anybody have USA Pans?? Love them/hate them??

hello all,

just bought 2 cookie sheets at home goods for $9.99 18x14...they are selling on amazon for $19.13, so price is great...
never saw HG carry this brand before..
was going to order Vollrath from "webstaurant.com but thought these looked comparable...

wondering and hoping they perform well....
have great reviews on Amazon but had to ask you guys for some real feedback....

I have some from Sam's Club, 2 for a bit less than $10.00, the first ones said "Polar Ware", the others just said "USA", so they could be the same.

If so, I love 'em. I have 10 now, some were mine, some were my DH's before we married and then we bought more for weddings, etc.

I use them for everything from Texas Sheetcake to Veggie Pizza to cookies to roasting vegetables, possibly the best buy ever for me.

I have 2 USA Pan loaf pans that I love. I have also bought the 9x13 pan and a square pan, but I haven't used them yet. They were on sale at Williams-Sonoma.

If there is a minus, it is that you are not supposed to use them above 450 degrees. DD baked bread in my loaf pans at 500 degrees (or maybe it was 475) and I thought the coating felt a tad different afterwards. I've since used them for pound cake with no problem.

The other drawback is they must be handwashed. But that is not a very big drawback for me.

If the beneficial insects that feed on thrips and aphids are attracted to certain plants, it makes sense (to me, anyway) to plant those beneficial- insect attractors as some of the companion plants to roses. I tried doing this in Alabama, and it either worked pretty well or I didn't have much of a thrips problem anyway. I don't ever use pesticides in the garden either, as I am aware that there is an entire universe going on at the insect level that I don't see or much understand. I also do believe what Hamp and buford say, that there are some roses that are thrip magnets. It would be fun to make a list of those sometime. For my use, the freezer would not be good. We like having a lot of cold drinks and some snacks. Having bottled water in there (even if we fill ourselves) has taken the place of the water and ice dispenser on the larger fridge and eliminates the need for ice in a lot of our drinks. We definitely use the fridge space enough that I would nto want the freezer space. My main fridge is about 12 feet away across the kitchen also. When we entertain, I can set up an ice bucket or put ice in the freezer just outside the door, maybe 3-4 feet from the drawers. I think the choice is all about your placement and use. In a gameroom or bar, away from the kitchen, I can see the appeal of having the ice. But if ice is all you would use the freezer for, you could also get a 15" ice maker and have the best of both. Sounds like yours near the mudroom and rear door might be a spot kiddos would be able to get frozen pops or treats in the summer -- and take them, and the drips, outside. Does that help any?

I have one and love it. One of the best things about my kitchen. However, it's not a corner one, it's a straight one (opening is 36" IIRC). And it's not a tambour (roll up) door. It's a lift up pocket door. The pocket door was a requirement for me. The door does stay closed when appliances are not in use. If you're going to just leave it open, don't bother getting one. My old kitchen had only one plug and all my appliances sat on the counter, plugged into a strip, cords tangled, and the whole thing looking messy and cluttered. I could not WAIT to hide all that but at the same time could not stand the thought of getting those appliances out of a cabinet. I use some of them almost daily! The appl garage solved that problem beautifully. My kitchen is almost six years old and I still LOVE it. Pix are on the FKB. Oh! I forgot to say, it actually IS in a corner which you can see in the pix. But it doesn't face out into the corner, it faces out into one of the legs of the L. This gives it the advantage of using a corner which would otherwise be very much underused while still having the wide pocket door.

Howdy all ... coming back to this to update on the LG range I recommended... Two things I'm not entirely thrilled with... 1. The knobs have a tendancy to "melt" on the bottom - the heat coming from the top oven distorts the bottoms of the knobs. Something LG is very aware of and will send out a replacement set without question, but still ... will have to replace them every 3-6 months? Ugh. 2. The oven doors - there is an open vent along the top edge. Within the first month something spilled and it's a not an easy thing to disassemble the door to get in there to clean any "in-between" mishaps. I think our old Maytag double-oven had a similar issue, but because the windows were more opaque, it wasn't an eyesore that required immediate disassembly & cleaning. What I'm more than a little peeved about ... not LG's fault ... my husband was DEAD SET against an induction top. No way, no how, had to be gas, period. He's not exactly the cleanest cook - lots of grease spatters (but the results are SOOO worth it!)... now he's constantly griping about how difficult it is to clean. "Maybe I should have looked at induction, I mean, all of the pots & pans we have are compatible..." DOH!!!!

I have one pan that was a "mad moment" purchase two Christmas' ago. I use it a lot for roasting vegetables, baking chicken pieces and lots of breads, rolls, and cookies. At $10, I thought it was a good buy and wish now that I had bought more of them.

I bought my pans through King Arthur Flour and I'm sure they're USA pans -- I absolutely LOVE them for gluten-free baking. I had no idea they had a 450F top limit, but just checked the KAF website and see that is true.

I've just finished replacing all of my cookie sheets and baking pans with USA pans. They are wonderful! Veggies don't burn when I roast them and cookies don't stick.

Oh my, I see that the next time WS has them on sale, I need to pick up some cookie sheets! Y'all are such enablers!

I just did a search, and it shows up as being a corrugated bottom. Are yours corrugated??

Mine are slightly corrugated all over - sides and bottoms. I like the design it makes on the sides of pound cakes.

my cookie sheets are, corrugated....it says "fluted surface for even baking, heavy gauge aluminized steel, safe and natural non-stick silicone coating, manufactured by the world's largest producer of commercial bakeware,
in the middle it has the logo "USA PAN" with a star between the two words...

going to try out tonite...!!

just wanted to follow up:

used the pans to make to 2 batches of cookies and 3 batches of biscotti and the pans were spectacular!!!

no sticking, even cooking and cleanup a breeze

2 thumbs up!!!

i'm hoping to go back to HG and buy some more :)
