Do you wear Ugg boots?

I have a pair of ugg-like boots by aussie dogs which are very similar to uggs. They have sheepskin inside and you don't need to wear socks with them. I am thinking of upgrading to uggs, as my boots are now 3 years old and not very stylish. I walk every day and need warm,comfy boots. I love the slip on styling and want to avoid cumbersome tie boots. I am thinking the sundance style, which is kind of cute.

I have a pair. They are not new,I've owned em a couple of years. But they keep my feet warm, even last winter when we got two feet of snow.

My daughter bought me a pair last year...I love them. They are light blue and look great with denium...warm and cozy...but I must say Uggs are ugly...only my opinion.

UGG boots are perfect for winter..I think so.. They're very comfortable to wear and looks good when you pair it with mini skirts..But not because as I said it's best for the winter season, it can be worn too at any time. It depends on how you accessorize yourself. I prefer UGG boots too than Crocs. I don't like it. I don't like to see myself wearing crocs while everybody around is wearing it too. Always wear gear, regardless of the weather or the distance. I have both what my hubby calls a three-quarter helmet and a full-face helmet, several pairs of HD over the ankle boots, and some darn good leathers. On really hot days I'll wear jeans, boots, helmet (that goes without saying), gloves, and a leather vest. Admittedly I should wear a leather jacket when riding in hot weather but I don't always listen to my brain. I have never ever ridden in shorts and never will. If it's so hot that the heat takes your breath away when riding, then I don't ride. Been there, done that and it wasn't pleasant. Mike, in-town riding is the same as out-of-town riding, be protected at all times. I'm not sure if it was on this thread or another one on this forum but someone said that it's always best to dress for the dump and not the ride (or something like that). That is something that my husband has drilled into my head from the very first day I got on the back of a bike with him and now it's just second nature, moreso when I started riding my own bike. This is an example why and one that I hope never to repeat. Four years ago my husband rode his bike to work. Something happened to him at work and he was rushed to the hospital. Turns out everything was ok but he didn't want to leave his bike at his office. So we went to get it in my car. We live a couple towns over from where his office is and decided to come home thru the adjoining towns instead of the freeway. Because it was a warm day he decided not to wear his leather jacket (which he always wears, even in 100+ weather) and he tossed it into the car. He did put his chaps on, altho that did surprise me. Anyway, to make a long story longer, I was following him home in the car. As he was about to enter a large intersection on a green light a SUV came from the stopped direction going about 60+ MPH. This vehicle had gone around all the other stopped vehicles to run this red light. Several things helped keep him from being killed. One was his riding expertise (he's been riding since he was 6 and he's 57 now), his helmet, and the crash guards on his Harley and his chaps. The expertise came into play when he realized that if he hit the SUV broadside that he would die but if he laid the bike down there was a chance that he would miss hitting the vehicle. He was already down when the SUV went by him but he still could have reached out and touched the back panel. If he had swerved the bike instead of laying it down, it most likely would have been worse. His helmet saved his head and the crash guards saved his leg before he was able to get away from it and his chaps prevented road rash and possibly a broke leg or two. Believe me, it was the most horrifying thing to watch and think that your husband is going to be killed right in front of your eyes. To watch him rolling away from the bike and the bike skidding across the intersection was scary, especially since I at first thought that he had actually hit the SUV. Altho it was a rare thing for him not to wear a leather jacket that day, it did teach him never to be without it. His arms still show the scars but those are nothing compared to what could have happened. And the SUV? It never even slowed or stopped. Another driver who was in the right hand turn lane going in the same direction as we were chased the SUV and she came back and told the cops that it sped up and she lost it when it hit the nearby freeway entrance going about 100. Amazingly, two off duty paramedics were in a car waiting at the red light as was an off duty CHP officer waiting for the red going in the other direction. We had cops, CHP, and an ambulance there almost within minutes. I'm sorry this is so long, but I seemed to have almost relived this accident all over again as I was writing. Anyway, Mike, you never know when something might happen, altho we all hope that nothing ever does happen. You could be pulling out of your driveway or pulling into church. You don't know the if's or when's or even that something could happen. Always ride safe. Here's two more examples of something that can happen that is totally unexpected. A bunch of us were on a ride up to Reno, Nevada, via Lake Tahoe two years ago. In the middle of nowhere a basketball came whizzing across the road. Our friend dumped her bike cuz she thought it was a dog at first. Nothing hurt but her ego. All she could do was lay there on the side of the road, laughing, and saying something to the effect of "you mean a f**king basketball made me lay it down?" A couple months ago my sister and BIL were on a ride with their HOG group up in the mountains and the lead rider got nailed by a deer. He spent almost a month in the hospital and was told that if he hadn't of had his full leathers on and his full face helmet that it would have been alot worse, if he had survived at all. The deer was killed. Does stuff like this make me apprehensive and not want to ride? Oh h*ll no!!!! But I am more aware. Yep, I would consider muck boots as default wellies. Meindls are actually German - take a look at their website - they used to have a really interesting video about the making of them - more or less handmade still in the age of mass production. I love these boots - most especially since I have suffered from foot issues my whole life (born with club feet, many bones had to be broken and reset) - warm, tough, yet somehow deeply soothing when laced around my dodgy feet. Why do you need to take them on and off, David? I put mine on in the morning and take them off at bedtime. Doormats and even, in extremis, bootscrapers remove any need for indoor removals. Merrells are the choice of my eldest...but he is still firmly ensconced as a trainer wearer (I would bake my own boots out of old tyres before enduring those sweaty Nike/Adidas/New Balance monstrosities near my tender footsies) and Merrells still have a faint youth cachet and make rather good walking sandals (although tbh, walking and sandals are not concepts which really go together in my eyes). Ah, sadly Hunter have gone the way of the old Dr.Martens and are essentially a fashion accessory for festival wear - not made in the UK anymore either...but still notable for bringing out a half height version which Mr.Camps prefers.

