Keep my nephew in your prayers once again please...

Once again the have found cancer in my nephew Alan. Things have been so up and down for them for the last few months when they found the tumor on his brain. Then they said it wasn't a tumor, then it was...just been crazy! I wish these doctors could get it straight, it's so cruel to put someone through what they've been through. One doctor says to go home and wait to die..nothing can be done. The next doctor says there is alot of hope. Then this doctor runs some tests and finds cancer in his lungs and doesn't get back to them with anything for almost 2 weeks! He was scheduled to have surgery a few weeks ago to remove the spots on the lungs but the doctor cancelled it and said they found more in his leg! Really poor communication! Now today they are going to meet with the doctor to see what plan, if any they are going with. This doctor is the same one that saved his leg 3 years ago when he had a rare type of cancer and almost lost his leg. He said he may still lose it....they will know nothing until they talk to him today. I'm going to call my sister in a bit to see if she's heard anything. This is so hard on her. It's her first grandson and they are very close. I can see it's taking it's toll on her too. She looks drained and tired. This roller coaster has been hard on everyone. I hope they find an answer today. Alan is only 25, he has lot's of living to do God willing! Please think of him when you say your prayers....

With fried chicken, I like a bit of acid to cut the fat, so this recipe works for us. Coleslaw, Serves 6 to 8 8 cups Cabbage -- finely chopped 1/4 cup Carrot -- shredded 3 tbsp Sugar Â½ tsp Salt 1/8 tsp Pepper 1/4 cup Milk Â½ cup Mayonnaise 1/4 cup Buttermilk 1 Â½ tbsp White vinegar 2-Â½ tbsp lemon juice 1 tsp horse radish (I donÂt use) Use the food processor to cut the cabbage and carrots into rice sized pieces. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, salt, pepper, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar, horseradish and lemon juice. Beat until smooth. Add the cabbage and carrots. Mix well. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours before serving.

I'm so sorry he was injured, but...not every HS player will play in college anyway. (Not sure that is a 'bright side', but that's how I intended it.) Very glad he won't have lifelong disability. Our next door neighbor has been an outstandng QB up to now, his senior year in HS. He's announced that he will attend Michigan, hoping to play football there like his dad. He was injured in a game and last week he had surgery on his right ACL -- will be having PT for months and months. His mom says he will be able to be a walk-on by next fall, but...who knows? Having a 'goal' in youth can be both a blessing and a curse! Set-backs feel so 'end of the world' when you're so young. (Kinda hard on a kid whose father named him Bo in homage.)

Oh gosh Vikki! I am so sorry to hear this, I thought he was doing so good when they said it was a mistake.
It really makes you wonder WHY?? Doesn't it.

It's hard enough to be ill without the added stress of what the doctors can put you through. My prayer is that he find out exactly what it is, where it is, and what to do for it. Plus, come out of it perfectly healthy.

Thank you all...Connie he was so excited to hear that it wasn't a brain tumor only to be let down again when they found that it was after all. I just can't believe what they have been doing to him. He doesn't know from day to day if he will live or die soon. The emotional stress is enough to send him over the edge.

Oh how terrible. I pray they can give him some straight answers today. I also pray they can treat it/remove it. The added stress of uncertainty is just to hard to deal with. Prayers for your sister, and your entire family.

That's terrible! I sure hope they can help him, the emotional stress and the lost time must make him feel extreme anxiety. Lots of good positive thoughts that they can really make a turn around for him this year.

I'm keeping Alan in my thoughts and prayers. What a roller coaster ride he is on. He didn't even buy a ticket and they still won't let him off!!
