great change you and the class helped Tommy to achieve - thanks for being not only so perceptive, but so persistent as to get it started. I'm so glad that you were able to meet his sister, by happenstance, so many years later. I think, though, that this is not the end of the story. Unless there may be a reason not to pursue it ... how about looking Tommy up? Or, if travel isn't convenient, would his sister be willing to instigate his coming to see you? I'll bet that he'd agree to such a proposition and probably not take more than an instant to agree to do so. ole joyful
