Could it be a problem with your card?

The authorties have been trying for years to shut this company down. . For awhile I was getting a call everyday and tried to talk to them, but they either get nasty and hang up or just hang up. If you research it out, there is the name of the person/persons who own this company in FL and also has property overseas.

They are calling me as well, the lead in says that they have a question about the use of a credit card. I don't use credit cards.

Those calls are so annoying!

We get these calls all the time and it's always Rachel from card member services and the phone numbers are from all over the country. My husband and I joke "boy that Rachel sure gets around!" HAHA! This has been going on for YEARS. I even get them on the cell phone. This is not related to any legitimate credit card, it's a scam of some sort.

Sooo annoying! Who knows how to get this to STOP?

Once we had a call-jamming program on our phone service, but it ended up jamming some calls from people we WANTED to hear from, so we cancelled it. (Dentist's office couldn't get through. Library couldn't get through.)

I only get these pseudo-CC calls on our land line. Another reason to cancel that service?

I got a call the other day from 'my card co.' - asking for someone I have never heard of. When I said that person didn't live at this number, she asked if I would tell her the number she dialed. LOL Ya, right, lady. I told her she called me, so she should have the number!

They are driving me crazy also. Most of the time, I just hang up when "Rachel" identifies herself. A couple of times, I have pressed "1" to talk to a person. When I tell them I want my name/number removed from the list, they hang up on me. There should be a law against such harrassment.

We get them, too, on land-line and cell. The number is long and garbled, always different from one time to the next. We wouldn't even answer them, but our daughter lives in Australia so we answer all calls with goofy numbers!

We've both tried pressing various numbers, even talked to a "live" person once to get them to quit, but nothing seems to help. Maddening! And all our phone numbers are on the no-call lists, too.

Rachel? So that is who I have been hanging up on? I haven't listened long enough to catch the name.

Do you think it would help to complain to AT&T (our land line service)? Maybe if enough people said they were going to drop the land line because of these unlawful calls, the phone companies would find a way to halt this abuse.

I don't think AT& T will/can do anything. About the only thing that does work for awhile, is put in a complaint with your state attorney general. Or find out where the owner lives and call him at 4am everyday.

Just say "Sure" and put the receiver down on the counter. Leave it there until they hang up. It's their dime!

I just hang up when it's someone I don't recognize. My DH treats calls like this in a different way. He asks "I can't talk now. Can you give me your home phone number and I'll call you back later?"

Block the calls. Most phone services have this option included or you can included for a small fee, well worth it. I haven't received a call from Rachel, Maria, William, Michael or Kelly in months!

Rachel calls us at least once or twice a week saying there is no problem with our credit card but they want to lower our rates. You would think she would get the message since we hang up on her before she has completed the first sentence.

Is that the infamous 347-260-1495 number? Nobody has been able to stop them....yet! They get me by cell phone every once in a while. They're calling the wrong folks here! We have a couple of credit cards but both have zero balances.

I decide which game to play with them-
-blow the loud whistle
-ring the doorbell and ask them to hold on and never come back
-same for 'checking on something in the oven'
-pretend there is a bad connection and can't hear them (while playing on the computer just occasionally say 'can you repeat that')
-use foul language (I heard you get taken off the list because of verbal abuse)

We don't get many calls now after using these tactics LOL

I feel your pain about telemarketing calls ~ They're so annoying.
This was posted just this morning on another site that I visit and man is this lady mad and a bit batty too. It's a bit long but you can get the idea after a short time. :-) Oh, and she cusses I think so be forwarded. It's a bit hard to catch her words sometimes.

There are so many scams out there these days. Be smart and safe folks~

I get them on my cell phone too..... Rachel that is! I always hang up on her but sure do get tired of wasting my time picking up the phone to begin with.

Sadly, the person calling gets paid by the hour as a 'cold-call' solicitor, so she doesn't care what you do - she gets paid the same.

There is a consumer class action lawsuit going on against this company and you can call 917-398-5568 for more information. I got this information from another forum on another site.