I have yet to try it out. Like MTN, I feel my best look is tailored, so it may end up for my 5'8 daughter. I'm 5'5 , size 10, so not slim but this thing is very flattering. I'd wear it with slim- fit pants to a casual dinner .LOL westsider...before buying I did pause thinking just that! Oh, and at Nordstroms, I did see a robe thing in their Topshop dept. Similar to this in pale green, open, unbelted . Weird.

i'm working on my second pait of target wanna-bes...like them, but wish they had a better sole..my feet hurt from the "flatness"...i do wear socks though, in the extreme cold we've been having...

first came out and all the "stars" were wearing them,
I thought it was so FUNNY! lol Here you would see
all the California babes wearing them with summer
clothes in California. Looked rediculous! LOL

support in them, like there would be a good pair
of walking/running/training shoes?
I wouldn't wear them around here, unless I was done
skiing and wore them up in the snow.

I just bought a pair of Ugg style slippers and I love them so much that I'm thinking of buying a pair of Ugg boots. I hate having ties or zippers to deal with and I think they'll be very warm and comfortable since we seem to be getting quite a bit of snow this year. I really think they're sort of ugly but warmth and comfort is winning!

DD just got a pair of ugg type boots. She likes that they are boots that come up past the ankle, but they aren't stiff...something that would make her legs sore. I like that they don't have four inch heels. DD is only 11 but wears a size 9 shoe (and growing!). It's hard to find things in lady sizes that aren't too "grown up" for her. Of course, she would rather the high heels LOL.

I just wish that the outside didn't get so wet, although she claims it doesn't seep into the boot (even after they have sat for a bit).

I just read on MSNBC that they can damage feet. I didn't read the article, but I assume it's the "flatness" Susan mentions above that's the problem. They're said to be like wearing bedroom slippers all day.

I know if I wore slippers all day I'd never get any work done. Really!

I've been wearing Uggs for well over ten years now. Long before the "stars" got ahold of them. It was the shoe of choice in Santa Cruz County, at the beach and in the mountains. The surfers like them. In fact I got teased a little when I finally broke down and started wearing them. A girl I worked with said "Ahhh haaa she's one of US now!"
I almost stopped wearing mine after "Hollywood" got ahold of them.
I love them mine. They're not very pretty anymore but the sole is barely worn after all these years (and a LOT of wear) and you can replace the sheepskin on the bottom when it gets flattened. I think if I ever replace mine I'll go a half size smaller than what I normally wear. Mine have gotten a little floppy. That would probably change if I ever replace the fluff.

Can I tell you all a secret? (LOL) I cannot buy Ugg boots, or anything like them for the following reason. When I was in college, I dated a young man on and off for a year. One of the very shallow reasons I could not maintain a relationship with him, (this is very seinfeld of me, I recognize) was that he wore these ugly, ugly boots he got while serving a mission in New Zealand. I couldn't let go of the vision of him coming home from work every day for the next 60 years in these ugly boots. Flash forward to the year 2005, and every girl on the planet under the age of 30 is walking around in these SAME BOOTS.

I just can't do it.

I have a pair and love them too...but as far as fashion goes , I agree they are kinda ugg -ly. but warm. Now why can't they make them with a wedge heel that would be awesome... I hate the look of a flat shoe or boot? Make them wedge style come on !!!

If my feet weren't the size of john boats (sz 10 to 11) I might wear them. I think they look big even on petite people and I'm not petite! lol

I have a pair that are a light blue color and I LOVE them, when I am going to be traveling in a car for a trip I prefer to wear them, my feet are very comfy and cozy and never hurt. I have very bad feet and can no longer walk much but I don't have any problem with them on my feet they seem more stable and give me a little ankle support. I rarely wear them out shopping, mainly at home and in the car when traveling. I do not think they are ugly I like the look of them. I really love the new ones that Jimmy Choo is doing with Uggs. So cute but way out of my price range.

