I do not text neither does my husband and we do not have texting in our plan, we do not have them blocked so far but we have been getting the occasional junk text if that continues will be having all text blocked. It cost 20c each and if it has pics 30c each on our current plan. I hate that there are now spammers that are sending text the last thing I want to do is pay for spam!

I have told all family and friends I do not have texting so don't bother.

I text far more than I talk on the phone. But before I text someone, I always ask whether it's okay.

My phone has texting as part of the plan. I take a lot of pictures and send them to my dh. I don't mind recieving texts from people, but I don't carry a phone all the time either. I don't give out my cell number as my first point of contact.

I also text more than I talk. I have an unlimted texting plan - but the company I have for cell service has free incoming text, so even if you don't text - you can still get them on your phone for free. Incoming Pics are free also

I would give up the "talk" before the "text" for sure!

I have it blocked and dont ever plan on doing it. I dont even like talking on the phone so why would I want to text someone. I see enough time wasted at work where everyone is texting instead of working.

My incoming calls and texts are free. If a friend texts me, I will answer them with a text. It costs me 25 cents. I like to send photos to DS from my phone but don't do it often. I think he has to pay for incoming texts and photos.

With texting you get right to the point and don't have to chit chat for a half hour when you just wanted to know one little thing.

Right now we are texting back and forth with our daughter ...following the score with grandsons football game. Yikes...right now they are down 7 points at the end of the first quarter.

I'd be lost without texting. Even before I had to text only because of my recent deafness it was how my kids and I kept in touch. DS went to not responding to phone calls (at least not promptly) ages ago. But if I text him he's on it.

I don't like to talk on a phone that much anyway so text is better in my opinion.

I don't text, but I don't block them just in case of emergency. As long as I don't open the text, I don't get charged.

I learned to text to keep in touch with my 16 year old step-daughter. She's pretty proud of me :-) I do find it intrusive though, and it's not easy for me. I have a touch screen phone so it IS easier then with the phone's numeric pad.

I think texting is great, too. It is quick and to the point.

I not only don't text, I generally don't use my cell phone more than about 10 minutes a month.

Jan, on the other hand, has that silly earpiece on all day long, so I basically only use my cell phone to call her when she is in the other room...When she says "Hello",,,I say, "Room service? Can I get a cup of coffee sent here to the computer room?"

I handle them very well. My texting / calling are about even. Dh rarely texts but gets updates on grain prices sent to him via text, several times a day. My kids text me often, none of them are phone talkers. Probably more than anything we get updates from coaches,group leaders and rarely the school sends out snow closings or late opening alerts. My cell provider sends my bill via text before I get it in the mail. I could probaby think of a dozen more things. This is a good feature for us.

I text way more than I talk my phone plan 300 phone minutes per month and unlimited texting. I have an android phone with google talk texting. I don't have to type. This message was talk text

On my one GSM phone I had free incoming texts but switched to CDMA for better phone coverage. I don't know of a way to block texts on my prepaid phone or I would do it. I don't get charged for incoming texts if I don't open them so if I don't know the number, I don't open them. With rare exception I normally use Yahoo to text through the computer. I'm not a cellphone addict and don't plan to ever become one. I can't see $30, $50, $100 a month or more for a cellphone. Sure isn't worth it to me. I use the computer, not a cellphone.

When I went solo, I tried to keep all my costs down. I don't have a land line phone, and just rely on my cell.

450 minutes a month, and even with my love for talking I get by. But I chose not to do texting. Then I started getting charged for incoming texts, even when I didn't open them. That is when I had them blocked.

I have a dinosaur of a phone, not even a picture taking option. I truly use it just for phoning, and hope, it will last a long time still. No need for all the fancy stuff that comes now a days with a cell phone.

Luckily I got my daughters dinosaur as well, and I am saving it for a back up. LOL

I love talking, and love my computer, and do both a lot. I can receive texts via my computer, as well as send them. There is only one person I text with. She is way to hard to get a hold of, and terrible about calling back. So, computer to phone texting is my way to communicate with her.

Yes...Text messages are the fastest way to communicate with adult children - their preference.
They say too much junk in email and voicemail to weed thru - texting is better.

I have to laugh when these texting threads come up and people will say "I use it at work to stay in touch with friends and family because we aren't allowed to talk on the phone". HA! Now that's beating the system right...I'm sure the employer didn't mean you could text all day! GAH!

I hate to text. I only get them from my one sister and the last time she texted me, I just called her back and we talked for an hour...HA!

My cell phone is for my kids and family and friends to get in touch with me. I don't have trouble reaching them. I always have my cell phone with me.

I have a trac phone now for my cell phone and dont know the first thing about texting. I only use it to tell DS where I'm at in a store or/and have it available for emergency use.

I started texting when I got my iphone about 13 months ago. I have a plan for $5.00 a month that includes 200 texts and it's plenty for me.

I like it for quick stuff. And my daughter says it's the best way to reach her if she's at work. I never never text while driving and rarely even talk on my phone while driving.

I have never had to delete any texts yet and it's fun sometimes to go back and read the conversations!

I don't text. I use e-mail. Why try typing on that silly limited cell phone key pad? The only text messages I read on my cell phone are instructions laid in by the phone company or emergency messages from a member of my family. All other text messages are simply deleted without reading them. My cell phone service does not charge for deleteing messages.

LOL! Sherrmann, If I received a text from a family member, I would assume it was an emergency and would read it. All others, I ignore.
