some days it seems like everything goes wrong!.. LONG

I wanted to save Lori some time, and pick up a gift certificate she wants to give her sister, thus I left home about 10:40AM. I also wanted to stop at the drive up bank, to cash a check, go to Office Depot to get some laser labels, and the grocery store for three items I forgot.

It took me till 2:00 PM to get back! Yuck!

The gift certificate place was still closed. I went to the bank first instead. The lines were short, but took forever. Thus, I turned my car off. No problems till I pulled up to the tube, and when I got my money the darn car would not start. CARP!

No chance of getting out of the car on the drivers side, I crawled over the passenger side to get out. Walked to the next (only) car behind me, and asked the fellow if he would mind backing up, my car won't start, and would be easier to push back then to turn the corner going forward. He backed up, and I went around my car (window was open in case I would need to turn the steering wheel) and started pushing. The guy was nice, and got out of his car to help, plus another fellow. They told me to get in my car and they would push, which we did. Then they wanted me to turn my wheel, and they pushed me the other direction to truly get me out of the way for other bank customers, and I rolled down in to a parking lot. Thanks guys! :)

Called Jerry, Ulrike was already gone. Drat, no vehicle to get rescued. Called Ulrike (daughter) but no answer.

Called AAA. 30 to 45 minute wait. Oh well... got my phone, called Lori, she is at the ABQ airport, and their plane is NOT coming today! Double drat, she will be late for sure! Ulrike calls, she didn't want to answer the phone as she was in traffic (nice to know about ones daughter!) and was at the store she wanted to be at. I asked her to call when she leaves, to see which will be faster, her or AAA. Then I start making "Merry Christmas" calls. Had a nice visit with Judy. AAA called, someone is on their way. Yeah! But it ended up taking them over an hour to get there. I put a blanket in my car now. It got to cold for me. I was glad I had gloves and a warm hat in there.

The AAA guy had no problem getting me going, and I went straight to Walmart and bought a new battery.

Meanwhile Jerry gets a phone call from the lady buying our bed frame. I KNOW I can not tell him where all the parts are, without loosing info between us. :) I call her, and re schedule.

WOW, what a day.

At least, the battery should not die at the airport when I pick up Lori and Doug.

Moni, sometimes it doesn't rain but it pours. I'm glad Lori and Doug will be coming in time for Christmas though.
Bummer about the battery. Another expense you didn't need on top of the chain saw, and whatever the 3rd thing was you had to get a few days ago.

Hi, Karen. Thanks! Well, they've been potted up for a couple weeks and I haven't messed with them to see if there are roots - afraid I'd ruin them for sure. Should I dig around? The ends were calloused when I potted them. No flowers but the tops have lots of green leaves & new growth looks good. I've been keeping them in less sun than I think they'd otherwise like since the rather fierce sun we have here can do a job on cuttings. Lorri

Here is my Rate and Review of godsgarden9 Fall Spectacular 2014 Lots of common mixes and unknowns. Packs labeled saffron that were actually safflowers, that you can get as bird food. Grapefruit and pomegranate seeds? Come on now! The bubble mailer I received wasn't nearly as fat as the one I sent. That was disappointing. There were some interesting packs of seed but not enough to bring me back to another one of Willy's Swaps. Be weary of this one, it looks like he has an ebay seed store too. Makes you wonder how many other names he's using to pedal YOUR seeds. Don't think he's going to send you what he's selling in his store either. I feel so sorry for you! These things are incrediably stressful. Hopefully, everything is working out for you by now. When we had problems with our kitchen I just kept telling the contractors, "We've spent a lot of money on this kitchen and I want it to be right." Then I got the moxie to change the word "right" to the word "perfect". It's your kitchen, it's a lot of money. You have the right to expect perfect. He shouldn't be telling you he can do the job if he can't. He has caused you and your family time and stress. One other angle I would try with him is, "This is unacceptable and has been going on too long. My family needs a working kitchen. I'm ready to move on. How would you suggest we get this handled?" Listen to him and keep stressing "This needs to be done right & handled in a timely manner." You might even state, at some time, "It may cost me as much to fix this as it did to get to this point." It seems you've been very patient with this guy and he now needs to get it right or you get a professional in to clean up his mess. I would get an estimate to repair his "work" and be ready to call them in. I would show him the estimate of the professional you choose and have him repay you the amount you are going to be out. It sure helps to vent, and what better place than here? You are trying so hard to be everything for everybody else that you've forgotten to look after yourself. Learn to say No now and then, and mean it. You might be a super woman, but Superwoman you aren't. So stop trying. Can you get occasional respite care for your mother? Try having a chat with the doctor, and the social worker at the hospital, or a local church or charity organisation. One day a week to yourself will be very rejuvenating for you. Pass the buck onto SIL if necessary. I have a friend who takes things on like you seem to, and people walk all over her with hobnailed boots. Now and then she remembers some good advice I gave her some time back - use the 'what if I were dead? ' tactic. In other words, if you got run over by a bus tomorrow, the world would still revolve, someone would step in to take over from you. They'd cope. So - sometimes, let 'em cope! Meantime, you need some free time, some space, and some freedom to live and breathe for yourself. You've earned that right.

Sorry you had a lousy day and had to wait so long for AAA. I have them but never had to call, knock on wood! Hope thing start going your way from now on.

I had a similar day, including the battery problem! Changed purses and didn't have my debit card, and only 2 checks. And, even though an hour away from home, I spent a large amount of time trying to duck someone I really didn't feel like having to stop and chat with. She caught me anyways! LOL

When I went to mom's this morning, she was on the phone talking to my sister, who lives 55 miles away, right by mine and mom's shopping area. To make a long story short, we did not tell my sister we were shopping at the mall by her house. Well, guess what! We had to call her and BIL to come get the car started. Turned out only to be a loose battery cable. LOL. Then we went back to their house for him to tighten it up good.

Mom felt guilty because we did not invite sis along to shop. I didn't feel the same guilt, and tried to convince mom she had a busy day of her own and was probably glad to not feel obliged to meet us.

MAN!! You should've eaten a live toad first off this morning and that woulda been the worse thing that coulda happened to you all day!! Glad you're back home and all snuggly warm...I'd say you've had all the bad days for the next year rolled into one...so i'm keeping my fingers crossed for you for brighter days ahead!

Was the battery old? I hope it wasn't some other underlying problem that caused it to go bad, Moni.

I hate days like that! It never fails they happen when you have the least amount of time to waste, too. Nice of those guys to help you move the car!

The car is a 2000 model. It was bought brand spanking new when we bought it. This is the first new battery for it, thus I think it wasn't to bad.

Best thing of all was: It didn't happen that night at the airport. Was really cold, snowing, the roadway was icy...

And, since then everything seems to work just right. We are having a GREAT time being together.