I love mine, won't tell how many I have, lol, I had several broken toes last year, they were the only thing I could wear. I have one pair of the Jimmy Choo Uggs, love them. I saw on "The Doctors" the other day that the maker of Fitflops has come out with an Ugg style boot, with the support that Uggs are lacking.

The only uggs I've ever worn belonged to a 14 Iditarod racer Vern Halter and were probably not the Ugg brand but something far more serious. While they kept my feet toasty warm during an 8 miles dog sled ride, I sure wouldn't want to wear them every day, even the more fashion conscience (if there is such a thing LOL) versions. And that's a statement from an actual Eskimo (me). Now I feel like I've just betrayed my people. :-)

I can't stand being in a store when 'kids' (young and old) walk around in them and Can't/Won't--pick--up--their--feet!!! Drives me crazy!

So...no, I don't have them, and have bought a pair of knock off slippers...but I don't wear them out of the house and I DO pick up my feet...when I wear them. LOL

I tried on a pair last week at the store and they were sooooo comfortable! I was tempted to buy them, but I was looking for something good to wear in snow and wasn't sure if they'd keep my feet dry.

I have a 'nice' pair or Uggs. I think they are Dakota or Sedona or something along those lines and I love them. My 15 yr. old dd has some regular black ones and she also loves them. She doesn't wear socks with them and they haven't hurt her feet in any way. Her feet are wide and flat, too, so... no problem, BUT, she doesn't wear them everyday. Here in NC, she wears them in the Fall and Winter.

I have Fuggs ("fake" Uggs LOL) made by Sporto, which aren't as sloppy looking as Uggs. They're actually quite slim and feminine looking and are constructed from the same materials as Uggs - the bonus is that they have great arch support. I was told by a foot doctor that Uggs are some of the worst footwear anyone can wear. There's absolutely no support, which is so important especially in the cold weather where being able to have your feet supported is key.

The reason people can't/won't pick up their feet in Uggs is because of the way the boot is constructed. No arch support means your arch is laying flat at the bottom of the boot. This prevents your foot from moving correctly. Essentially people are paying a lot of $$$ for something that can be very detrimental to your overall physical well-being.

I have chocolate brown Uggs I have had a few years usually just wear aaround the house during winter ~~maybe out and about a bit.

What I have by Uggs that I really like and wear several times a week to yoga are a pair of black slippers, they are the ones with the very heavy out door sole but are really a slipper. When I had heel surgery I bought them, I wore them with everything and everywhere, they really supported my foot and I felt very nice in them.I get compliments on them almost everytime I wear them. Most people do not wear them out in public like I do;) I am a trend setter ;)

When I see those females wearing these fur lined boots in California with shorts ect, all I can think of is not only do they look ridiculous, but can you imagine the smell when they take them off?

YES!!! I love my Uggs and wear them almost daily in the winter. I have them in 4 colors. I actually just replaced 2 of mine because they were so worn out. They are so comfy.

If you get a pair, know they run big. They don't come in half sizes. I wear a size 7 shoe and my Uggs are size 6 and they fit perfectly, even with all the fur.

I don't think they are ugly, maybe they've just grown on me. Plus I also own a pair of Birkenstocks, supposedly the ugliest shoe on earth!

I'd like to get a pair, but I worry about the arch support. They look so flat and stiff. I am just now getting over Plantar Fascitis (sp?) and I would not EVER want that again, so I try to always wear good solid shoes!

Nope...Today I saw a pair of UGGS that put the UGLY over the top..silver sequin...they were on a 9 year old girl.
I just looked online..$170...her mother spoils her!!!

Can I give you a hint? My DD wears an 8. She tried on a kid's size 6 and they fit. About $45 cheaper than the adult sizes.

I found some EMU's at 6PM.com for half price so I ordered two pairs for around 100.00 with free shipping. Guess I'm still too cheap to invest in UGGs, we'll see what the EMUs are like.

OHHH 'iamjustme'~~that is a good hint I & DD wear size 7's and buy size 6 Uggs DGD wears a 6 and forsure could wear a childs size~~I am going to check that out. My 2 year old GD has had 2 pairs of us wears a pair now on cold days to pre-school so cute~~hers have the button on the side only boots DD could find to get on her fat feet.

For you all who bash Cali for wearing them with shorts I just did a Wikipedia check on the history of Uggs~~they were brought over here in the late 70's by the surfers to warm there feet after surfing. Very popular to wear at HS swim meets with swim parkas to wear after each swim event. They are also considered a 'unisex' item. Sad that Hollywood as always takes something from our everyday life and makes it a big fashion statement as well as a joke:(
