What's for Dinner..... Friday?

I gave in to wanting pizza for supper. Topped it off with a slice of apple pie.

It's only January and I'm already tired of the snow, ice, and cold weather.

So what will be/was on your table tonight?

I am not too hungry so I just had a banana, unless something else strikes my fancy :) It has been another long and cold day. Had to be out and about most of the day it seems. Lots of snow predicted for us over the weekend.

Glenda, I'm green with envy. What a great meal. I'd be happy with the crab bisque--but the crawfish and slaw just make it even better. I think if I was you, I'd go back tomorrow for seconds. :-) Georgysmom, I bought a bag of hash browns and now I can't for the life of me remember what for. Looks like a lot of us are having a seafood night. Pam, have fun and enjoy the pizza!! Sounds like a good TGIF to me. Keeping Harry's INR steady is getting hard for me. Harry was doing so well for a long time and suddenly it went up to 3.1. They want his between 2.0 and 2.5. I found a good list of foods high and low in Vitamin K. It does say to avoid cranberries, BTW. Don't know why, except that it interferes with the Coumadin. I've been making menus and keeping track of everything he eats. They suggested it, but I want to e-mail it to them to see what I'm doing wrong/right. Bless you for helping your sister. Raven, that sounds like the perfect summer meal. Valdalia onions are my favorite. And they are really big this year. I chopped one this afternoon and it made two cups full. Shirley, I think we've all been hungry for seafood today. As far as the menus go, I make them by the week, but they aren't set in stone. What I have down for Monday I may not want so I switch days around. Makes it a little easier and really helps make the grocery list. Oh gosh, Mary. I think you'd better start building an ark! Glad you got things done at home so you can rest up over the weekend.

I also wish more restaurants would offer half portions or something similar. I'm not sure about dinner yet. It's 8pm & DH is working an hour & a half away. He'll probably end up grabbing something on the way home. In that case, I'll just make myself a sandwich & have some fruit & yogurt. I have enough stuffed pepper mix to make a batch tonight, but I've had a headache for several hours & don't really feel like doing that. It's actually supposed to be sunny here tomorrow. I'm trying to get some household things done in spite of the headache so I can spend some time at the pool tomorrow.

Oh, Patti, and here I was complaining about my overly busy day and how tired I was............and mine was nothing like yours. Rest well. Glenda, they opened a deli in my small town. I guess it's been there for a while, but I'd not heard of it. My 4 sisters and I went there today. They got chicken salad on a croissant, but I got a roast beef. You got a choice of potato salad or soup, and your choice of coffee, tea or pop. The sandwiches were all huge and none of us could eat more than half. I lucked out. I not only brought home my half sandwich but one of my sisters as well. So my evening meal was free. Shirley

Glenda, nice way for a restaurant to lose customers, huh? You aren't doing so good this week--that's two days in a row for bad dinners. At least yesterday, you got dinner! Seagrass, your meals are likely more tasty than restaurant meals anyway. But it is nice not to have to cook all the time. Sue, sure hope you feel better. I bought some Alka-Seltzer Plus cold med. in case I feel a cold coming on. It works well for me. Chicken soup always helps, too. Jasdip, I was able to eat three saltines with ham salad on top! Woohoo!! Also ate a mug of noodle soup. Of course, I'd rather have your taco salad :-( Isn't it nice to see the sun shining? Mary, I bet 38 did feel like a heat wave after that 19 you had the other morning. I'm waiting until next week to clean. The house stays pretty clean since I'm not cooking. Shirley, I need to make some beef barley soup. It sounds delicious. Glad you had sunshine--it feels so good in the winter. (Guess it isn't winter yet, though.) Jean, you're doing really well with your low-carb meals. You're a saint to fix your DH mashed potatoes when you can't eat them!! Aw Hellion, I'm waitin' for the day I can eat bacon. I think I'll just fry up a whole pound and have at it :-) Georgysmom, I forgot you were in Florida with your GF's. Sure wish you had better weather, but I just know you're having a great time anyway. I'll say a prayer to the weather gods for nice, sunny, warm days the rest of the week.

Hi Shirley!
We're still in a cold blast. Should get to normal temps; just a little below the freezing mark for the weekend.

We finished up some leftovers.....breaded chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese, brown rice and some Haystacks for dessert. Haystacks are chow mein noodles that have been covered in melted peanut butter and chocolate chips and refrigerated. Easy treat to make.

Cold here too, only got to 21 all day. Went out to play with the dogs as we had a little snow.

Dinner for hubby was leftover manicotti , I had some shells

I have been wanting a good home made mixed vegetables soup so I just threw one together from the pantry, fridge and freezer. I don't know how it will be but it was the best I could do with what I had.
I told hubby he has to make us some toasted cheese bread to go with it.
I think it might make me feel better, I sure hope so.

I was tired of cold weather back in July, now it's just worse. Must be that global warming? How about hot dogs, beans, and delicious greasy fried taters all doused in Ketchup.

Kayjones: I'll take one of each. Haven't had either one in a long time.

Sue: You do eating right by not eating a full meal when you're only hungry for a banana. I'd have to add it to a bowl of oatmeal. lol The bananas haven't looked good in my area lately so haven't bought any for about a month.

Jasdip: Your entire meal sounds like something I'd like to try. I'll take a small amount of each.

Mary: What did you put in your shells?

Ravencajun: I like your kind of soup. I often do that myself. Toasted bread to go with it ... that should really make you feel better.

Old Fixer: Hold the ketchup and I'll join you at your table. That's one of my favorite comfort meals.

Orchid: Salmon patties: one of my favorites; Scalloped potatoes: I could eat them at least once a week; Blackeyed peas: never tried them.

Glenda: I'd go with you to the place you went to today anytime.

The soup and cheese bread were excellent. It did help but then I got sleepy lol. Now watching the cotton bowl, see if Osu can win like our Sooners did last night.

Veggie soup sounds delightful..in fact I could throw something together in a pot... And I just may..

BigD and I have been out and about most of the day..so my fridge is stocked..
Dinner will be custom pannini's...so some soup would be good!

We stopped and got doughnuts out of town...we had ours with coffe at the shop..and brought some home for the boys...

So dessert first. ;)

So my pannini is chicken, havarti, provolone, avocado and bacon.
I also made soup...so yummy..I highly recommend it..and quick!
