Tami Oh lost dog

hey Tami, my friends people were up from North Carolina 2 weeks ago and lost their black lab in the Pheasant Run area. Could you keep an eye out or if you hear of anyone finding a lost lab between there and Grafton Elyria area let me know. His name is Jackson..thanks Ive misplaced your email (got a new computer and not sure yet how to use it)

Renie50 - is that any where near Misenheimer NC? My nephew goes to college there... I can put him on alert if you'd like.

thanks but they were up here in Northern Ohio when the dog got away from them, and now hes lost up here. They were visiting relatives here. They live by the ocean in North Carolina I cant remember the name of the town there. They had to leave to go back home the next day and they were devastated to leave and not know when or if they will ever find him. Tami lives about 20 minutes from me, and about 10 minutes from where he was lost. I sure hope someone finds him soon. There are posters and feelers out all over and so far no responses but you can definitely send prayers up for Jackson to be found and I do appreciate your offer for help!!

Sounds like she's really small -- in that case, if you still want to consider a harness, look in the cat-gear department. Really! They make harnesses for cats, too, and that would be a better fit. (I can't tell you how hard I laughed when I first saw a cat being walked in a harness...) Congrats on your "official" dog now. I can't imagine how that dog would've ended up on the loose when you found her. Maybe it got away from its owners who were traveling through the area (but why they wouldn't contact all the vets within a 100 miles -- as I would've done -- is beyond me). Or maybe they just couldn't afford to keep her anymore (but if I were in that situation, I would so want to make sure she went to a good home). Regardless, you all seem to be fitting in well with each other. Many happy walks together!

Olga, thank you for your condolences. You mention that we should consider a better containment system. Ironically, we were installing a fence around the five acres surrounding our house when this happened. The day after Lucy was lost, the crossboards on the fence were installed. Previous to us deciding to install this fence, we had installed an invisible fence; however, Lucy was such a sensitive girl, that she would quiver and be frightened when we put her collar on - that's why we decided we needed a real fence. Additionally, we actually own an additional 20 acres of land around us and we never thought she would run far enought to reach a busy road. Unfortunately, she spotted a deer that night and ran after it. Now that the fence is installed, it is a constant, daily reminder of our loss. I just don't want you to think we were totally irresponsible - we really are devoted, loving, responsible pet owners. The only good thing to come of this is the compassion people have shown us (as you all did on this forum). We have people, who don't even know us, calling with condolences. I think people are more aware these days of how much animals become an intregal part of our lives. Had this happened 25 years ago, I don't think we would have seen the outpouring of concern that we see today.

I keep thinking...what if it was one of the bigger dogs.Could I have pulled him back in? I don't think I could have pulled Rock back,he weighs 60 lbs. Michie is only 8/10 lbs.He was almost gone,his head was even with the window frame when I got him. I didn't think I'd get him. Luck was on my side.I dreamt about it last night. Poor little guy,his eyes were big as saucers. I left him up front to sit on my lap the rest of the way. I feel so stupid but wanted to warn everyone about what could happen if you don't lock the windows. OUCH! On shutting those windows on your arms and fingers! I want the old wind style windows back! LOL! They are safer for humans and animals alike, in my opinion.

Have you thought of alerting the shelters in that area and the pound stating that you'd be grteful etc it might work.
I'd telephone each one it could be worth it to you to get your pet back.

I haven't been home all day. Thanks, Petaloid, for emailing me. I haven't seen or heard of one running around. Minnie has a good idea, tho. Send them the phone numbers of the APL and the county dog warden. I'll keep an eye out, tho.

They have called and contacted all rescue groups, vets, dog pounds, kennels, placed fliers, etc. I told them to put it on our local cable as it is free, and covers alot of territory. they really have tried about everything. I just keep trying to think of something else. He had on a green collar. Just keep good thoughts for them and Jackson, they could use a Christmas miracle this year! And thanks to all for the bump and thanks to Tami for keeping an eye out. I just thought maybe someone in her area might try and give her a new dog:)
