Anybody buy appliances off Ebay?
Comments (6)I very successfully purchased a gagg double oven and combi steam oven from an ebay vendor, got them half price because they were discontinued. They claimed they were new in the box but, though the double oven looked like it still had the factory wrapping on it, the trim was severely damaged at the top. The company I bought it from scheduled a local Gagg repair tech to come out; he ordered the part and replaced it. No problems at all. Now, I haven't installed them yet but Gaggenau told me the warranty begins on the installation date so I'm not worried. Because these were high ticket items, I emailed a couple of other buyers listed in the feedback and got very positive responses. So, that's what I would recommend. Check out the feedback, find someone who has bought the item you're interested in (or something similar) and contact them. Also, contact the manufacturer and be sure they'll honor the warranty if the product is bought from an unauthorized dealer....See MoreKitchen Appliance size incompatible with Appliance Garages
Comments (0)I Believe Kitchen Appliance manufacturers may be, out of ignorance, limiting their market share in removing model sizes compatible with Appliance Garage size Generally 10+" deep by 14+" high (tambor door)and 24+" wide.I believe the model unavailability is reducing kitchen garage popularity in response to the appropriate model size availabilities. I believe that any manufacturer advertising appliance model size options compatible with fitting in appliance garages to help people keep their counter tops uncluttered, with a quality appliance will not capture market attention as being attentive to the needs of the customer and dramatically increase sales. For some it only meas re-introducing prior, appropriately sized models with possible minor cosmetic changes. I have encountered this issue in replacing a toaster oven where, after extensive internet search, found only one an Elite cuisine two slice from Amazon (predominantly used in small kitchens and mobile homes. Prior to this I had GE/Black & Decker and other brands that were no more than 10+ inches deep. I also could only find one cone filter Auto-drip coffer-maker to replace my Braun "Aromaster" that was less than 14+' tall. It is a 12 cup Hamilton Beach and does not allow an option of a "permanent" type filter as the Aromaster did. Those of you share this concern, please, help in getting this into public discourse. Noting public trends in designing kitchens in stating kitchen garages are less popular doe us an injustice, as it does not look into the potential and likely causes of them. I believe it is the easy way of dealing with inconveniences, just adapting too them. Eventually, somebody will capitalize on meeting needs. In this case minimizing kitchen clutter and maintaining convenient access to storage and use of our kitchen appliances....See MoreFinal tweaking process! Huge appliance garage and cabinet heights
Comments (24)Yes, they sit on the counter there. I could probably put filters in the spice cabs...Might be a little shallow for coffee unless I put a smaller amount in a Tupperware container..That might work. I also have concerns about the height of my current coffee maker. It will fit, but will have pull it out some to fill and make sure the steam doesn't wreck the upper cabinets like it has done in my current kitchen! My trash pullout is right on that end of the island, so that would work ok. We're still tweaking the island...Am wondering if I should just go with a rectangle shape instead of the 3 sided one, but I wanted my sink to at least be on an angle to have a better view out the dining room window (large pond out there)which is on the left end of the floor plan. Also am wishing I could have the best of both worlds with part of the snack area raised (for better definition of the kitchen area, beacause everything is so open to living room at bottom of plan and dining room) and part lower for bigger work area--like maybe on the refrigerator side of the island...Boy, this is even confusing me!!...See MoreAnybody ever buy used appliances?
Comments (5)I bought a used fridge in our last house on the advice of my real estate agent. We had just listed the house, and my fridge went kaput- in panic mode- I really didn't know what to do. I didn't want to fork out big bucks for a fridge to give to someone else! I wasn't even aware you 'could' buy used fridges! Anyhow, it was fantastic. I think it was about $200, and way nicer than the one it was replacing- it was from a house sale, where the new owner wanted all brand new. We had our house for a year (ughhh- took a long time to sell), and it was fine, have no idea how long it lasted. But as PP stated, we moved into this house and put up with their old fridge for about 9 years before replacing it! Still have their old, old one in our basement! But, before you snap this offer up, look around at used, esp Craig's List- you may find even better deals, or be able to counter offer!...See MoreChristine Clemens
