Need your prayers again....

I haven't posted a lot in the past few months. My DM moved from London to an apartment in Burlington. Now she is just a few minutes from my DB. She hasn't felt well since she moved, dizzy, nauseous and quite wobbly on her feet. I've been spending a lot of time there with her. I finally got her to see her doctor (actually made the appointment behind her back, then dragged out of bed and took her), and was diagnosed with a benign form of vertigo. So now she is on gravol and some pill to help with the dizziness. It's actually helping, thank goodness. The dizziness and nausea have abated, though her legs are still quite weak and she's still wobbly. I keep telling her to use the walker in the apartment but she says it makes her look old! She's 87! LOL!

However, my DB is going into the hospital today for a triple bypass. I know he's pretty scared, so I was hoping you all would say a little prayer for him.

I sure will Laurel. And I'll say some for your dear mom too. Odd for her to think of herself as looking old at 87. LOL

Prayers and good thoughts for your brother today. I hope the surgery goes well. I also hope your mom starts using her walker. My dad refused to use one too when he was getting chemo and radiation, kept falling. He wouldn't listen to me until he fell outside the hospital on his way to a bunch of appointments. They made him use a wheelchair the whole day. I told him he will fall one day and break a hip and may never walk after that or live a normal life. Actually, I think I told him "alot of people never recover from a broken hip!"

I am back home, good gas prices most of the way and I got over 31 mpg...yeah. Wind blew me out of CA and all the way to TX and most of the time there...do not like wind. But it was a safe trip. Parents are fine to take baby home, just had a problem with a mean angry aunt on the other side of baby's family. She wanted to take the baby to raise. But as soon as the baby can drink her bottle and breath at the same time she can go home. Her mama said she was 5lbs 14 oz last night and drank her whole bottle in 15 minutes (they give them 30 minutes). She has chubby cheeks and just smiles up a storm. She looks like a real baby, not a want a be when I was there at birth. She looked at me quick when I talked like she remembered me talking to her and praying over her and singing to her. I am left handed and when I fed her she did very well. When I left, she keeps looking to the left side for her bottle and her mother said what is she doing? LOL. God is good and watches over her for sure. Thanks for all the prayers. What good friends you are. June

Hi Guys, It just hasn't been my day, my week or even my year.........I will live.....and I am at the point that I'm about to rip my hair out. As Lani told you all I was in a very bad accident. Three cars totalled and me in the middle of it all....at this point all I can say is it could have been worse............My 3 year old was not in the truck with me. I have facial fractures and had 60 stiches in my face, inside and out. I was lucky not to lose my eye.....I look bad, but I will live.....I will SEE ALL OF YOU on the 21st..........This little girl hit me hard....she said she was only doing about 15 miles an hour, the paremedic told her that if that was all she was doing, then her airbag would not have exploded. i was in the trauma unit for 12 Hours at the med....I had to take a week off of work.....the doctor wanted me to take two: Bills don't get paid that way. I look bad.......but I will be ok....By the way Lani needs some prayers too. She's been having a rough time too. Laurel, of course I will say a prayer for him. He must be so afraid. Thankfully, even though it is major surgery it is not an uncommon one. I hope all goes well for him.

I have noticed you haven't been posting much for a while. Sometimes life gets in the way. LOL at your mother not wanting to look old, but I hope she will change her mind. It will allow her to move around more safely. Is she taking any medication for the vertigo?

lucky, of course! PLEASE PLEASE have mom use her walker..my mom thought she didn't have to use her cane and down she went, and broke her hip in a dept store...it was down hill from there...almost year of recovery...and she was younger than your mom whe it happen...85...she passed just before her 90th bday...

i know your db is worried but several friends and family who've had the surgery, and have followed dr's orders (not as easy as it sounds) are leading such wonderful lives now...i suggest as a home coming present buy the heart assn. cookbook...it does help!

I'm so sorry Laurel. Hope all goes well for both of them.

My son's friend, just over 50, had triple by pass surgery a couple of months ago. He is doing well, but it is very scary.

I understand her feelings about the walker. Old is 10 years more than whatever you are. I've been ordered to use one too and I get it late this week. I have the same feeling that your Mother does. I'm not old either, even if my kids might disagree. I am younger, considerably than she is. I guess, we should accept what we cannot control.

Thanks for all your wonderful KT thoughts and prayers! My DB came through the surgery okay and is currently doing well. It turned out to be a quadruple bypass but he was able to come through it under his own steam, no pumps, which I understand is a good thing.

His eldest son is coming to pick Mom and I up in the morning to take us to the hospital in Hamilton. God love him, he found out I'm scared to drive there! LOL!

Once again, you guys are the best!

Good thoughts going out and prayers for your brother and mother.

I trust that things will go well with both.

Frequently it is hard to come to terms with one's circumstances as one ages ...

... but sometimes our pride or determined (but outdated) self-image ...

... needs revising.

If we stubbornly resist to amend our vision of ourselves - sometimes the price gets rather high. Too high, fairly frequently.

Facts are facts - refusing to face them and operate in the light of their reality can lead us down some paths that prove to have been unwise, after a while!

But - I don't need to tell you that!

How can we convince your Mom?
