I've been a lurker for years, popping in when I need help or to lend a hand. Well, I'm on the needing help side tonight. My only child is getting married in a few weeks and I am looking for a poem. I have to admit I don't have time to look for one online, so I thought I'd ask the biggest group of people I know.

My son lost 2 of his grandparents before he was 5, and another at 18. He is planning on setting their pictures on the front pews of the church with a rose. What I am looking for is a poem about them being there in spirit or memory to share his day with him.

He is very sentimental and misses them dearly, so sappy is okay. I have 3 weeks to find a few to let him choose from. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Our granddaughter was married last weekend and she lost her mother November of last year. This is the poem they put in their wedding program.

I for one vote for "We Thought of You Today". Brought tears and was so warm and loving.

I live in northern Massachusetts and am sorry to say that mid-October is not really a floral season here if you're planning a wedding. My best advice is to hit every Home Depot and other big box stores to buy mums and whatever else might be available IN BUD, not flowers, in September. It will be very hard to find mums etc anywhere that late--I have tried. But the good news is that all the world travels to New England for our beautiful fall foliage in October. It's peak season here. Think leaves and berried branches and pumpkins and gourds and shocks of corn and a harvest theme. Farm stands are the place to go that time of year. The home magazines, like Country Life, have lots of ideas. Maybe you could go to the library and get some past issues for ideas. Try to find an experienced local gardener to help you with suggestions. The wedding will be beautiful.

Thanks for the suggestions folks :) I do plan on printing up a basic set of instructions. And the envelope thing isn't too rough, I can make up around 50 of them in an hour. And since we are hopefully going to keep the guest list to around 25 or so, that isn't too many jars to pack up with seeds. I want to do garden in a jar because I'm asked fairly often what I'm putting in my garden and where do I get my seed from? Thought it would be a nice way to share that with my friends. These seeds aren't going to be thrown around I hope- I hope they take them home and plant them. Most of them either already garden or are looking to get more into gardening, so I thought this would work :) Seed bombs- yep, those are playing into the wedding too. I'm making wildflower seed loaded paper bits for people to throw in the wildflower field where we are planting a tree for the unification part of the ceremony.

Have you contacted a wedding coordinator? You will find that they may not cost as much as you expect and they will have information on the better vendors. Some offer a free initial consultation. If you don't want to talk with a coordinator, then ask at your venue, your DJ, and even your caterer for recommendations, bearing in mind that they may know the person but haven't seen their finished work. If there are wedding shows in your area, you might want to attend one. That way, you can actually visit with vendors in person as well as seeing their photos.

Calla Lilies don't and won't bloom for labor day weekend.... it is also very unrealistic to have any kind of sunflower blooming in November in Ohio even with cover. I have grown plants and flowers as a professional to sell my entire life and when anyone requests specific flowers for a specific date my answer is always always always NO. If you think you can defy the laws of nature, give it a try but unless you are a trained grower and have done this sort of thing on a regular basis I wouldn't recommend 'trying it' - you won't be happy with the results. I honestly wish I had more positive information for you - to be certain of the flowers you want for your dates you will most likely have to purchase the finished plant material. It will save you a lot of grief.

I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions but I think that is such a lovely idea.

My DD lost her father when she was 16 months and really doesn't remember him. When she got married she put a little dedication to him in the wedding program. I didn't know she was doing it until the day of the wedding. It was very touching.

Those we love remain with us,

Or I found this, you could change the word to grandma and grandpa??

You might have to change "she" to "them" for this one??

Thank you soooooo much for all your help, and votes. I will print all of these out and let my son choose. If he cries as much as I did, he will have a hard decision.
