Amiee&Kody Part2

Yes I have Amiees permission to post this.

As some of you know these two resumed their relationship last summer. Things are not exactly great. I'll sta rt off by reminding you Kody works M-F 8-4 never weekends and lives exactly a 11 minute drive from us. At first Kody was visiting Amiee an acceptable amount of time but by August that changed. He never visits during the week..ok so maybe he's tired after work, but not to tired to run every evening with his friends. He also never invites Amiee to join in. He generally only comes to see Amiee on Sundays showing up late afternoon and leaving around 7pm. He spends approx 5 hours a week with Amiee. I don't say a word, but I stand back watching, studying. ..things I notice is Kody has a bigger smile on his face, appears happier Sunday evening when he's leaving than when he arrives. I notice he spends a lot of time texting someone on his phone when he's here and I notice he appears almost depressed until 6ish when he announces he has to leave in about an hour.

I see it and I feel it...Kody does not have the desire to be here.

Amiee has ask me if I think Kody loves her....I didn't give an answer instead I ask her what she thinks...she said no mom I don't think Kody loves me. She ask me what she should do...I can't tell her what to do...Oh believe me I'd like to, but I won't. She must decide that on her own. But I did ask Amiee....are you happy, and content spending only a few hours a week with your BF....she said no but its better than nothing.....Oh NO NO NO....that statement woke me up. **better than nothing**

Help me out here folks. I can't allow Amiee to think a little bit is better than nothing. She is so good, kind, and way to innocent. There's a lot of guys in the world that would love to spend time with this girl. I suggested she let us drop her off one day soon at the card/hobbie shop where a lot of peers her age get together to trade cards and play card games. I explained it will be a good place to start making FRIENDS guys and gals. She has agreed....yea!!! This is not me telling Amiee to go find a new BF...she needs to get out and make friends period. We all discussed this before remember.

Personally I think once this girl gets out, talks to others, makes friends...she will no longer think a few hours a week is better than none. Shes actually excited to do this and has decided to go to the card shop next Wednesday. We will take her, watch as she goes in than leave. Its a safe place and has a hired security guard because of all the young people. Amiee has a cell phone and can contact me. I feel absolutly safe leaving her there and I won't be far away. I can hear in her voice and see in her eyes lately a new maturity...I think she's growing into her age which I think often takes longer with sick kids that haven't had as much socialization. Amiees about to develope a life of her own and I'm going to be standing on the sidelines cheering her on...silently if course.

By the way Kody was supposed to make a guest appearance this Saturday evening to spend the evening with Amiee but today he text Amiee telling her his mom wants him to stay home and watch movies with her....who wants to bet he's going out clubbing with his friends.

I guess I just needed to vent. LOL

IMHO Kody has a chicky on the side-that is who he sees thru the week after work.

THAT is who he is texting when he is at your place with Aimee on Sunday afternoon....

The best thing for Aimee is out on the Wednesdays and hopefully, that will turn into a few other days for her as well.....I would totally encourage that.

Since I am new here, where would I find part one? I don't want to offer an opinion without knowing anything.

I think if you search under. Amiee♥Kody

I agree with you - once she's out and makes new friends, she'll realize a "BF" that only spends a few hours with her once a week isn't enough. She doesn't need to settle for that.

I wish her the best and I hope she makes lots of new friends!

One tiny sliver of devil's advocate here: maybe he appears happier when he's leaving because being with Aimee cheers him up.

Other than that, no, let him go. She can do better, and they won't come to her door, she has to go out and find them. And you are wise to say that she just needs friends. She doesn't NEED a boyfriend. That will happen when it happens, if she doesn't force it.

Oh mama, it must be so hard to bite your tongue. You are doing the right thing by letting her see for herself and make her own decision. Keep planting those seeds though :-) If I lived closer I'm come kick Kodys ass myself for ya'll LOL!!!

Certainly, time to move on. Yes, it's hard. Especially since this young man has been good for Amiee for a very long time.

Yes to getting her out and developing a circle of friends. She is still young and a BF should not be an urgent priority in her life right now.

Oh no. Mama,Aimee already knows the truth about Kodys feelings. I think you are doing just the right thing by helping her socialize. Not only will she potentially meet some nice men,(which in my opinion,is a bonus in life but only if you find a good one, certainly not a necessity for happiess)she will undoubtedly meet some girls who will help boost her self esteem enough for her to end it with him. It sounds to me also as if he has a hoochie on the side, and if he would rather spend time with his friends and his MOTHER for pickles sake than her,it really can't end too soon.

(However,it is my opinion that his movie date is with the side piece, who likely doesnt have a clue about Aimee, which still doesn't make her any less of a side piece)

Better than nothing. Nothing could be farther from the truth. She is WAY better single than with someone who doesn't VALUE every second he has to spend with her. He sounds like a little twerp who is too weak to man up and tell her that he wants out. I will never understand that logic. Aimee sounds like a sensible young lady, who may have to step up and make the move to break it off. I think with your help and guidance, she will gain the strength to do so,and use her intelligence to recognize her own worth and accept nothing less than what she deserves in a partner.

Better yet,get her a dog. Nothing will show her what love is better than something that gives it unconditonally and consistently. (They're usually cuter and smell better than most men in the age group anyway ;-p)

I talked to my kids about when they realized that there was no future with someone, they needed to walk away, call it off. They need to have room in their lives to meet someone new, and if the word out there is that my kid is dating so and so, then the word around here would be that she is already involved with someone and not interested in anyone else. That makes meeting others difficult.

