Has Anyone Tried Poseidon?
Comments (53)I know this post was written years ago, but I just saw this and had to chime in. I am not an expert gardener and just started growing roses a few years ago. I live in zone 7a (on Long Island). Long Island is known for brutally cold winters with blizzard conditions and disgusting, hot, humid, and rainy summers. I love the color purple, especially lavender and 2 summers ago It seemed Poseidon was sold out everywhere. I went crazy looking for this rose. I finally found it being sold as a bare root online at he White Flower Farm online. I bought it and it was expensive, but I wasn't sorry! It is my most prolific grower and has now ballooned up to at least 7+ foot tall by about 5 1/2 feet across and handles my frigid cold winters like a champ. It blooms prolifically and there seems to never be a time when it is not in bloom. The only thing I hate about it is the blooms don't last long, when it gets really hot some of the blooms fry and if it rains a lot the blooms get a little yucky and ball up a little. However, it is constantly putting out more blooms so that makes up for it. The color is exquisite and I adore it!! It is the only rose bush in my garden that out of 25+ roses, likes my climate and keeps growing until the end of October....See MoreHas anyone tried growing Apothecary's rose in FL panhandle?
Comments (15)For a substitute for the 'Apothecary Rose', try the 'Portland Rose' (alias 'Portlandica'; but please don't call it 'Duchess of Portland'! No one called it that until the 20th Century). Here in coastal Southern California, it doesn't re-bloom (at least, it doesn't for me), but it does bloom dependably once a year with its big blossoms of a happy bright cerise. The leaves color nicely in the Fall. It's a modest and charming rose which somehow just has a more likeable personality than many of the more ambitious roses....See MoreHas anyone tried any new teas lately?
Comments (11)Well, the "Lady Grey" tins had no expiration dates that I could read properly but I bought one. The "Prince of Wales" I bought is best used by 2012. I made a comment to the owner about expiration dates again, but he said "They just don't put them on do they?" Then he tried to convince me that the dates were only "shelf dates" and should not be sold after that. Well, I told him as he rang up a box of "Yorkshire Gold" tea bags that I gave a gift of this YG (purchased at his shop) to a friend one time and found out later it was nearly 2yrs. old! He said he doesn't understand the difference in taste really - oh brother. I answered it "Tastes like straw when old!" ha. he just smiled. Anyway, my box of YG is good until November of 2010 - 40bags to a box - how will I ever drink all of those before November? If anyone wants to sample Yorkshire Gold send me your address and I'll slip several or more bags into an envelope! And I also bought a small box of 20 Lapsang Souchong tea bags to try again. It has such an exotic smokey flavor that I didn't want to buy an entire tin. The shop owner also told me that Twinings is no longer going to offer the small packs of 6 bags. Have to buy boxes of 20bgs. in the future....See MoreHas anyone tried CBD oil for pain ?
Comments (76)Hubby and I both tried the oils CBD and THC and it didn't work for us. We wanted it for anxiety mostly and to help us sleep. He didn't have much pain, from his cancer so that wasn't an issue. I didn't like the taste of it......tastes strongly of a pine tree. I'd put a few drops in a drink, hubby put a few drops under his tongue----the preferred method. My brother has pain in his knees and I gave the rest of the oil to him. Didn't help him either. One time I took a few drops, when I hadn't taken it for a while. You're supposed to go into it gradually.....start with 2 drops and work your way up over a period of time. I put my usual 5 drops in my drink and I was bouncing off the walls going to bed, the room was spinning, I thought I was having a heart attack or stroke or something. I laid in bed and the room was spinning there too. Wow, if that's a good time, people that take this stuff can have it. I hated it, and was terrified. I hate not having control of my body and mind....See MoreJasdip
