Sister Wives?

Anyone catch the season opener this week?

I've been semi-supportive of the family all along. It's not my choice of how to live my life, but they were all adults when they made their choices and no one seemed forced into anything. Also, they seemed to be doing a decent job of caring for their children.

But this particular episode really bothered me. They always seem to be partying--but they have no jobs at the moment. They wanted a social outlet for their children, so rather than heading to the local LDS church (I presume there are some in Vegas, the town was BUILT by Mormons), they descended upon a Presbyterian church asking if they could send their teens to their youth group. The minister was SO uncomfortable--you could just see it in his face--but he rose above that to offer a welcome to the children should they decide to come. The family ended up deciding not to, though. But I thought it was amazingly pushy to ask a church to provide ONLY a social outlet for their children (they didn't want any religion mixed in, just a place for their kids to go for fun).

The big thing that's starting to really concern me, though is the fact that Meri's goal is to get a job working with troubled kids. Well, her daughter has some major issues, has all along. One of the boys is in serious depression. A couple of the other kids seemed to be having some real problems at the moment. Obviously we don't see everything in the hour we're invited to visit with them, BUT what's being done for these kids? Why are they continuing to parade them on TV when some have problems with it? (well, of course, we know why, but still, my family's health would come first to me, no matter what).

Just wondered how the rest of you felt about the new season if you caught it?
