Comments (17)I use any excuse to buy a dress! My everyday life. work and social is very casual, so I find wearing a dress special. I would do a simple knee length dress. I would go shopping at the stores before doing online shopping. Sizing nowadays is so difficult, you don't want to waste money sending things back. I agree about dress slacks and a nice top. A pretty sweater set with 3/4 sleeves might be nice too. Are you okay with going out of the comfort zone of Wal-Mart? My favorite store is Loft, but for dressier than the sister store Anne Taylor. I never ever pay full price for anything. Things are alway going on sale, you just have to be diligent. I would check out Chico's, and then make the rounds of the department stores. Macy's, Lord and Taylor, lots of coupons for Mother's Day and there will be for Memorial Day....See MoreMy turn for advice on what to wear to a wedding
Comments (31)Bac717 i have that same dress in the paisley and wore to a wedding. Got many compliments on it and it was very appropriate for me at 53. With the high neckline I didn't need any jewelry but you could go either way. I had a summer silk scarf in pink as my dress was multi colored I am tall and very thin and find that Tommy Hilfinger dresses fit me well....See MoreWedding receptions, commentary not complaint
Comments (50)If money is no object....then money is no object. (Yeah, I know, I'm brilliant. Ha.) If someone has the cash to spend, I hold zero opinions how they should spend it. That's the beauty of America. :) How someone chooses to spend discretionary income is up to you. My concern is that there seems to be huge pressure to make the wedding An Event to Remember anymore. Too many people are focused on planning a party, and not thinking about the fact that means you're (allegedly) going to be spending the rest of your life with this person. As I said, I know people who took out loans to provide An Event to Remember for their daughters' wedding/s. Half of those weddings are already over. I'm not sure I see the value in spending multiples of tens of thousands of dollars that they had to borrow, particularly on something that is a transitory state for about half the people who enter into a marriage anymore. I'd like to see more people focus on the actual marriage itself, rather than the party which precedes it. :-/...See Morematti5
