my mom is in the ICU please pray

for my mom she has to have 2 ft of colon resected. Shes the nicest person i've ever know and my best friend. Please pray for her. I love love love her please send your best energy. Please. I need your positive energy. Shes my touchstone everyday please love her up. Shes having surgery Tuesday. I can't be without her. Hope for us please

I'm sending prayers for a successful surgery and easy recovery for your Mom .... and peace of mind for you Sands.

Be strong of course, but don't be afraid to tell your Mom how much you love her and need her still!

As one who went through this exact same surgery just two years ago, I know what it's all about. She will come through it just fine, I am sure of it. The worst is the liquid diet for an entire week afterward!

Chin up, girlfirend, and dry those tears. She'll be partying in Bermuda with you before you know it!

Merci, Pug, Mike thanks so much. You all made me smile today. Merci, I've been doing quite a bit of praying lately, I'll add one more prayer and hopefully HE will hear. BTW, Belated Happy Birthday. When was the special day? It was very nice of your mom giving you such a beautiful plant. It's healthy, lush, and very green. Does your mom enjoy plants too? You mentioned a problem adding vinager? What happened? It's too bad you can't summer your new Gardenia outside. Those nasty mites are terrors. I thank God my plants have been bug free, well, all except one. A succulent called Tiger's Jaw. I spotted white gook a couple months back, cleaned w/rubbing alcohol, but those little sh*t's won..Mealy are the worse. Mersi, what have you used to rid mites? Do you use chemicals? My plants are showered, but never left in tub/sink filled with water for days..I do soak African Violets and a few other tropicals like Anthuriums, but after the top of soil is wet, plants are then air dried then placed in their spot. I've also learned, the hard way, soaking shouldn't be done at night, especially if chilly/cold. My new Gardenias, for the most part, died. I'm not saying I'm not to blame, (in part it's my fault) but when they arrived, after thorough inspection, leaves weren't in the best of health. Most had light brown, soft spots. Is anyone familiar with these spots? Could it be a fungus? If anyone here grows roses, and have dwelt with, think it's called brown or black spot, the gardenia leaves looked simiar to rose spots. Merci, I looked at the photo of your new gardenia, and she/he? looks very very healthy. You are so funny though..Don't fear your plant..I honestly think, like pets, plants sense our feelings. Did you ever hear stories about dogs who smell fear in someone, and even though the dog is gentle, will actually harass that person? This happened to my little sister at a picnic one time. Or ever see the Andy Griffith episode where Aunt Bea takes care of a baby. Everytime she lifts the child, the little girl screams. At the end, Opie fed the baby blueberry pie. Aunt Bea comes home and thinks the baby's face turned blue, isn't breathing. She swoops the child in her arms, calling for Andy to notify the town doctor. But this time, the baby doesn;t cry. The reason was because she sensed Aunt Bea was no longer afraid of her but for her. End of story. I'm sure everyone reading this is happy hearing about Aunt Bea. lol. But I really believe plants sense our moods. We show them who's boss, they'll respond with a 'beauty pageant.' Flowers and healthy leaves. As for sun, my tree gardenia lives out front facing mostly west, some south and north. It gets a lot of afternoon sun, 'when we have sun, surely not this year.' I set it out some time in April. Some nights were in the 30's, and a few 80F days. Thank the stars it's doing fine..no flowers, but I think the reason is, too much rain, no time to dry out, no fertilizer or Superthrive, but the foliage is find. It gave me a big scare when still inside. That's the reason it went outside. Anyway, HAPPY BIRTDAY.. Pug, I hope you're well too..and the pups. With spring, I bet your plants are beautiful. lots of flowers? How are your fruit trees doing? And Coffee tree. Citrus. etc, etc. Mike, it's always great hearing from you. How are your plants doing? Any new additions? If so, please post. And how are you coming along? I hope everyone is well, it's great talking to you guys again. I missed you all. But things happen, life isn't always a bowl of cherries, unfortunately. My husband had surgery last week, the same time I came down with stomach flu, not to mention my puter kicked the bucket. All in one week! Oh Butterfly, before I forget, how in the world did your plant fly out of a car window, on the highway????? That's so sad. And dangerous, too. Holly, I read your post early this morning and have been to a meeting and on a few errands since then. Throughout, my thoughts keep going back to your friend and her family. I'm so, so sorry for all of them, and for you and the rest of their friends and family. They definitely won't give her ice chips Cynic, in case one goes down the wrong way and gets stuck in her lung. Then it's back to square one. OJ, I've never posted her name, but what the heck..... Gotta tell you this story about my ex-hubs. He had a sense of humour as well. At the time, my cat of 14 yrs died. Mom wanted to give us something in memory of her. She was going to give us money to plant a tree, but we didn't have room for another one. I didn't think I'd get another cat, after losing Peanut, but it was lonely without one. We saw one in the paper, and mom gave us the $50 for it, if we liked him. One the way home, with the cat and his belongings, we didn't like his name, and wanted to re-name him. DH said "Let's call him after your Mom." I said You want to call the cat NORMA??!. He said.....Noooo, Biddy; after "The Old Biddy." LOLOL Mom thought that was hilarious, and Biddy was Biddy till he died this year.

She is still holding on. They told us last night that she probably wouldn't last the night and we all spent the night thinking this was it. However the cancer doctor had ordered steroids which have bought her some time. It's not a cure but she just isn't strong enough for the cancer treatment. They may try some oral chemo if she rebounds again but that's about all they can do. It's all about buying time now.

she just got wheeled over to anesth. recovery about 9 minutes ago, 5 1/2 hrs of surgery, but it's looking good so says the dr. You guys are so great, thank you, my Mom went in with such postivity I was in awe, she was ready, vital signs up to normal range, love of her family and friends in her pocket - you could tell.

I can't wait to see her tomorrow!!!

PS Before she went into surgery we were already plotting and planning a big thank you basket of Bath and Body Works goodies for the nurses, that's the kind of person she is, I can only hope to catch 'amazing' cooties just by standing near her.

I told Mom about you guys tonite when I visited and she was so amazed that strangers would hope and pray for her and I told her "they're not strangers they're my friends and they know you I've mentioned you and Gram and they know how special you are" and she got all choked up and asked me to please thank you all because [Like I said!!] she felt very empowered and strong and ready going into surgery and she said she could only attribute that to her friends and family, she felt enveloped.

On a lighter note, I couldn't bring flowers to the ICU its a nono - so my Mom mentioned continuing the health trend from this setback by making smoothies [ok the dietician and orderly got her revved because they know she'll be limited for a while after surgery] so I bought her a smoothie machine with a big ole purple bow :) She *loved* it!!

They may move her out of ICU and into the regular wing as early as this weekend pending things go well. How cool is that? Yay MOM!

I'm so happy your mom did great! I started to type a message a few days ago and got choked up thinking about my own mom and her many stays in ICU I couldn't finish. I know the great love we have for our moms. There is a special bond that will never waver or be severed. I am so pleased your mom is on the upswing, and although I didn't get my original message sent she certainly was in my thoughts and prayers.
