What's for Dinner Tonite?

We celebrated Thanksgiving Sunday, brought home a bunch of food and had leftovers last nite.

So it was tacos tonite. Still have potatoes, turnip puff, dressing, carrot salad and a bit of turkey to eat!

It was sister's night for us tonight at the Home where my special needs sister lives. I had an Arby's roast beef in my freezer, so I took that and went through the McDs drive-thru for some of their broccoli cheese soup. My niece and her daughter were in from AZ so joined us tonight. And my cousin and his wife from WV drove out to join us also. It was a little bit of a family reunion.

We had a wonderful time. I just love visiting with Nita and Carol and Nita's husband is just as easy to get to know as she is. They have lived in so many countries and so many places I love hearing about. It's not every day you hear someone say in conversation, "When we lived in Ethiopia..." What an exciting life! I was a little disappointed in my lunch. I thought the ham loaf was a little dry because I left it in longer than I should have. Same with the potatoes and I won't even discuss the asparagus. But everybody seemed to like it and had seconds on the potatoes. I didn't have dessert because we don't usually eat our big meal until evening. So no dinner for us tonight unless we want to "pick". Where is everyone tonight?

Yes, Jas. That's the recipe I used. If you make them, be very careful adding the baking soda it foams up real fast. I added a teeny tiny bit at a time. I had a very tall pot and didn't have any trouble with the boiling over but they are still very messy to make. I had cleaned my cook top the night before (foolish that I was) and had to wipe down everything when I was through. They are worth it though. I did find they were even better the second day heated through.

Thanks, Jasdip. Harry has had the computer tied up again finishing up our taxes. I thought he'd NEVER get finished! But, they're done and sent--whew! We had last night's dinner tonight because by the time we got around to it yesterday, it was late so we just had sandwiches. I've tried a few of the Pioneer Woman's recipe and they turned out well. Her personality doesn't come over as well on TV as it does in her writing, but she's a cutie. Sounds like everyone is well-fed tonight. Enjoy your evening!!

Glad you liked the Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie. I agree with the sugar and cinnamon. I think if I make it again, I too would cut down on the cinnamon sugar mixture. However, I highly recommend the honey. It does add a nice dimension to it. We went to Wine and Cheese tonight. Everyone brings an appetizer and the host couple provides the wine. There was overkill on pigs in a blanket. LOL Anyway, that will serve as dinner for us. I posted on Saturdays I'll share my recipe if you'll share yours about the honey but I'm sure it was way after you had made the dessert. Do try the chicken pot pie recipe. I think it's really good. I'll let you know how it is with turkey.

I had a great big plate of green beans cooked with onion and bacon and a pint of milk :) No pie or cookies for me.

Salmon loaf, mashed potatoes and creamed peas. We really like this meal, but it sure stinks up the house. I just sprayed an air freshener around.

Had to run postcards to the mailing house so dinner was on the boss tonight, stopped at Chilis. I had the chicken, beef and shrimp fajitas sans the tortillas, beans and rice. Hubby had a steak w/broccoli.

We had Wine and dine tonight. Went out to a very nice restaurant. I had the seafood pasta. It was packed full of seafood. Delish. I ate about 1/3 of it, so have my dinner for tomorrow night. DH had steak Dianne. It was cooked to perfection.
