What's for dinner Friday?

Woke up to a chilly morning. The thermometer said it was 48 degrees! Brrr! Dinner tonight will be a bowl of pureed vegetable soup. Had some for lunch and it's so weird how differently things taste right now. It tastes like a spilled the pepper shaker in it--wasn't that way before I froze it!

Not a lot for my supper. Cheryl brought out some ham and mac and cheese and we added some things to it for our lunch, so I am not too hungry this evening. Just an apple and some nuts and iced tea. Happy, happy, happy! All the apples are finally canned. Today 3 quarts and 8 pints of applesauce. Tomorrow back to tomatoes for juice. It did not get out of the 40's today and woke up to around 26 I think.

48 degrees would really be cold for you, Patti. And, Sue, 26 is way too cold for October!!!!! It was in the low 40s here in OH this afternoon.

Comfort food will be my meal.......ham, cabbage, and potatoes.

I hope your taste buds go back to working the way they're supposed to pretty soon. How frustrating that must be.

Glenda, I don't think I've ever seen quesadillas with sauce on top. Harry orders them often when we eat out. I bought a quesadilla maker to make them at home, but the results were iffy. Can't put a lot of filling in them or they make a mess. Shirley, your dinner sounds great, but you would be welcomed here, too. Someday I have to learn I'm not cooking for a crowd! Thanks for the rain, Mary. Glad you got to dry out a little, anyway. My Sis-I-L had 5 feeders on her porch and those hummers were just thick. They have to fill them several times a day. When we were there it must've been dinner time because every feeder had at least 3 birds and they were so thick in the trees you could easily see the little things. It was a sight!! They weren't even trying to fight each other off.

Glenda, those darned love bugs drive me nuts! I noticed one on the car this afternoon. Hope you asked the Ashley Mac to put the spinach tart back on the menu. Did you have the sour cream biscuit?? Jasdip, do you have your heat on at night? Or just enjoy the coolness? We have the worst Chinese food around here. On the other side of town, there must be 5 gigantic Chinese buffets. Wish we had our favorite small Chinese place we had in Dunedin. Such fresh tasting food. Shirley, I'd be right over if I could taste right, darn it. That sounds so good. We're all eating egg salad, seems like. Hey, it's good to share meal ideas, right? Georgysmom, glad you played well today. See practice pays off!! When does the bathroojm makeover start?

Marilyn, are you building a new barn "from scratch"? That's quite a job. Your dinners sound good and I'm sure Jody appreciates them. I am going to make your cake with the candied fruit in it this year for sure. I bought the fruit quite a while ago. Hope it's still good, although I can't see how it could go bad. Raven, LOL! Harry used to call his lab work visiting the vampires, too. That shrimp po-boy sure sounds yummy. Shirley, I think asked you about your sisters before--I have 5 also. I have one brother, too. Yeah, I'm not big on sauerkraut, but that's just me. Alisande, the recipe sounds good and the picture looks good. Did you like it? I think I'd like it on rice better than mashed potatoes.

Hopefully, dear patti, you'll be eating real foods soon!

Lots to do, as I have snacks for 50 plus, on Sunday.
Lost one of my loaf pans for my pumpkin bread, so I made it in a bundt pan.

Fixing to make some cheese puffs, brownie brittle, and marinated cheese. Will finish up tomorrow.

NOT CHEAP!

So after a haircut, ran to 5 Guys for a little burger with lettuce, mayo and grilled onions.

It was a beautiful day here today but I was busy cleaning out my closet so the contractor can work on it while we are away. We're headed for the outer banks on Sunday and unbeknownst to DH I'm having my closet ripped out, painted, rebuilt and new carpeting. If you don't hear from me in a while, I might be looking for a new place to live. LOL

We're going out for dinner tonight and then we are going to see Spamelot. I could really use the time at home but we got the tickets weeks ago. I'm sure it will be fun

Beautiful day here today, would love a few months just like this.
I have a slab of ribs and baked potatoes for dinner tonight.

Baked tilapia w/butter, lemon and capers, "Super Buttered Noodles" (cooked in chicken stock and tossed with butter, sour cream and parsley) and broccoli/cauliflower with cheese sauce.

This morning it was 24 here with a killer frost. All my plants on the back porch got hit, they are all annuals. I just purchased a new floribunda rose that is purple. We are hoping it will look nice between the 2 abelia shrubs that are white.

For dinner it was the ziti bake so that was easy. I want to start getting the ingredients so I can begin to make fruit cakes for Christmas.

The heat came on last night as temps dropped into the low 30s. Brrrr. Our house is really well insulated and tight and the heat won't come on even when the temperatures are in the 40s. Well, we set the thermostat at around 63, so that has a lot to do with it, lol.

I've got a big ribeye marinating, we'll split it. Onions and mushrooms will be sauteed in some butter to heap over a baked potato. Think I'll steam some broccoli to put some green on the plate.

We took our friend out for lunch, for helping us move. He loves, loves the Mandarin (large Chinese buffet). We don't care for it, but as it's his favourite, we went there for lunch.

Dinner was nothing, so far. :)

Roast beef, steamed white rice, green beans and the last of the fresh tomatoes from the garden.
Beautiful weather here.....lows at night are in the mid 50's.
But the days are more Autumnish.

Going to get take out..

Tokoyo Stop...for potstickers and teriyaki..

I make all of that myself...but it was a long week..and I have dozens of cookies to bake and frost..

Bought a frozen apple pie a while ago.

Son's lady gave me a tray of lasagna, topped with plastic sheet and a cardboard of instructions for baking, so got both of them out of the freezer before coming to the library: figured might as well get two birds with one stone. Baked 'em on return, and topped off the proceeding with some yogourt, coffee and milk.

All in all - a refreshing repast.