Oh Rachel, my friend. She calls at least twice a week. You'd think she'd learn when I hang up on her every time. Thank goodness for caller ID--any call from an 800 service or from AICR or from the American Inst. doesn't get answered. Actually I don't answer calls from my alma mater any more either. I donated for 30 years. It's some else's turn now.

Just as a word of caution.....my call was not from Rachael but I thought it odd, especially since hubby and I have no active credit cards. So when they called me on the house line at 730 in the morning I was very suspicious. They also called my office line at 9am.

I mulled it over all day, the 800# was the same both times, 800-327-8266....and called my bank. Low and behold, it was indeed the fraud department from Star, for my debit account, they were following up a suspicious charge. The call was suspicious because the caller was obviously outsourced, they had strong far eastern accents. I shared that info with my bank officer and told her that I was very guarded with this information. Luckily I called back, or they would have frozen that account.

You cannot block the call because each and every time it's some totally different phone number with a whole new area code.

USE CAUTION and do not press a number when it says to on any telemarketing type call because you can be allowing someone to use your phone number to make long distance calls by pressing the number they tell you too! That's another trick they use.

Ther's one more side to this story. My cousin Dianne lost her job at a bank. She was unemployed a long time, finally landed a job as this kind of tele-marketer. She worked for Sears, calling people who owed money on Sears credit cards. She said it was a miserable job, getting mostly hung up on, or having to hear sob stories. "I paid my mortgage, but I can't pay sears." She finally quit, she's still out of work. The person on the other end of that call is still a human being.

Well, those calls that I get mostly do NOT have a person on the other end, they are robo-calls and a recording. not much you can do to annoy that. I usually hang up in the first few seconds.

No the Rachel calls are not human, they are a recording. It would be different if the calls were about a delinquent credit card bill that I did not pay.

Right... the calls I receive are a recorded message. They want you to press a number to get to a real person (or whatever happens when you press the number). I never just hang up on a real person without saying a word. I tell them I am not interested. If they push and will not give up, then I say I'm not interested again and hang up immediately.

I've gotten multiple calls from this so called 'company'. A few times I stayed on the line hoping to ask them to take me off their list as I don't have any credit card. When I tried to tell to the customer service rep that, I was told to Shut Up...I don't have to listen you! Every time I tried to say anything , I was told the same thing. When I said I was reporting them, I was sworn at!

I looked their one of the numbers (they have many) & I see the company is know for that type of behavior. They apparently say can lower your cc interest rates & then charge you $100 for saying they can (which they can't)

We don't have caller-ID. I don't see how having it would help with this problem -- you still have to stop whatever you're doing and go to the phone. We all know to hang up. The problem is getting the calls STOPPED!

Michelle -- We had call-blocker. The downside was it blocked calls from from *anyone* phoning from outside our area code. We didn't get robo-calls. We also didn't get calls we needed to receive!

It's amazing to me that a company can make money from calls like these. But then, I am amazed that *living on credit* has become the American way of life. I see ads asking, "Do you know your credit score?" I don't know, and I don't care. We froze our credit reports ten years ago as a precaution against identity theft and have needed to temporarily un-freeze them only twice. I don't care what the finance charges are on my CC. It's paid in full every month.

I only get that one a few times a year.

When I pressed the "1", I asked the guy, "What interest rate? I don't pay any interest - I pay the account in full each billing period".

Furthermore, were I to agree to your offer, sooner or later you're going to want my credit card number, which I never give over the phone, especially to strangers.

It'd be difficult to force you to not call again, but I'm the only one at this number and I can assure you that you'll not get any business here ... ever. I didn't add, " ... until I'm dead and the number re-assigned" ... but wouldn't add, " ... or moved elsewhere ...", as that wouldn't strengthen my argument.

I tell them to hang on for a minute then I put the phone down and walk away!!
They get the message and usually hang up, but some have waited!

Has anyone gotten a phone call that says "phone scam" on the caller id? That makes me really want to answer the phone! Not!!!!

Well yippee! My call from Rachel came last night! It was a recording and she called at fifteen after ten! I promptly hung up! It was actually Rachel or so the recording said. I can't believe they would call that late at night. Of course I had been asleep.
