We're just going to stay home. I have to work on Monday, so it's going to be hard to make it to midnight. New Years Day we may go shopping.

I also remember when people stayed home on New Years Day. I also remember when stores were closed on Sundays due to the blue laws (am I dating myself? LOL).

we use to go to watch night services, now we stay home and go to bed early and Know What?The New Year comes just the same as always.

I am actually going to a big party at a winery in Temecula this year. My other option was to stay at home because I didn't want to be out driving on NYE. The party planners have arranged a shuttle to go from the hotel to the party. I am really excited. I just hope I am over this darn cold by then. I am ready for bed at 7 every night.

May get together w/ some friends New Year's Eve. For sure going to Midlothian, Tx New Year's Day to get the 3 y o brother of our twins and bring him to Tyler for a few days. His Daddy is going to the Texas coast hunting, so this will help his Mom out (and that's what I like to do). He'll have a ball here, he always does! Plan to eat some black eyed peas for good luck.

We're going with some friends to a local casino. They have a great restaurant and it's been a tradition we started a few ago with them. It's always fun and lively at the casino.

For years I've attend First Night in Monterey. DH used to go with me but no longer cares to ( early to bed) so now I go with my girlfriend.

First Nights are held all over the country. Alcohol free and lots of performance artists. You buy a button that lets you in to all the different venues.

Our favorite bar is having a New Years Eve party with a buffet,music and dancing, and breakfast afterwards. It's on our way home so I told them we'd be crashing the party for breakfast. ;-)

I don't like to go out NYE, or even stay up that late. I will watch the Rose Parade on TV on Jan. 1.

I used to LOVE going to a big party on New Years Eve. For some reason it was one night I loved to be surrounded by lots of people. But now that we have DD and one on the way, I guess we'll just be staying home for a while. Besides, as much as I like NYE, I HATE the thought of driving anywhere-scared of the DRUNKS!!

A New Year's Day Brunch would be nice though!

My kids want to come over for finger foods...games, cards, and and all night movie fest.

I said it's okay with me....but they'll have to listen to me snoring while they are watching movies...I'd never make it over night...Besides I like to get up with the daylight.

But I would love to have them all camp out here overnight. I think that would be fun. Then get up to eat breakfast together.

We have our usual NYE get together, that we've done for 20 years! I'm going to bump up my previous post regarding, my request for ideas for a gift bag to give everyone. (14 people)
New Year's Day, we clean up the kitchen, then watch parades, and if one of our teams is playing..... football.

For the past 8 or so years I've went to friends homes or had a small party at mine. This year I thought DD was having a party here (which means we'd stay home to supervise), but she changed her mind and is going out. The only invite we've got so far is to go to a friend's who will be babysitting her 9 month old grandson, she works that day too so she'll fall asleep early. I really don't want to stay home because DH won't be able to stay up till midnight and I will find it very depressing to be alone at the ringing in of the new year.

We're staying home again. We did that for the first time two years ago and enjoyed it so much. At parties, even though the TV was on, we were too busy visiting to watch the new year come in different countries. That is so cool! We saw our friends often, so it wasn't like a once a year gathering.

So we started our own tradition. We have crab legs with lots of butter, shrimp with cocktail sauce and I make snacks for later. We don't like champagne so we have a nice bottle of Bailey's Irish cream. Yummy--tastes like dessert.

We'll be home. I used to love going out but now I don't seem to enjoy it. I'd rather stay home, get comfortable, watch a good movie and eat some yummy snacks. Sometimes we have a couple of friends in and play a board game. Whatever we do, it will be at home and very casual.

We quit going out years ago when we started having kids. I can't tell you the last time we went out on New Years eve. I feel safer at home anyway. This year we are keeping Austin over night so DS and DIL can go out. It should be fun to have him all alone. Ricky and Seth get to stay all the time....3 is too much for me to have overnight! DS#1 quit going out on NYE when Ricky was born. They too don't party much any more. Never thought I'd see the day when he quit partying! LOL....glad to see it though, I wish my other 2 would stay home too! I always watch the parade the next day too. DH said tonight he'd like to go see the floats after the parade, but he can't take the day after off of work, so guess we won't do that. We did it one year and it was awesome to see them up close...and smelled wonderful!

NaughtyKitty -- which winery? We're wine club members at South Coast Winery and also at Ponte. I know both are having big parties for NYE... well, all the wineries probably are!

We'll do the usual -- dinner and a movie with some good friends of ours, then over to the river to watch the fireworks.

No plans for us.. same as every year.. early to bed and sleep through the ball drop. Maybe we will get a movie.. or chinese food.... nothing special at this point.

Pu-leez. It's on a Monday night and guess who has to work on Wednesday. I'll be home, watching the ball drop (or, perhaps, if I don't make it, it will be watching me!).

I used to go to my church's watch night service, but this year they're celebrating with gospel mega-stars and hosting the service in a large religious hall, and charging for tickets ($29.99 per ticket).

I work New Year's Eve and day, double time pay. Yeah!! In fact, I went through about half the year's schedule for 2008 and signed up to work every holiday and will finish once my last week of leave is approved.

New Year's eve we are having a little "party" at work, basically eating chili and finger foods.

I've never gone out for New Year's Eve, ever. When I was growing up we always had whole crab on New Year's day and stayed up till midnight the night before watching Dick Clark. Is he even doing it his show this year?

DH and I will be driving separately to his friend's house (his boss, in some respect). I cannot stay up any later than 11 pm!! I'm scared of driving home with all the drunks on the road, and I'll make sure I get a nap in during the day on Monday. This baby sure makes me tired. :)

I think we will stay at home New Year's Eve. We've been invited to Jammer's brother's house for BBQ on New Year's Day. He lives about 2 miles from DS #1, so we will probably go see them too.

I'm tired too!

We'll be meeting friends for dinner New Year's ever. We've also been invited to some other friend's house New Year's day for snacks and cocktails. McCloud isn't feeling his best and he may cancel. That will be alright too. I'm easy these days. LOL

On the first day of each month, my DH always has to leave for work about 2:00 in the morning. For us, NYE is "just another night before the 1st." I did invite a few GFs to come for the night (they both live out of town), but I'm thinking they won't make it.

We used to go out for an early dinner and the DDs would have their friends over for a sleepover. Now, it's usually still out for an early dinner. I may fall asleep early but DH will wake me up for midnight and the banging of the pots and pans.

Just staying home New Year's Eve while DH will be playing with his band (he plays sax) at a large catering hall party.

Both of us just stay home on New Year's Day.
