What's for dinner Friday?

What a day this has been. I took Harry back to Gainesville for the follow-up with his primary care doctor about his swollen glands on the right side of his face/neck. When they took his vitals his BP was dangerously low, so they sent us to ER where they hooked him up to an IV to rehydrate him. They gave him a liter of liquid and decided to keep him and figure out the glands and get his kidneys (which now are in bad shape) straightened out. They did a CT and took an x-ray of his glands. He'll be in until at least Monday.

It was a long day--we left home at 8:15 and I just got home. Lots of walking and I'm very tired. Hope you all have a wonderful dinner, but this gal's headed for bed!

Oh, Patti, and here I was complaining about my overly busy day and how tired I was............and mine was nothing like yours. Rest well.

Glenda, they opened a deli in my small town. I guess it's been there for a while, but I'd not heard of it. My 4 sisters and I went there today. They got chicken salad on a croissant, but I got a roast beef. You got a choice of potato salad or soup, and your choice of coffee, tea or pop. The sandwiches were all huge and none of us could eat more than half. I lucked out. I not only brought home my half sandwich but one of my sisters as well. So my evening meal was free.

Sue, glad you were able to get out and about. I see Indpls. weather in our newspaper. Like to look since DB lives in Greensburg. We only got up to 49 today--or so the paper said. Just heard we should have 70 on Monday, though. Glenda--haha! Hope you enjoyed that tamale. I had a pork tamale a couple of years ago at a little bakery that sells other things on the side. It was homemade and pretty good. Raven, happy birthday to your DH and have a wonderful dinner. I think yours sounds delicious! Shirley, isn't it fun to read restaurant menus? Sure is hard to make up one's mind sometimes! Especially if I'm hungry!! You must be having meatless Friday tonight. We used to do Monday's. (But not every Monday.) Rhizo, I will be right there! Oh, I do love sausage gravy. Now I'll be dreaming about it!! Jasdip, a turkey breast really goes a long way, doesn't it? Okay by me, I love it. Nice dinner--does your cabbage soup have a lot of different veggies in it? Mine does. I use the recipe from the cabbage soup diet. Very yummy!

Kayjones: I'll take one of each. Haven't had either one in a long time. Sue: You do eating right by not eating a full meal when you're only hungry for a banana. I'd have to add it to a bowl of oatmeal. lol The bananas haven't looked good in my area lately so haven't bought any for about a month. Jasdip: Your entire meal sounds like something I'd like to try. I'll take a small amount of each. Mary: What did you put in your shells? Ravencajun: I like your kind of soup. I often do that myself. We actually stayed at condos a few miles outside the park. We had 13 people in a three bedroom unit and a two bedroom unit. The condos were supposed to be adjacent, but there was a mix-up and they were two floors apart. My brother had timeshare points that he had to use by the end of June, and he used them to "pay" for both condos for everyone. So comparing one tasty meal with 4 nights free lodging I think he wins the favorite son/brother/uncle award. The park itself was fun (although crowded) but the area outside the park is the capital of kitsch, with endless billboards, shops, restaurants and "attractions", including a scale model titanic, and a Hatfield/McCoy-themed dinner theater.

Glenda, he liked it a lot. But he would've loved those fried chicken thighs. Georgysmom, I won't have to cook tomorrow either. My potatoes was huge and Harry's dinner serves 2 (or in his case 3). Joann, I've never made or eaten potato pancakes that I remember but people sure do love them. I would like the veggies in teriyaki--how did you do that? Lindalou, just be glad Jim's getting rid of something in the frig. But your dinner sounds better. Sue, you really are working way too hard. Hope you can get a break from all that hot canning for a few days this weekend. Really, you need a break, my dear!! Shirley, that sounds so good. Thanks for the milk tip. Wish I 'd read it before dinner. I will do that on the leftover potato tomorrow. I had quite a bad time of it so drank a Kellogg's Special K drink and ate some Kozy Shack tapicoa. Jasdip--wow, what a great price on Napa. That's probably my favorite cabbage. And it's so pretty!! That's a good way to package the peaches because people think you squeeze them to see if they're ripe--wrong--just smell them. I hope there were vents in them. Raven, all good things must come to an end--sigh! At least you know your DH is going to be a happy guy tonight (happy to see you even more than the home-cooked meal).

Rest is exactly what you need.....busy stressful day.

I made a yummy philly cheese steak with the leftover London broil from the other night...Pretty darned good too!

gadgets, I love chicken salad on a croissant! We have a McAlister's here, and I always get roast beef au ju on a croissant.

jeaninwa, philly steak sounds yummy! Only one I ever had was in Philly!

Had lunch at the club today...turkey sandwich and sweet potato fries. Only ate half and had the other half for dinner. Had to go to urgent care after golf today (long story, nothing serious) I was told I had to rest my arm for a few days and plan on milking that a bit.

georgysmom, have you tried sweet potato fries with ranch dressing for dipping? Our botanical gardens restaurant does that and so good.

Bummer on urgent care. Yep rest up, you got another week coming.

Oh Patti, how tired and worried you must be. I hope you can get some good rest this weekend. No dinner tonight. I nursed a glass of wine for 3 hours and came home to an English muffin.

Papa Murphy's pizza..and Albertsons Fried Chicken for the Daddy..

Easy peasy..

And they are off to the HS football game..I am off to pick up Kian..

Browned off chicken breasts in bacon grease, for a little added flavor and it kept them from drying out, put in a basic white sauce, served over penne. YUM!

Patti, I keep you and your husband in my prayers. I hope that they can find a resolution for your husband and that you will get some rest and beat this Cancer. We went to Olive Garden last night to celebrate our cousin's birthday. Way to much food, but it was delicious. Especially the soup!

Slow cooked (in the oven) beef ribs. They are TDF. But having the oven on all day in this heat drained me of the energy or enthusiasm of eating them. Baked beans and corn on the cob on the side. I took a few bites of each and lay down in front of three fans and took a nap! LOL
