That's so funny you mention this. I just made a Beef and Guiness stew tonight - something I've never made before.

I love beer and have cooked with it. Love beer battered anything LOL My pizza dough calls for beer but I use water now.

Beer is known to cause flare ups of gout and the last time I had beer I was in agony the next day so no more beer for me.

I thought this was going to be an explanation for the slightly sluggish time you posted over on the KT Trivia quiz a couple days ago. ;-)

I knew a woman over 100 years old. She said her secret for long life was a glass of Guinness every day. Apparently she stopped drinking it at age 103! OOh, I love beer batter fried fish.

DGD and her dad were coming up north and she asked if I would make beer soup, and I, of course, agreed. (I never had made it before!) Anyway, I used an allrecipes.com recipe and it was very good. A friend does the boneless ham with beer poured over before roasting, and it is wonderful.

I have posted about the Beef & sausage stew I make and it calls for a can of beer. A year ago, I went to one of the local liquor stores and asked if I could buy just one can of beer, byt the man said I had to buy a 6 pack, which I did, this is the only recipe I use beer in, so I still have 3 cans of beer under the counter. I did try putting on some ribs on put in the slo-cooker and they were quite good. The only time I ever drank beer was when I was still golfing and after golfing 18 holes and it was hot out, a glass of cold beer really hit the spot.

I like beer by itself :-), but also use it to make beer bread and in chili and a French Dip sandwich recipe.

Hmm, I picked up a selection of small brewery beers for hubby a couple weeks ago and one of them was too bitter to drink, he says. I re-capped it and it's languishing in the fridge, I wonder if I could use it for cooking or if it's too bitter for that as well.
