Rainy day here today but went to lunch with my neighbor. One of our favorite seafood places has half price Wednesday's and the entire menu is half price so I got the seafood platter deluxe knowing that I would have enough extra left over for my dinner. I have a strip steak to cook for hubby.
This might become our new Wednesday lunch spot. Awesome good food. Can't beat the price.

I steamed some kale a couple of nights ago, I have no trouble convincing DH to eat it. His father grew and cooked a lot of kale, and he could have served sautéed cardboard and DH still would have raved about it ;) - the man couldn't do anything wrong.

It was Lacinato kale, first time I'd bought that one. It didn't cook down like other kales for me so I had larger servings than I'd planned. Sautéed a bit with a little garlic, then I added some water and let it steam some, drizzled with olive oil after.

We're going to our first ever 'reveal' dinner tonight. I'm the wrong generation I suppose for that, I'd never heard of one but the clerk in Macy's where I picked up a generic infants stuffed animal yesterday told me they are common now.

Our nephew and his wife had 'gifted' us with a baby announcement Christmas eve. Very sadly, they lost that pregnancy soon after. Second try and the first trimester is behind them, they are feeling confident enough they are having hamburgers, corn, baked beans, salad for extended family tonight at their home, and will tell us 'boy or girl'.

Morz, he'll eat some chopped fine in a salad but doesn't like it as a side dish or in tomato dishes. He finds the flavour too strong

I like it cooked exactly how you do yours, but I have to remember to cook it longer than I do; it's too chewy.

Reheated pork roast with rice pilaf and green beans on a wonderful, mostly sunny day. Only thing missing is air movement. There isn't a leaf moving.

I just made hotdogs & beans and steak fries. Not really what I wanted but it was quick.

Leftover Subway and chips. I've never had cooked kale but I sure like to eat a raw little piece and have it in salads. I like raw cabbage too. I wish there was a cole slaw recipe that doesn't use, shudder, mayonnaise.

Went to a breakfast buffet this morning and have been on the go ever since. Went to Hardee's and got a hot ham and cheese for my evening meal. I am so tired.....hope I can make it to watch The Roosevelts tonight.

Never got to eat my Chinese last night so I will eat it tonight. DH still has his, too.

Quick Happy Hour at the sandbox, the breeze was chilly. Could see Michigan to the East and Chicago to the West. Sadly no chance to escape to the sunny SW where the week forecast is 101-110. Perfect. Switched menu to a juicy BLT. A warm garden tomato can't be beat. Take leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Will find some healthy sweets later.
Besides Mayo, my other cole slaw dressing is a sweet sour oil & vinegar.

We go through most of a big bag of chopped kale a week, in our daily greens and fruit 'sludgie ', as an addition to a pot of field peas and rice, and cooked up like collards.

Deeby, there are tons of vinegar based slaw recipes out there.....zero vinegar.

I'm cooking up a pot of Rice Select mixed grains and rice, cooked with onions and green peppers, a big portion of crowder peas tossed in the pot. It's seasoned with some hot sauce and catsup. It smells so good!

It'll go with some left over chicken from a few days ago and sliced tomatoes.

Rhizo, do you cook the kale in with the rice?

Long day at work. Was supposed to be an 8 hour day, spent it doing a disaster drill and then going to the OR to watch a couple surgeries. Nice break from the norm, got back to my unit and they asked me to stay for overtime so I did. Didn't bring dinner since I thought I was leaving at 4:30, so I was starving by the time I left. Picked up and ate a Subway ham & cheese on the way home. There was barely any ham or cheese on it...oh, well.

Jasdip....yep, I toss the kale in the pot for the last 15 minutes or so. And yes, I meant zero mayo!

Deeby try doing cole slaw with a bit of ranch dressing, very good.
