Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, Paula. I'm surprised the hospital sent everyone home, too. Is she conscious? I guess one could pray for the best outcome for her, whatever that might be.

I looked back, but didn't see your original post on what is wrong.
Whatever it is, your family is going thru hell right now.
Of course my thoughts are with you.

Paula, this is so sad. Praying for the best outcome - what your mother would want - seems good.

My mom would have hated the way she went, after 15 months in a nursing home. Because it was a nursing home, though, I was able to stay with her in those last few days.

ICUs are different, they often have very strict rules about who can visit and when. Perhaps you could pray for God's will be be done.

Sadly, I know what you are going through. I lost my mother last year. Maybe the hospital thought it would be easier for you and her, if you were not there. The hospice people told us that patients frequently wait until their loved ones leave the room before they take their final breath.

I will remember you and your mother in my prayers, and pray that her passing is peaceful. Hugs!

So sorry to hear this, Paula. I've often heard that loved ones will cling to life until you give them permission to let go and they don't want to let go while you are with them. Doctors and nurses are aware of this. Perhaps this is why they sent you home. Comforting prayers coming your way for you, your mom and your family.

I'm very sorry for you. I think you should go back. The hospital sent me home to eat while they took my mother down for yet more tests. She died while I was gone. I hope the best outcome occurs. It's tough.

When my husband was dying, they called us so we could be with him We are so grateful. We were able to hold his hand as we told him to go into the garden, then he was able to go peacefully

Paula you and your family are in my prayers. And your Mother, as it's been said, if God feels it's time for her to return to him I pray she doesn't not have to be in this state too long. If you want to be with her now, then return to the hospital. Be with her. Let her know it's all okay. It is never easy for those of us behind but at some point we all return to our family above.

She is still holding on. They told us last night that she probably wouldn't last the night and we all spent the night thinking this was it. However the cancer doctor had ordered steroids which have bought her some time. It's not a cure but she just isn't strong enough for the cancer treatment. They may try some oral chemo if she rebounds again but that's about all they can do. It's all about buying time now.

May it develop according to what is best for your Mom, Paula.

It is so hard to lose someone who has been a mainstay in our lives, but it happens to most of us.

May your Mom avoid pain and discomfort, and may you and her loved ones feel the peace in your hearts that a willing release can provide, if it is now appropriate for her to go.
