What's for dinner Friday?

Had the nicest Thanksgiving yesterday with my daughter and SIL and DGS. DGS is so cute and kind and smart and funny. No kidding--he really is all those things and more. I loved spending time with them all. They helped (actually they didi it) put up the tree so I can decorate it later. Terri helped me so much with dinner since I have a terrible cold and sore throat. That was the only bad part of the day.

I was able to taste food for about the first time and was able to eat small amounts of corn casserole, dressing, a tiny bit of turkey and cinnamon apples--and they all tasted like they were supposed to. It was heaven!

Tonight I'm having soup again to ease my throat hopefully. And what's for dinner at your house?

I am glad that you had a great Thanksgiving day, Patti, and hope that you will feel better soon.

We are having leftovers--what else! LOL

Patti, I am glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. Sorry you are not feeling good. Be careful with that sore throat, you don't want strep.

Yesterday morning was 11 deg. & this morning 18 deg. but lots of sun both days.

Today dinner was leftovers. Have just enough turkey left for sandwiches another day.

Got to talk to the grandkids yesterday. The best was talking to my great-grand son. He is 2 1/2 & a chatterbox. He can make you laugh just by asking all his silly questions.

Sue, glad you were able to get out and about. I see Indpls. weather in our newspaper. Like to look since DB lives in Greensburg. We only got up to 49 today--or so the paper said. Just heard we should have 70 on Monday, though. Glenda--haha! Hope you enjoyed that tamale. I had a pork tamale a couple of years ago at a little bakery that sells other things on the side. It was homemade and pretty good. Raven, happy birthday to your DH and have a wonderful dinner. I think yours sounds delicious! Shirley, isn't it fun to read restaurant menus? Sure is hard to make up one's mind sometimes! Especially if I'm hungry!! You must be having meatless Friday tonight. We used to do Monday's. (But not every Monday.) Rhizo, I will be right there! Oh, I do love sausage gravy. Now I'll be dreaming about it!! Jasdip, a turkey breast really goes a long way, doesn't it? Okay by me, I love it. Nice dinner--does your cabbage soup have a lot of different veggies in it? Mine does. I use the recipe from the cabbage soup diet. Very yummy!

Georgysmom, you crack me up. You sure have some fun friends--any old excuse for a get together! Here's one to remember that I think you really should celebrate: June 2 - National "Bubba" day honoring anyone with the name or nickname Bubba. Sounds like party time to me. Have fun at your mystery meal--I'm sure it'll be great. Glenda, it may not of been a quesadilla, but it still sounds good. Isn't it fun to plan a holiday meal (Sunday being Father's Day)? Much more fun than the actual shopping/cooking/cleaning. But I always get excited when we have company. Satine, I'm sure sorry to hear you still have that stuff. Do you have any Immodium AD? Be sure to drink a lot of water. Hope the rice stays down, my dear. Mary, we only have 2 bedrooms but we have had Harry's daughter and the three grandkids. It all depends on how long they plan to stay. Ours usually spend a week. Luckily we have two baths. It takes a lot of planning and I'll give you a hint. I make sure the house is presentable but not spotlessly clean, because that will have to be done when they leave. I'll have a bowl of chili, please :-)

I also wish more restaurants would offer half portions or something similar. I'm not sure about dinner yet. It's 8pm & DH is working an hour & a half away. He'll probably end up grabbing something on the way home. In that case, I'll just make myself a sandwich & have some fruit & yogurt. I have enough stuffed pepper mix to make a batch tonight, but I've had a headache for several hours & don't really feel like doing that. It's actually supposed to be sunny here tomorrow. I'm trying to get some household things done in spite of the headache so I can spend some time at the pool tomorrow.

Oh, Patti, and here I was complaining about my overly busy day and how tired I was............and mine was nothing like yours. Rest well. Glenda, they opened a deli in my small town. I guess it's been there for a while, but I'd not heard of it. My 4 sisters and I went there today. They got chicken salad on a croissant, but I got a roast beef. You got a choice of potato salad or soup, and your choice of coffee, tea or pop. The sandwiches were all huge and none of us could eat more than half. I lucked out. I not only brought home my half sandwich but one of my sisters as well. So my evening meal was free. Shirley

Well, traditionally, we have pizza for dinner the day after Thanksgiving.

So...pizza it will be!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time, Patti.

We're having Thanksgiving dinner tonight! Again. Not much in the way of leftovers, but enough for a couple of nice servings.

I divvied up all of the nice desserts for my guests to take home so only have a little bit remaining here, thank goodness, lol. Ooooh, the cheesecake and that apple cake.

I'm so sorry you're sick.

I didn't find out till after 10am yesterday that some kind angel was arranging it so I could go to the Home to eat with my sister. Talk about thankful. So I had an absolutely delicious dinner there. Then less than 3 hrs later, I had another dinner at my daughters. Then today my son brought me leftovers which included my much wanted oyster dressing. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday.

Sweet Betsy, somehow the leftovers always taste better to me. Maybe it's because we're not too tired from cooking to enjoy it :-)

Mary, I sent most of the leftovers home with Terri, but I cooked the bones this morning and got about 3 more cups of turkey from them and 4 or 5 cups of broth. I bet it was fun talking with the little ones. I'm glad you enjoyed your day, but it sure was a cold one! Our high here was only 60-low was 30. Very wintry weather for this area.

Jean, that's a great tradition. Usually people have sandwiches or heated leftovers for lunch the next day and are ready to move on.

Rhizo, nice of you to share the leftovers. I can't imagine not having turkey to munch on (dipped in mayo).

Shirley, what a wonderful day for you and your sister. Wow, you really got a tummy full with two meals and so sweet of your son to bring you some for later at home. Especially the oyster dressing that you love. I used to make it for my SS before he died. He loved it, too.

Patti, just to let you know my little ones are not little. My granddaughter is 23, grandson who is 20 & into weight lifting he is 6'6", grandson 14 was not able to talk to him-that is a long story & granddaughter is 13, then the great grand son. The grandkids are not little anymore.

No idea...I have an eye poking..neck stiff headache all day...I've managed to putz around bit..but cooking is not on tap...I might be able to manage some soup though..for me and the boys to eat on.

But if that doesn't happen no worries...it'll be there tomorrow to make..

Patti..I am so happy to hear you ate some things and they tasted good!

I am glad you had a nice Thanksgiving but so sorry to hear you are sick. I had leftovers at noon at Amber's but this evening I just broiled a couple of hot dogs for me. Get to feeling better.

Just eating a modified panini roast beef and swiss cheese on wheat mini pita!

I'm so glad you were able to eat a bit of food Patti! That's a great sight to see.

We ate really late. I decided I wanted to have a pork picnic shoulder that was on sale for dinner. Boiled with potatoes. So we went to the store to get it and I boiled it for about 3 hours. Some potatoes went in the pot and some carrots later on.

We just love ham that way. This is the second time I've done it, the first was with green beans. Hubby and I couldn't get enough tonite! :)

I've got all this wonderful ham stock and we don't like a ham and pea type soup. But I'm planning to make cabbage soup tomorrow and I'm definitely going to be using some of the stock in that. I think it will taste great. Also I can see it as a base for potato soup for some yummy flavour. So I'd better be freezing the stock.

I made a big pot of jambalaya for the family. It was so good they ate it all.

Patti, I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving and were able to eat some different things. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Last night we went to the home of some friends for an oyster roast and Lowcountry shrimp boil.
