What is that noise??
Comments (49)For a few months now, we've been hearing a harsh screech at night, but it's not a screech owl-we finally saw it and heard it at dusk-it was a woodpecker-we were very surprised, but relieved to finally know what it was-one night, we heard a number of them calling-some softer than others and assumed it was the babies....See Morewhat's making that noise at night?
Comments (13)We have a lone cricket also (west Vancouver, just across from Portland). I love falling asleep to the sound; it's one I've heard all my life and I love it. I don't see anywhere near the numbers of crickets here that I had in the Midwest (hundreds, if not more, every night), but I at least partly attribute that to the fact that I was out in the country and now I'm in an urban area. It may be that they just aren't as prolific here, too. Whatever your critter, hope you're enjoying! :)...See MoreWhat is that noise my Heat pump makes
Comments (4)andre classic sounds of the defrost cycle. what outside temp was it? I don't know the method of defrost cycle for a Trane HP of that vintage. Whether it is operating correctly remains to be seen. When was your system last serviced? In the defrost mode, the HP reverses, goes into AC mode and removes hot air from your home to defrost your outside condenser. To temper the cool AC enterting your home, your heat strips are activated so you will not have cool air from your supply registers. The defrost cycle is a necessary evil with HPs. Cycle normally takes a few minutes and then reverts back to normal HP heating mode. TD...See MoreWhat's causing ringing noise? Spurting water?