Amylou, I can wrong, but as I remember it, Kody is a decent young man and he and Amiee had a good relationship for quite a while. He broke it off, but then they reestablished their relationship recently.

These are two very young people. Why do they have to be exclusive? IMHO Kody doesn't want to hurt Amiee's feelings by breaking up with her again. He met someone else and would rather spend time with this other person. I think he is hoping that Amiee will get the hint and end it with him. And, really, this is what she should do.

I think that if Amiee just starts saying she is unavailable Sunday nights eventually Kody will just stop calling.

Sheila, Amiee is not involved in a social circle so I don't think what you are saying applies.

I too think Kody has someone else he is interested in. Didn't he do this before to Aimee, although they weren't technically a couple, but still in a very close relationship? From what I remember he started dating someone and it didn't work out, so he started seeing Aimee again and they became a couple. Both are still very young and it sounds like he's not ready for a serious relationship. I do recall you saying he is a very supportive and caring young man in helping Aimee through her medical issues. He's a good guy, just not ready to settle down, but needs to be honest with Aimee.

You are doing the right thing by listening, being non-judgemental and encouraging Aimee to go out and socialize. From all that you have said about Aimee, she will have no problem making friends. We all need a little push sometimes and you are doing it the right way.

You are a wonderful mom and grandma!!

Nothing much more to say, but Aimee probably already suspects the truth and she is looking for validation from you. Of course you can’t give her that. But whether someone is sick or healthy, heartbreak over a love lost is hard.

Not to take up for Kody, but he probably he is having a hard time knowing how to break up with Aimee. Yeah, he likely has another girl he’s interested in, hence the time he doesn’t spend with Aimee and the texts.

Good for you in trying to get her out to socialize with more kids her age. She shouldn’t give up on that at all. Good friends could be made and a whole new way of looking at the world.

Eld,he certainly sounded like a decent guy when he came crawling back. But the fact is he left her for another girl before, realized what he gave up, got her back quite easily, and seems to be wandering again. If he wants to play the field and see other girls, then he shouldn't have a girlfriend. There is nothing wrong with seeing different girls casually, unless you have asked one of those girls to be exclusive to you, which seems to be the case here.

I had a married coworker once who cheated on his wife a LOT. I asked him once why he even had a wife if he wanted to have a bunch of women. It seems easier just be be single and do that. He told me "stability". Apparently he wanted to have a stable home and a woman to go to when he didn't feel like engaging in a chase. He claimed to love his wife. I hope Aimee doesn't fall into that.

How much more did he come around before August? Do they spend time alone, or are you hanging around? Asking because my daughter's boyfriend seems a bit uncomfortable with my daughter when I am around (they have been together for 4 or 5 years and are living together, but since that's in New York I have just seen him on 3 occasions. A couple of days each) He isn't as nervous looking when my daughter is out of the room. Having friends and making new ones seems like a great idea for your daughter.

How old are these young people? If it is meant to be, they will work it out in time...in the mean time, maybe they need a break from each other.

always1step, I'd help you kick his a$$, the mama bear has claws!

Mamapinky0, you are right to hold back and let her figure it out with gentle guidance from you.

I know when my DD would come home and be so upset with a "boy", I would ask her right out, " Want me to go beat him up?" She would smile and say "No Mom'. then we would talk it thru, but I let come to her own conclusions.

I do think you need to have a talk with Amiee (perhaps when she's started making new friends) and let her know that settling for a poor relationship because it's "better than nothing" is an awful idea. Too many women have that mindset and go from one abusive relationship to the next. Please don't let Amiee think that's OK. Being happy with yourself is MUCH better than nothing, and a person who is happy with him/herself is also a lot more attractive to GOOD people.

I've been reading through the past posts about this. It may very well be that Kody has another girl and it's kind of carefree. I do think he genuinely cares about Aimee and if not in a romantic way still wants to be there (paying the phone and such) I still don't know what care is required, but maybe it is too much for him and he doesn't want to be a jerk. Aimee seems to be a smart girl, she will figure it out.

Mamap, back in the summer when Kody first came back, you had mentioned a church group and new friends for Amiee and also a job she would be starting shortly.....I may be mistaken, it may have been a course. How are the church group friends? It is good for her to have others her age to discuss things with.

As far as Kody goes, I think because he is working, he is meeting new people to do things with and socialize with. It may be that he has gotten into a routine as far as Amiee goes. I think this is something the two involved should work out on their own.

It doesn't matter if Kody has a new girl in his life. It matters if Aimee is feeling slighted by his attentionor lack there of. When Aimee asks for advice, turn it back on her. Ask her if this is enough, ask her to look on the situation objectively--if a girlfriend was in this situation, what would her advice be? Remind her how she felt the last time Kody took off. Only Aimee has the power to change their situation. ALso, I do agree about getting Aimee out and about with new friends. Good luck. You are a wonderful mother.

I really like your answer rather. It distills it to what the crux of it is, and a good way to talk it through, so that Aimee can handle it herself.

My memory isn't all THAT great, but from what I remember of the original post and this one combined, I'd guess that Kody does love Aimee, but perhaps not in the boyfriend-girlfriend way. If the relationship isn't giving him something in return, why else would he continue to visit and spend time with her? And yes, it's diminished time, which is why I think he's not feeling the boyfriend feelings. I wouldn't assume he doesn't care at all, I think just the opposite. He does care about her, and while living his own life he still comes to her to maintain that friendship.
