I should introduce myself again

It has been quite a long time since I posted here. I doubt very many will remember me. I live in sw Washington.

We are retired, have 3 kids (including boy and girl twins), oldest DD has 1 son and 1 daughter, #2 DD (girl twin) has 2 sons and 1 daughter and son (boy twin) has boy/girl twins. They are our youngest DGK. They range in age from 4 to 20. We have 2 schnauzers and 3 cats. We love RVing and plan to go to Wyoming to the Dinosaur Center this May-July to volunteer. DH works at the dig sites and in the lab and I work mainly in the lab. We worked there for 6 weeks 2 years ago. DH was merchant marine (mostly container ships) and I got to go many places with him. I loved that. LOL Now that he is retired most of our trips are around the US and Canada. We live on 10 acres in the country. We used to raise Christmas trees, had 9 llamas and 6 emu. Got rid of everything so we can travel more. Now all I have is the 16 goldfish in my pond and this years babies. There were about 40 but haven't tried to count them lately. I love all sorts of crafts and machine embroidery. Probably too much info but there it is. LOL

Welcome back to the table, Betty! I guess you take all your pets with you when you travel, how do the cats like that? Dogs are easy, cats can be a bit iffy.

I like crafts too and have a machine that embroiders but I've only used it to sew so far. I don't really have a need to embroider things. What do you make?

The Dinosaur Center sounds like fun!

Not all areas have the same laws concerning trees, but in my area, any of my neighbor's trees that are close enough for their branches to grow over my property, those branches become my responsibility. Any damage such branches do to my property, or to anyone on my property who get hurt under those branches puts me at risk of being sued, or responsible to pay for my damaged property. A few months back we had almost a week of off and on freezing rain that collected on the trees, and broke at least some of almost everyone in the area's trees. At that time city officials reported that if a person's tree fell on his or her neighbor's house or other property and caused costly damage, then under our local laws, the owner of the tree did not have to pay for the damages or even have to pay to have the tree removed from the neighbor's damaged house or other property. That seems totally wrong, to me. If that indeed is true, then it's my opinion that, in such a case, any neighbor should also have the right to cut down, or prune more of his neighbor's tree than just the parts which are spreading over the property line.

Welcome to the KT. This is a great bunch of people with a wealth of knowledge about all sorts of things. I've been up and down at the table for several years now due to the business of life. I too, am from Louisiana. I've been married for 35 years and have one living son. My daughter was killed when she was 19. I do oil painting and a little gardening. I have two grandsons and a granddaughter. I also have a teenage stepson. We live near them, so we see them often. Thanks for the chocolate. Thanks for starting this 1929Spanish and letting me ride your coattails. Ali, my feathers collection isn't that impressive to share actually but does involve a good story. A while back we hosted a neighborhood party where guests BYO drinks and there was a pretty little glass left on our porch that I found the next day. I posted a photo of it to our neighborhood facebook page so I could return it to its owner. No one responded so I put it on the desk in my office. Since then whenever I find a feather on my outings, I put them in this glass. It's got a few dozen feathers in it now so I may need to throw another party to get another glass.

Welcome back Betty. I've been here off and on for a few years. Sounds like you keep busy. Digs are alot of fun. I live in Florida now but was in Montana for quite a while before this and we had lots of dino digs in our area (Ft. Peck Lake). Largest t-rex on record came out of that dig.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. Two of our cats (1 was a stray who was pg and we kept one of her kittens)are outdoor cats so they stay home. They have a cat door into what was my shop and I have someone who comes by almost daily to check on them. The other cat, also a stray is not very people oriented. Since she has been rving she is getting a bit more mellow. Aside from DH and myself she usually is a black streak when someone comes. (out through the doggy door) She loves to get up on the dash and watch people walk by in the motor home. Then when I gets dark she wants to go out for a walk with the dogs. (all on a leash)
I don't make beautiful ornaments like Jenni. Her work is fabulous. Currently I am making welcome signs to be framed for my sister and our 3 kids. One with a gingerbread
couple, one santa and sleigh, one with snowmen and one with a penguin. Also doing towels with snowflakes made out of the recipients name. They are kind of cool. Decorating a couple of sweatshirts and a T-shirt for my sister and a chenille vest for my sister. Of course, these last things aren't embroidered. Also decorating candy bars with hats and scarves to look like snowmen for the GK. (Saw them on the craft forum) Speaking of GK I forgot to mention oldest DD has 3 stepchildren, 1 who we consider to be a GS. Long story short....their father has custody of him and doesn't see the other 2.
We do love the dino center and the people who work there. We stopped by for 3 days last year to visit with everyone. I never thought for a second I would love sitting for 8 hours a day hunched over a bone wearing a mask, ear plugs and goggles removing the matrix (rock) away with air scribes (like mini jackhammers) I was given a Camarasaurus foot to work on....it took me over 5 40 hour weeks to clean. It was then displayed in the museum with a placque that said it had been prepped by me. That was really cool!!!! We have been to the Museum of the Rockies in Montana a couple of times.
My GP lived in St. Pete. I lived there until I was 5... when we moved to Wa. I have cousins in the Brooksville area and in the north around DeFuniak Springs.
I probably won't get to ornaments until after Christmas but I will be ahead of the game for next year, LOL.... I know they won't be as nice as yours Jenni but if I don't show them pics of yours, no one will know. hehehe I will post a pic when I do get done.
I feel like I know so many of you. JoanMn emailed me when BonnyGranny passed away. I was halfway to HongKong on DH ship at the time. I am so glad to see how well Griff is doing.
