Please Keep My Grandson in Your Thoughts & Prayers

Hearing that my Grandson was injured playing football was NOT something I wanted to hear..anytime, but especially the first thing in the morning. Phone woke me up and it was Christy. CJ, my 2nd Grandson was injured last night. My mind was still foggy so I'm not exactly sure how it happened..but he got what they say is a "spinal sting". He couldn't feel his arms or hands. Took him to ER via Ambulance (Atlanta Medical) where they admitted him. They'll keep him for a couple of days, and have told Christy he will recover...but he can't play football again. This kid has always lived & breathed FOOTBALL (started in PEE WEE). This is his Senior year...and it's breaking his heart..which has created a chain reaction down to this Gramma!!

On the "UP" side, he can say he played and his team WON at "The Dome"!!

How scary! Never heard of a 'spinal sting' before, good to know he will be okay though. Was he planning on going to college and playing football there?

Thanks All! By this morning, I was feeling much better after receiving your sympathic shoulders & comments! Yep, they got rules about curtains (must be showing only white to the outside), and Yep, I do live in the Country - about 1 hr past the 'burbs - takes 45 min to get anywhere - but when we moved here 9 yrs ago from 40th St & 2nd Ave Manhattan, w/2 very very busy self-employeds (I worked 70 hrs/wk then), we figured new construction townhouse would be better than an older home w/roof & furnace probs - of course, the new constrx (& affordable px) came w/a HOA. WOW........ I have to say....this post alone just shows me so much!!..On TOP of all the prayers that went up for my family during a severe crisis....... WHAT GREAT PEOPLE YOU ALL ARE......HOW BLESSED WE ARE... I am so .... I've never heard of such a thing. I hope that everything works out for you dear hubby. My hubby is blind in one eye, I'm sure it is not always easy, but he does great. I will keep your DH in my prayers that the procedures work.

Oh the poor guy!! Not being able to play will hurt more than anything else, in his mind.
I was just thinking of you yesterday wondering where you've been CB. My thoughts are with you and your dear grandson.

So glad to hear that he will be okay. I know that this is a great disappointment for him but it could have been so much worse.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I am glad that he is going to be okay.
But I know how it hurts our hearts when our kids have
their dreams destroyed. Maybe he will learn to love
to coach and will be able to keep football in his life!

Very glad it wasn't worse and that he will recover.

Also very sad that he was injured and can't play football any more.

Teenagers don't always have perspective to understand that this kind of setback is not the end of the world, but I feel sure he will get good support during this time.

You know, he just might be able to play again. My son suffered a stinger, was out for only two games. His orthopedic dr evaluated, examined and gave the go ahead. Son went on to play four years of college ball and has been coaching hs football for the last 12 years.

Don't give up just yet. It hard not to worry yourself sick, but boys are remarkably resilient.

I hope Sherrmann is right since it means so much to him, but for now I'll just pray for you to have a healthy grandson.

I'm so sorry he was injured, but...not every HS player will play in college anyway. (Not sure that is a 'bright side', but that's how I intended it.) Very glad he won't have lifelong disability.

Our next door neighbor has been an outstandng QB up to now, his senior year in HS. He's announced that he will attend Michigan, hoping to play football there like his dad. He was injured in a game and last week he had surgery on his right ACL -- will be having PT for months and months. His mom says he will be able to be a walk-on by next fall, but...who knows?

Having a 'goal' in youth can be both a blessing and a curse! Set-backs feel so 'end of the world' when you're so young. (Kinda hard on a kid whose father named him Bo in homage.)

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandson's injury and so glad that he will recover. My latest grandson was born day before yesterday, and I can't imagine how awful it would be to hear that any of them were badly injured.
