I had to have a hysterectomy when I was 23 because of unending periods. Best thing that ever happened to me!!

It's better to have that surgical procedure we were discussing previously. It's much less invasive and accomplishes the same thing.

I don't know how you can even take that Provera. I was ready to climb the walls. I wish NO woman would ever agree to be put on hormones of any kind. I'm actually thankful that I got uterine cancer so that I could have a hysterectomy.....best surgery any woman could have.

I call the procedure "endometrial ablation", but there is another term for it. I would never have a hysterectomy just to control bleeding without trying this procedure, which is similar to a D & C. Years ago, women didn't have the option to have this, but it's a great option... practically no down time. It worked great for me.

Linda, I am already on anxiety meds so that might be WHY I have been able to take the hormone,lol. I was also on Depo-provera for 6 years and i think the provera pill is very similar. Because of my age (36), 24 years of VERY normal and predictable cycles, otherwise healthy, no kids, and no diagnostic reason for the weird cycles... I have to "jump through" some hoops before they (MD or insurance) will allow a more invasive surgical procedure (or at least that is my guess). I did make my preference for permanently getting rid of period VERY clear at the visit a couple of weeks ago, lol.

Susan, the GYN where I am going is one of only 3 in the area/state approved to do the eblasion procedure you told me about. Your suggestions of the eblasion is why I choose here.

Called the office and they altered how I take the Prevera. Now I have to remember which days to take it and which not to take it! Should be interesting. I marked the days on my Google calendar so hopefully that will keep me straight.

They also called in a prescription pain killer for the cramps. Before I take that, what do all of you take for cramps. Don't want to take something that will totally make me loopy if something over the counter might work.

I used to take motrin, but I was told to take it early on and not wait for the cramps to get bad (which I had a tendency to do). Good luck Janie!!

Can't help you with the cramps- the docs gave me a shot of something last time. I called them and told them to mark my chart to never ever give me that stuff again. I barely made it the 10 miles to home. Made my head swim and the nausea was horrid. I take a muscle relaxer for my neck and back so I just take one of those when the cramps get really bad. Or Midol. There is a new Midol out there for cramping that seems to work pretty well for me.

I am in your same spot and I am 44. I keep telling them they can take the parts out- I don't need them! Like you my insurance is having none of it. Sigh... they must all be men.

Thats exactly how I did ,all kinds of tests.I told gyn couldnt take it anymore couldnt plan vacastions etc always had it,they couldnt find anything wrong,I finally told her I wanted a hysterectomy she fought me tooth and nail,afterwards she told me its good I had a hysterectomy I had 4 things that if left go could have been serious.I tell you had I known it would have been that easy Id have had the hysterectomy sooner,it was easier than the births of my 10lb 12 oz yes allnatural..and 2 -10lbs after that..mine was vaginal,

I had to call them today because my right ovary (guessing that is the only organ in that areas)is giving me fits. Last night I got the prescription- heavy duty naprxon. It helped with the cramps but hasn't touched the ovary. MD office said that side had a "cycle cyst" and it was probably letting go but if the pain got worse to call back or go to the ER. It certainly is not the worst pain I have ever had but it is a gnawing, constant pain with occasional sharp pain.

Finally asked my mom about her hysterectomy and now she is slightly freaked out about me! She is not liking being 600 + miles away. I told her there is nothing she can do so she should just relax but ya know mommas! LOL

Those kinds of problems are the worst! I had a hysterectomy in 2000 when I was 44 years old. I started menopause when I was 36!!! By the time they took everything I was bleeding all the time. I was so glad!! I had my hormone levels checked and they found my estrogen level was three times as high as it was supposed to be. Then they did an ultrasound and found I had a big cyst on one ovary. They were afraid it might be cancer and I told them, TAKE IT ALL OUT!!! They did! It was much easier to get over than my recent boob reduction. I am so glad!!!! What a relief! Only side effect is that I now have to use a little estrogen cream in my peri area three times a week due to dryness.

Hey, could the hormones be causing your anxiety? Maybe if you got a hysterectomy your anxiety would go away. I did have to take some estrogen for several years after surgery but then I was weaned off of it by using an herbal cream, then I weaned off of that, too.

Bigbaby, not sure about an anxiety hormone connection. Had anxiety since late childhood but then that is about the time my hormones kicked in so who knows! i think by now it as much learned anxiety as it is chemical.
