Thanks all for the comments so far. Let me see if I can respond: teacats - the chairs I bought first because I liked them and they were on sale! This was before we had even started looking at pianos (I originally thought we were just going to have an upright). I can't really return them so I think I have to work with them for now or maybe move them to another room in the future, if possible. I was disappointed in the rug color - it was a lot darker than the picture online. I still might be able to return it but I'm contemplating that one. It's a nice rug. I may be able to use it in the dining room instead. I was unsure on having the backs of the chairs to the door - you think that would work? The room is about 18' long x 13' wide. Your suggested artwork is very nice as well. I'll keep it in mind! pipdog - I thought about the corner by the window as well but that means the lid opens to the wall and its in the light and by the furnace register. The lamps aren't staying - they are just temporary for now! aktillery - thank you for that post. There are some other options to consider there. I need to figure out how to make a floor plan to scale so I can see if the room is big enough to have the piano more toward the center. I'm afraid for the piano by the window. My parents' black piano faded over time because it was right by a huge picture window (and still is) cyn427 - I'm having a hard time visualizing what you mean. The corner to the left as you walk in? Seems like the piano would stick out in front of the door but maybe I'll have to try it. It's only 5' long (it's a baby baby!)

The first KTer I met was Martha from Tyler (who now posts at the Coffee Shop & lives in Whitehouse.) Then I went to Waco to Jaybird's & met Nita, Jerri & Gabby. Jaybird took us to a restaurant in Crawford where we took our pictures with "President Bush." Annie and John Pence from Lake Fork picked me up and we went together to Fredericksburg to Buzzard's get-together. Nita, MaryAnn and I stayed in a motel room together. It was a great weekend. On the way home, Annie & John stopped at a German restaurant near Austin where I met some of their kids. What a great family; John passed away a year ago. Then 2 years ago I met a lady from Temple on a cruise ship, but don't know her name! Now I'm friends with the amazing Vannie. If I've left out anyone , just remember that I'm getting old! *L*

re: my previous post. Yeah, it's bittersweet. We took a major financial hit almost 5 yrs. ago to relocate 900 miles to be near the 4 GKs who are now moving 1000 miles away. And it was worth all the sacrifice. They are terrific, fun kids. So, our knee-jerk reaction, for those 80 minutes, to them moving was for us to move back "home" (don't like this city.) And then DD told us they were pregnant and we're staying put (an hr.+ away.) I bought the future GK a present today!

What a great experience that must have been for you ladies. I go on the Quilt Forum every day and a group of us have started holding a quilt retreat every year in the mountains of North Carolina. This was our fifth year and we had 14 people in attendance from the quilt forum. It was great...like a big old family reunion for some of us who have been every year.
