I am Married!!

Hi everyone I know its been a long time since I have been here just been really busy with school, buying a house and planning our wedding.We got married Sat 4th. It was beautiful and perfect. We had a really rough week because we had a sudden death in the family on Monday. My husbands aunt whom we are very close to had a brain anuerysm that burst,. So it was a rough week. All around us during our vows where yellow butterflies and dragonflys, so we know Aunt Rosemary was there with us.. I am going to post a link to my many wedding pics if you would like to see them.

Congratulations......you were a beautiful bride. I can only see one picture. Maybe that's because I don't have a facebook acct.

I'm sorry to hear of your husband's aunt. I like the story of the butterflies.

I am going to assume that the 18 year old is your brother? And in doing so GIRL he is 18, tell him to get off his butt and get a job, save money and move out! Not having a male role model in his life in not an excuse for you to step in as the mother in his life! He is at the age that if he fully capable of at least sharing in the responsibility of an adult. If for some reason he can't move out just yet, fine help with bills, cleaning, and anything else he would have to do if he had his own home / apartment! BIL- I understand there was a huge tragedy in his / DH's life but what you and your DH are doing by babying his bad behavior is enabling it. It will get worse before it ever gets better. You and DH have now stepped in to raise him, you will have to take on a parental role (Note I did not say mother's role) that means, grounding, chore's as he to is of age to do his fair share. At 14 I am sure there is a yard to mow, garbage to take out twice a week, and more. You must establish rules and BOTH you and DH should follow. DH - I am a SAHM and go to school online as well, not to mention raise a 3 year old and am 7 months pregnant there is no reason why he can't get off his butt and do house work. If he doesn't want to work fine he is now a SAHD! There for he must pull his weight, and you are enabling him by doing it for him when you are home at night and on the weekends. Make it a point, "DH I love you but if you do not work you will NEED to do housework." Now I personally do not do ALL of the housework around the home, as to leave some for DH so he doesn't get lazy or think I am his mother and am hear only to pick up. But he has a hot meal when he gets home , clean kitchen and clothes. The first year of a person's marriage is supposed to be the "honeymoon" but in your case it has not been. I do not think you just give up and walk away, you should try to work through this. Things would not be so bad if you and DH started to make some ground rules. I am not trying to be mean hear but I honestly believe that at 23 both you and DH have taken on a huge responsibility that you may not be ready to handle. Maybe the idea of having BIL stay with an older relative might be something to look at. Has the court in your area stepped in to assign guardianship to someone? You just can't have him running around from one home to another or Children and Families might step in and place him with a relative that might not make anyone happy.

Wow. Seven adults all in one home , a BM butting in and now a baby on the way. Not sure just what you expect to hear here as to "where do I go from here". You're in your own home currently with your kids. He's in his own home currently with his two kids, a GF and a grandbaby. I say stay put where you are. Nothing is changed from eight months ago when you moved out. Why go back now? Do you really want your soon to be baby to be living in that crazy household? I don't see this as a 'wait until the kids move out'. Are any of these kids ever going to move along? Are they going to mate and move in even more people? If they were to move out are they still going to run 'your' household and pull Daddy's strings? This man is now in your life, divorce or not, for at least the next 18 years. His chldren and their growing crew are also going to be around somewhere. They dislike you, they likely will not take kindly to a your baby and may just blame the baby for 'making Dad stay with that woman'. What about counseling for yourself? Maybe a good look inside yourself to find why and what it is that your next step needs to be...for your own good and the sake of the baby. Just because baby is due soon does not mean you have to make big decisions immediately. Take some time to sort out your own self, what it is you want and need, what's best for your current underage kids. You may also need to consult your lawyer about legal advice on things like child support, visitations, healthcare for the baby ect.

THe issue here is the father not disciplining his kids. The discipline here is the issue. Newstepmom, if your husband is not willing ot discipline his kids when they come over , and after reading what you wrote inyour original post, i would suggest you tell him to leave with his kids. You married him, you must have seen some signs before ???? I'm just wondering. Did they respect you before the marriage? Did they change? or was it the same...because if these kids acting like this before you married him , then it was a mistake to marry him. Cause you invited them in..all of them! And if they didn't respect you before and he didnt' do naything...what would make you think he would do something after u married him? Tell him to discipline his kids when they come over...REspect is respect. Or they all leave. Period. Your expectations to be treated as a human with respect are not unreasonable. BUt since the stepkids are rude and do not respect you then they ar enot welcome in the house. Period! They have the right to see their father. They can see their father out of the house. Period. On your relationship with him.Do you have respect and love for aperson that wont defend you?

CONGRATULATIONS! My parents were married 62 years before my mother passed away. I remember when she said the years went by so fast. Now my husband and I will be married 36 years next month and it sure doesnt seem like it either. I remeber when my dads sister said how many times are they going to celebrate their anniversary. We celebrated there 25,40,50,55 and 60 and we thought what was it any of her business how many we celebrated. We thought it was worth it and as long as they were in good enough health to do it why not do it.

Congratulations! Your dress is really beautiful. It's unusual to see that touch of color, but I love it and your flowers as well. Glad to hear all went well the wedding day, creating lots of good memories. So sorry Auntie didn't make it in person, but no doubt she was there.
