What's for dinner 11/8?

Beautful sunny day today. The cold front is about gone and temps should be close to normal by the end of the week. Tonight we're having a baked chicken breast, roasted potatoes, carrots and onion and warm Italian bread. What are you having tonight?

Lots at the potluck luncheon:
my pumpkin dip
wild rice and sausage casserole
pumpkin and chicken chili
shepherds pie
corn casserole
lasagna
sausage balls
salad
chicken salad
macaroni salad
homemade veggie soup

Too much to try and sample it all.

Gray, dismal and windy here--really looks like a fall day.

DD called earlier and invited herself to dinner--which was fine, because she said she'd stop and pick up Panzarotti's on the way (fried Pizza Turnovers). Haven't had them in a while--great toasty food for a chilly evening.

Good question! My son and daughter-in-law are coming for dinner at 6:30. I was making a favorite dish, Monastery style lentils, figuring we'd have that with a salad and popovers. But at 5:00 p.m. I remembered Monastery style lentils is definitely not a favorite of my son's. Oops! Quick change of direction. Now I'm making tofu and broccoli over spaghetti. No popovers. Date-Oatmeal bars for dessert.

Lemon-pepper pork chops, green beans, rice with fresh garlic, steamed cauliflower. I did good if I say so myself! Marilyn Sue, I have to remember to get some sweet potatoes this week. Love them any way they're prepared!

Leftover 5 Hour Oven Stew will be reheated. DH is working tonight and I may have to run supper out to him again. The stew will be easy to take!

Nodakgal, could you please share your stew recipe. I googled "5 hour oven beef stew" but there are many recipes and none of them are the same. I KNOW you're a good cook so I'd trust your recipe. TIA!

Hmmmm...not sure...wanted chicken..but the little buggars aren't thawed yet..soooooo it's probably meatloaf...or swedish meatballs...dunno.....it's only 2...

hahaha Patti! I am laughing at the "good cook". Sometimes NOT. I love to make this on the week-ends especially because I can lay down with a good book or take a nap and get up and supper is ready.

5 Hour Stew
1 lb (or close) stew meat
4 carrots-chunked ( I use a half bag of baby carrots)
4 or 5 potatoes (depending on size) quartered
1 large onion chunked
celery 2 stalks-chunked
3 tablespoons small pearl tapioca
3 cups V-8 juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 to a teaspoon beef bullion or soup base
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
Put meat and vegetables in roaster, mix remaining ingredients, pour juice mixture over meat and vegetables. Seal pan tightly with foil, then cover tightly with roaster lid. Bake @ 250 degrees 5 hours.

I am making the sausage and rice casserole that was in the recipes recently it just sounds so good.

I have an awesome crockpot stew recipe, so far the best stew I have ever made, I posted it recently on the recipe thread.
