Not accupuncture, but I did try an aspect of holistic medicine, meditation. It really helps. You sit in a chair, relax and visualize yourself floating,it actually decreases your heart rate and blood pressure. I was taught this by a psychologist. It's called Biofeedback. It really works. I have almost no pain. I have lupus and arthritis.

At my last job, tons of my co-workers all went to the same accupuncturist for various reasons. I was always hearing how amazing it was, for pain and all sorts of other things. It was covered by our insurance, so there was only a co-pay. Most insurance companies now will cover more holistic/natural approaches to healing, so I would call and find out if I were you.

Years ago I had some severe neck pain and didn't want to be on narcotics....so I had accupuncture. It was done by a doc who practiced in a large group practice where I worked so it was free. I went in thinking it would not work but, amazingly, it did with just one treatment.
I didn't have any problems for years.
(And now that I am trying Glenda's gin and golden raisin cure, neck pain is no longer a problem.)

Yes, some years ago I tried it and it really helped with back and neck pain. I don't remember what the charge was. No, she didn't insist I change my diet or require me to take herbs.

Years ago, my Mother, bless her soul, had a very painful hip problem and walked with a cane...After a few acupuncture treatments she walked pain and cane free...She also had HB and he regulated that too....At the time, her's was paid by insurance...If needed, I'd be there in a minute....

I've been getting acupunture for about 10 years. A person can go to a acupunture school and be trained in acupunture and herbs only. I go to a Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor. He is a doctor in China as well as a Internal Medicine M.D. in the states. He is trained in herbs, diet and nutrition. When I see him we discuss my whole body both mental and physical.
The acupunture did not help my chronic back pain. It somewhat helps TMJ, headaches, and neck pain. Everyone has a different result from acupunture. You usually need several treatments ans it should be covered by insurance. Try and get a recommendation from a friend for a good doctor.

i have not had accupuncture, i'm actually looking to start soon for endometriosis but i do take my dogs :-) one, tracey, has gone for 6 yrs for severe hip displasia (deformed hip joints) and is like a puppy after each treatment. the other, sandy, has only been a few times for arthritus in her wrists, she's a psycho terrrier and she gets great results thou they don't last as long as my other dog. i took tracey when it was decided she'd only improve w/ hip replacement and i have been reluctant to go to surgery. she will not be needing surgery, we can manage her pain w/ accupuncture and supplements! ~ liz

They're doing acupuncture on my husband for a back injury. They put the needles in his feet. I just asked him if it's helping him at all. It's being done 3x a week at physio. He says it makes his feet hurt so it takes his mind off his sore back, so he guesses it's working. LOL But in all honesty, he's walking like an old man limping in pain. He's had the acupuncture now about 5 or 6 times (3x a week) and his doctor is scheduling an MRI for him.

I just heard they are doing acupuncture on Oprah today. In looking it up on a search, it appears it might be a rerun from Feb 2007. You may want to check it out.

Acupuncture cured Ma's frozen shoulder and my aunt's sciatica. Papa's an MD in Acupuncture, and I preferred the needles to painkillers when my headaches got too bad LOL No change in diet, no herbs.

Dad says it takes multiple sittings to be able to notice a difference, but some of his clients reported improvement after the first sitting itself. He stressed the importance of continuing the treatment even if you feel good after the first sitting or a few sittings. Ma's shoulder felt better after the first 3 sittings so she stopped ... and a couple of weeks later took fifteen more sittings.

At an acupuncture clinic, I saw low-frequency current being applied to the needles for gentle stimulation (but nobody was screaming in pain LOL). But that I'd never be able to take, LOL.

I've heard of acupuncture being used during childbirth for pain-free delivery - no idea if it works.

Dr. Oz is on Oprah right now recommending acupuncture for pain relief. Of course he says to have a full medical check up first.

DH used to go to go for accupressure treatments. No needles just manipulation of the pressure points. It's been 25 years since he last had a treatment. He was taught to manipulate the points just above his ankles if he does have pain. No diet change and no herbs.
